I had a situation where it was literally life or death and received donations for redemption of a dog from the pound or they would euthanize him the following day. Well I swear Venmo restricted the account and they have a 3 day waiting period for them to look at the documents you uploaded and they cannot bypass that mark it urgent or speed it up no matter the situation Review Source CH Colleen H. Once I added my checking account, I proceeded in trying to send a payment and got an error message. I called the customer service number and was told that I could check back later that day. I asked pointed questions to try and understand why the payment wasn't processing, but they couldn't explain to me why it wasn't working or how long it could actually take. There was no attempt, to my knowledge to assist me further with the issue. Pros Setting up my business profile was simple enough, and I was hopeful about using this product for collecting payments for my small business. Cons The verification process was not easy and I had several issues with adding the business bank account for sending and receiving payments. When I reached out to customer service, I didn't have a pleasant experience. I was not given a timeframe for resolution or any possible solutions to the issue... I use it all the time for small transfers and its been really reliable for that. I even started using a business profile for some side gig work and it was pretty easy to set up although the fees are a little higher than I expected. Its basically replaced cash for me when it comes to paying back friends. As long as you remember to set your account to private it is a great app to have on your phone. Pros I love how almost everyone already has venmo so it makes splitting a dinner bill or paying for my share of the groceries super simple. The qr code feature is also really handy when you are meeting someone for the first time like at a flea market because you dont have to type in a long username and risk sending money to the wrong person. It just works fast and everyone knows how to use it. Cons The worst thing for me is the privacy settings being public by default which is kind of weird for a financial app. I dont really need all my friends seeing what I am buying or who I am paying. For example, if my coworkers and I go out to lunch we always have one person put it on their credit card while the rest then Venmo what they owe. Another example, we have one person do the buying of Christmas gifts for our Director and President’s in the office, then everyone else Venmo’s their contribution towards it. Pros Venmo is my go to platform when needing to transfer or receive money. I like how people are able to add pictures specifying it is them, the additional code option to type in the last 4 digits of their cell phone number before sending to also confirm, as well as seeing other people’s transactions. Having all my coworkers on the platform made it easier to find others and also remind me who I needed to send money to for whatever they may have bought or covered within our business office. Cons The thing I like least about Venmo is having to pay a fee right away to receive your money immediately, or having to wait the 1-3 business days for transfer. I also don’t like when the app circles due to service issues because sometimes I believe it did not go through or doesn’t load immediately, and almost end up sending the payments twice. I have people pay me via Venmo for my side-hustle and like that I can turn around an use those funds for other things without having to run it through my bank checking account. Pros I LOVE how easy it is to make payments to my friends sharing expenses. I also have the debit card and use it to access my "play" money. Makes it easy to keep my accounts separate. Cons I also was issued a Venmo credit card, however there's no tying it to the debit account which I think is a missing. I had an experience where I used my debit card and the tip at a restaurant made me go negative in my account. They shut down my card and even though it was link to my checking account it took over a week to straighten out. It would be nice to link the debit card to the credit card in this circumstance. Pros What I like about Venmo is that it is free to use and is getting more and more widely accepted as a form of payment in both private and public transactions. Cons I don't use the feature, but the instant transfer of funds to your linked account costs money. To me, the standard transfer is just fine and costs me nothing, so that is what I always use to transfer funds from my Venmo account back to my linked bank account. Never in my life would i recommend Venmo. Sorry guys professionalism is a must. Pros The app is incredibly easy to use. I had absolutely no problems with the user interface. What i had issues with is the customer support team. I couldn't believe how incredibly rude the customer service rep was. I got locked out of my account, due to losing my phone and logging in from a unknown browser, after 6 days of back and forth, I shut down my account and never looked back. I have a lot of friends who we send each other money. It is super quick, efficient, and easy to send to bank account. Pros It’s super easy to use and makes it super easy to send money to friends or have friends send to me. It’s super helpful! Cons That not everyone has it. Sometimes I ask to send to someone and they don’t have it. But really I don’t know of anything I don’t like other than that, which can’t control. Or can you? Lol I wish there was a way to let people use it if they don’t have it. Like my mom has to drive all the way into town to put money in my account or I have to go all the way to her house, but it would be so much easier to have her send digitally but she doesn’t want to deal with that. It would be nice if it could be easier, but the hardest part isn’t the app it’s my mom and her stubbornness.
