Our company used Magaya for more than 10 years as part of our freight forwarding operations. While the platform may work for very small logistics companies, we experienced serious scalability, accounting integration, and operational reliability issues as the business grew. The most disappointing part was the difficulty involved in leaving the platform and accessing our own historical records and database. From a data governance and IT management perspective, this raised major concerns regarding long-term data ownership, portability, and vendor dependency. Companies evaluating Magaya should carefully consider not only daily operations, but also long-term scalability, accounting integration reliability, database accessibility, and exit strategy planning before committing to the platform.

Pros

In the early years, when our company was very small, the platform was relatively manageable and helped centralize freight forwarding operations into one system. The software has a broad feature set covering logistics workflows, shipment tracking, and warehouse activities. For smaller companies with minimal operational complexity, it may provide a starting point for organizing freight operations.

Cons

As our company scaled, we experienced increasing operational and technical issues. The biggest problem was the lack of a true built-in accounting system and the unreliable synchronization with QuickBooks. Over the years we encountered constant sync failures, missing transactions, duplicate records, accounting discrepancies, and repeated system glitches that created major operational problems and required extensive manual corrections. From an IT and systems management perspective, the offboarding process was extremely concerning. After deciding to leave the platform, gaining access to our own historical operational database and records became unnecessarily difficult and time-consuming. We were informed that continued paid licensing was required even for limited read-only access to archived data accumulated over more than 10 years of operations. Communication regarding database exports, archival access, and migration procedures was frustrating and unclear. The entire transition process felt unnecessarily restrictive for a long-term customer.
