April 8, 2026 5.0 Overall, my experience with Authorize.net has been very positive. Very rarely has there been an issue that was not resolved easily. Pros I really love that you can search for past transactions multiple ways. Being able to print out a report for a patient for the entire year for their HSA accounts Cons Because it is a separate program, it does not automatically add the patients information and does not automatically post to their account. But again when faced with hurdles and questions they were not very willing to help us work through those problems. we eventually left the platform and was left with our pre existing handling solutions that do cost more. Pros there were some real savings potential with what was offered. Our company had an opportunity to save $20,000 per year by making this change. Cons During the exploration phase of the project we found that making this change with our current job planning software that we would lose the ability to collect payment on quotes, just one of those things that they put in place to protect their investment. When i brought this hurdle to the authorize. net team they were fairly unwilling to assist us with finding alternative workflows to make it work. Pros We use the plugin on our website to accept payments, as they are the same company that also takes care of our in store credit card processing. Cons Understandably they require a password change frequently but it seems to take multiple tries and invariably comes at a time when I am in a rush. A suggestion would be to find a more streamlined way to update passwords. These are the most important factors for me and my practice. Pros it integrates with my EMR, Patients can pre pay when they make their appointment. There is a subscription/reoccuring model that can be used. Cons I feel the dashboard is pretty complicated. I struggle often to find certain transactions and data. If I need to issue a refund or if I want to see a report for the month I feel there are a lot of steps just to do this,. It offers what is needed to collect payments in the most widely used network of providers but it's pricier than most and not easy to navigate. Pros It is the most widely accepted payment processor by merchant service providers and billing systems Cons The user interface is convoluted and not very intuitive. I end up using the back-end software of my payment processor instead. Also, rates tend to be higher than other solutions I've used in the past. We had an account manager from authroize.net that was very personable and helpful. It integrated nicely with Frontline, but didn't have all the options that we needed. Pros We used Authorize.net because they have an integration with our tracking/invoicing software, Frontline. Cons It did not have at the time we switched away from it the ability to integrate a link for payment with the invoice in Frontline. It also took longer to receive our money from Authorize compared to our newer provider.
