I use it with my parents since they send me money for college stuff and it is so easy to use. Pros I like the fact that Venmo makes sending and receiving money so simple! If you need to pay someone back, you can send money to your friends and it can connect directly to your bank where you can take funds out! Cons The only thing that I don't like is that you need to connect a card to your account. Besides that, I have no other complaints are downsides to Venmo! Review Source DG DENNIS G. It is based on a social media background (which is why it probably appeals to them), and not only can you see you or your friends' transactions to eachother, you can also see the general public and what they're doing as well. WHY this is something that people want or need to see is beyond me, but in this age of social media this product fits right in. When mentioning PayPal as another form of money transfer, most younger folks mention Venmo instead. When I also tell them that Venmo is owned by PayPal, their face usually contorts and confusion sets in. Bottom line, Venmo works and it's "fresh". If you want to transfer money to/from anyone in the younger generation, you may want to install this and learn how it works. Pros Once you configure everything correctly, it is easy to use. There is a web-based portal as well, but this is a product geared toward mobile usage so the phone app has more functionality than what you would be able to do online via web-access. Cons A bit cumbersome to set up initially, and the interface is clunky. It's not intuitive when sending or receiving funds, and you'll find yourself bouncing back and forth between menu options to figure out what you're trying to do. Once you've done it a few times, it's easier, but none-the-less it's still awkward. August 13, 2019 5.0 Pros The convenience, the fact you can send money to anyone, anywhere, anytime. Cons I don't like the 1% fee they charge if you have to deposit money instantaneously. It is user friendly and can easily be use as a primary method of paying just about anybody anywhere. It’s just a few clicks on my iPhone to pay anybody hustle free and it doesn’t cost me anything to use it. Cons I didn't find anything that was difficult with using Venmo. It has served my needs well and I would recommend it to anyone. When accidental payments have been sent, Venmo was quick to resolve the problem. Minimal interference was required and I had my money back within 24 hours. This app makes online payment easy in uncertain times. Cons Sometimes it will have you verify unrecognized payments with a phone number, occasionally it will not. Pros Ease of transferring money between 2 parties Cons Venmo denied fraudulent charge. There were 2 charges within a few seconds of each other. $5 and $84. Venmo reversed the $5 charge but not the $84 charge. They denied this fraudulent charge.I contacted them when the charges were still pending with Venmo. Instead of stopping the charges from going through Venmo debited my bank account to cover the charges. Venmo will not tell me why, nor will they answer my emails asking why the claim was denied. Venmo allows us to transfer money electronically instead of manually getting money out of the atm or writing a check. If you find something you like, 9/10 the person you are talking with or with will have Venmo and you can easily borrow money and pay them back no matter where they are instantly. It's actually pretty easy to set up with the exception of it taking a little longer than most people care to wait, for them to verify the bank details- if you choose to go that route. Cons Comparatively speaking; against their competetiors such as CashApp..When using the cash card at a store or anywhere and theres not enough funds on that card, instead of it allowing the merchant to take the entire amount off it just declines the purchase whereas cashapp does the opposite. Which just becomes flat out frustrating for everyone involved. Just a thought. This saves me from having to go hunt down cash and carry it around. It's also great that it's free. Cons I wish that Venmo had more security features. Since it is linked to your email there is a chance for hackers and fraudsters to cause damage. I also had an issue one time where I wanted to talk to customer service and wasn't able to reach them. I like that we can include a note with what the money is for that we’re requesting or sending. It’s a great alternative to keeping physical petty cash on hand. Pros Sending and receiving money is fast and easy. It saves a lot of time without having to switch between apps. There are options to private who you’re sending to so it’s not public. Cons I don’t see an option to remove transactions from the main page, that would be a nice feature to add. Like maybe it can be moved to a folder that is labeled with the months/years. Connect to your bank with zero hassle, and fees are incredibly low. Transactions are super simple, and i've never had fraudulent activity on my account. Cons There are literally zero that I can think of.
