I call them the universal card processor for almost every sort of business Pros You might not hear a lot about them these days but actually they are the biggest network of merchant account provider processing card payments for almost every type of businesses since the beginning of e-commerce. They offer plan for high risk business sectors too and process cards in a lot of currencies. Plug-ins available for almost every platform out there and clear payments to bank daily. Cons I found there interface little tricky and needed expert’s help to integrate with my e-commerce site. I have not "upgraded" to the new user interface and don't plan to if I don't have to. Pros I use the services provided by authorize.net every single day. The service allows me to securely accept credit cards through my online store. I feel the security is top notch and the fees are very resonable and a good value for the money. Customer service is quick and knowledgeable. Cons Although I use authorize.net every day, I am not happy witht eh new user interface. It can cope with our day-to-day traffic without stuttering despite the arrangement having a retro feel to the early internet days compared to today’s contenders. Pros The fraud detecting package makes me feel comfortable when handling large credit card payments done by new shippers I have never done business with before. Cons The user interface is so outdated, and it is impossible to navigate through the backend settings with the required number of clicks. The transferring of money to clients and partners is highly reliable; it assists in avoiding fraud issues. Otherwise it seems a little outdated and complicated to set up and use beyond their automated features. Pros I do like that Authorize.net is pretty widespread in its use, and that I feel I can implement it in a variety of mediums including SuiteDash CRM and Payments, my website, etc. It is rather versatile in that sense and allows for customization or more simplicity if needed. Cons If you are doing anything beyond setting up Authorize.net with them directly and having them manage your processor, it is really difficult to figure out what to do and what you need. Customer service is great, but I prefer to just get things done on my own without multiple phone calls to set things up. Payments come slowly and it just overall feels really outdated for me. With the good rates, and integration by SkyVerge for WooCommerce I can definitely recommend authorize.net Pros API access is great and there are paid plugins that make integrating with WooCommerce very easy. The also have low fees Cons Their merchant UI is very outdated. It’s hard to find things and it’s small and hard to read sometimes. Looks like it was built in the 90s and never updated. It does seem to have security figured out which is a nice plus. Pros Authorize helps us securely capture payment from customers on our eCommerce customer facing site that is a partnership with our fulfillment business. It is easier to use than our home grown software for the end user for sure. Cons We need separate accounts for US and Canadian payments. When I first began using this product, I needed some customer support on an issue and they were so quick to respond and they let me know that they would be available 24/7 to help with any other questions that I may have. You can't beat customer service like that. Pros I like that I am not held to a contract if it didn't work as I expected. Luckily, it works just as I need it to but that was a big factor in using authorize.net. It was very easy for us to build the bridge between our main software and authorize.net to process all payments through them. The website requires no training and doesn't have a million options of choices to pick from like some do- everything is very self explanatory! Their customer service is great and gets back to you quickly. Cons I don't have many complaints about Authorize.net except the reports. They are very confusing and it is hard to know which report you are supposed to be using and when. They don't provide a great description of each report. Along with that, we've used the virtual terminal for manually keying phone / mail orders. It is easier to use than PayPal Manager. Pros Authorize.Net provides good, helpful API documentation. Its web-based virtual terminal is also easy to use. Cons I would give their support a grade of B. Fortunately, it is rarely needed. For a complex and established ecommerce website, Authorize.net will offer the features needed and provides a trusted payment solution. Processing fees will be lower than competition like Stripe which larger volume businesses will benefit from.
