Very good, but more usefully for people already knowledgeable in coding

Pros

I love the app, very versatile product for creative people and to manage ideas

Cons

It was pretty hard to get accustomed to the amount of coding required to make the most of it

Great initial impression however quickly bored by Obsidian.

Pros

Attractively simple. Doesn’t require much effort nor attention to get to work with.

Cons

Far too simple with few UI customisations that seem common elsewhere where even more features are available.

I loved being able to customize Obsidian and make it my own. The amazingly generous community always has your back and is creating new plug-ins all the time to take the app to the next level. For me, the openness, free-flowing organic nature just worked with my creative brain. It just feels good now to open the Obsidian App and get the ideas flowing.

Pros

I have tried multiple notetaking apps, like Evernote, Notion, OneNote, and Apple Notes, but none of them have ever proved as useful as Obsidian. Basically, I would write it and forget it. That all changed went I was introduced and started using Obsidian. It was love at first sight. I love how open and free-flowing Obsidian is. I can design it the way I want using Obsidian's Community Plug-ins, and completely personalize my notetaking experience. Obsidian also has a great community to answer any questions you may have about setting it up.Obsidian introduced me to linking my notes. Now I have a network of ideas that I can keep coming back to. The graph view gives me a visual of how all my notes are linked together—such a creative feature—it stimulates idea generation and creativity.Another plus, which was a big selling point for me, all my notes are saved in a Vault (folder) directly on my computer as .md (Markdown Documentation) language files. I have complete control of all of my notes and can easily back them up and open them as text files if I choose. The mobile app setup was easy I personally use Syncthing (on my PC) and Mobius Sync App (on iPhone), so securely and very quickly sync the Obsidian Desktop App with the Obsidian Mobil App.Obsidian has been the only notetaking app that I have used consistently. I have it open on my computer, use the browser extension, journal, and reflect with my Daily Note. I'm a total fan!

Cons

There is a learning curve when using Obsidian. It can feel intimidating when you first open the App and see how simple and stripped down it is. It really is a "blank canvas", so it may not be for everyone. Personally, I was so fascinated with it that I thoroughly enjoyed spending time on the Community Forum and watching YouTube Tutorials.

I found Obsidian so much more free-flowing and organic. I could make it my own, whereas Notion and Microsoft OneNote felt rigid and overly structured.

Pros

Obsidian has a really robust note-taking. Is markdown supportive which I love. And we have knowledge graph which I think it's an awesome feature for people that use Obsidian.

Cons

I think the only part I can point that are the cons about Obsidian is the learning curve and limited mobile app features.

I think it's really a powerful tool. If you spend time designing a system that works for you and stick to it, it can be a huge time saver.

Pros

The best thing about Obsidian for me is how it's possible to customize and add basically any feature or behaviour you might need. The huge plugin library is really great and there seems to be a solution for every situation. Another great thing is being possible to manage syncing with your peferred service.

Cons

The thing that kept me for using it after a year is that I found too exhausting to have to configure (and remember the custom behaviours) of all the plugins that I've added. I think overtime is easy to get into a situation where there's a lot manage.

I'm using obsidian to manage my digital garden and organize my knowledge

Pros

You own your files, everything is markdown. The UX is smooth and there is an amazing plugin community that caters to every extra feature you will need.

Cons

Sincerely, this software is so customizable and good out of the box that I haven't found a reason not to like any feature.

I use it in my academic research but also in hobbies like Bonsai where there is a lot of information to be digested. The overall experience is to be able to relax about having to remember the small things, because Obsidian keeps it save and organized.

Pros

I love the classification and the storage of personal knowledge. Its a cliché: But just as a second brain ...The fact that its on my iPhone and PC. Anywhere where I have an idea or where knowledge is shared I can make notes.

Cons

Mark down language is still a language to be learned. Especially if you use it for the first time. I'm not a coder so "md" doesn't come naturally. But the benefits of it being "future proof" are profound. Please use as much icons and graphics as possible to make the md print files as trendy/easy to use. I.e. for the ones who don't speak md.

Obsidian is a powerful and customizable knowledge management tool that offers a lot of flexibility and potential for personal and professional use. However, it does have a steep learning curve and some limitations in terms of cloud sync and mobile access.

Pros

Obsidian is a knowledge management tool that has gained a lot of popularity recently among professionals and individuals looking for a way to organize their thoughts, ideas, and information in a more efficient way.Powerful note-taking features: Obsidian allows you to create and edit notes easily, with support for markdown formatting, tags, and links between notes. This makes it easy to organize and connect information in a way that works for you.Customizable interface: The interface of Obsidian is highly customizable, allowing you to personalize your experience and optimize your workflow. You can choose from a variety of themes, plugins, and settings to create the perfect setup for your needs.Cross-platform support: Obsidian works on Windows, Mac, and Linux, making it accessible to a wide range of users. Additionally, the notes are stored as plain text files, so you can access them from any device or app that supports text files.Active community and development: Obsidian has an active community of users and developers who are constantly creating new plugins, themes, and features to enhance the tool.

Cons

Steep learning curve: While Obsidian is a powerful tool, it can take some time to learn how to use it effectively. The customizable interface and advanced features may be overwhelming for some users.Lack of cloud sync: Although Obsidian allows you to access your notes from any device or app that supports text files, there is no built-in cloud sync feature. This means you will need to manually sync your notes between devices or use a third-party service to do so.No mobile app: As of now, Obsidian does not have a mobile app, which may be a dealbreaker for users who need to access their notes on-the-go.
