Police Officer Government Administration Used the software for: 2+ years ### "Pay People on the Go (The Young Generation's Go To)" April 12, 2019 5.0 Overall, Venmo has been able to capture the cashless market among family and friends (instead of writing checks). I think they'll continue to own that market as long as they keep making payments easy and free (minus the cards of course). You can sync your bank account to add funds/make payments without fees, but I know some people don't trust it. Pros Venmo makes sending money to your friends, family or even strangers totally seamless. In fact, there are very few people I know that don't have Venmo. It allows you to request payment from someone (because someone always doesn't pay) and it allows you to make payment from your Venmo Balance, Bank Transfer (No Fee) or your Credit/Debit Card (fee). All essentially painless. While the feature is more for fun, I love that you can write whatever memo/emoji/etc you want in the notes section of the payment. When I see some payments hit my main feed (you can choose to keep your payments private), I love seeing the stuff people send eachother in the notes. Cons My biggest Gripe with Venmo is that they hit you with a fee for Credit/Debit Card payments. I get why it exists, because they have to pay the fee on their side, but it feels wrong when you need money. There is also NO seller/buyer protection in the system. They advise you to only send $$ to people you know or trust. I've heard of cases where people pay with Venmo for a product and then realize the product is broken. They have no recourse for the funds at that point, so keep that it mind. Also, the only way to fund without fees is by attaching your bank account. Something about leaving my account tied to the app worries me, but I know many of us do it anyway. Review Source KI Kenneth I. Great tracking of past payments Ease of funds transfer Best app for ‘on the go’ payments. Cons What I don’t like about Venmo: I don’t like the social sharing element. I keep all my transactions ‘private’. But to be honest, I don’t like seeing other people’s transactions in my feed. It’s irrelevant & invasive in my opinion. Pros I love how easy Venmo is to use and especially how quick it is. For someone who has to pay on the go a lot, using Venmo has been incredibly helpful. It’s exposure and marketing is done well enough that it’s a popular software which is great because everyone uses it. Cons What I don’t like is how you can lose money on Venmo if you send to the wrong person or get scammed. Venmo doesn’t really have the ability to help with that. The app always runs well, the payments are quick and hassle-free, and it's super easy to comment/otherwise acknowledge someone's payment. I have been able to receive and make payments in a flash using Venmo, and plan to keep using it! Pros Venmo's app design is not only sleek and modern, but it's also extremely simple to use. The layout of the app is easy to navigate making for a user-friendly experience. Cons I wish that the bank transfers for larger amounts of money were a little quicker, but I understand that there is a lot more that goes into a transfer to your bank when the amounts are higher. Not the biggest concern in the world, just me being slightly impatient. The simplicity of sending money for the payer has resulted in increased "spontaneous" donations that simply were not available to us when we used only the more traditional payment processing methods. Pros Our payment processing strategy has drastically changed over the past five years. Rather than focusing on taking payments in person, we do most of our business online and through mobile payments. In order to do this most effectively, we have to be able to offer payment options that a wide range of clients utilize. Venmo is easily one of the most common. By accepting payments with Venmo, we can complete a transaction in the course of a brief phone call, or solicit social media donations that come through without active participation on our part. Cons The fees are in line with many of our other payment options. Being able to automatically transfer funds at a certain time each day to our central bank account would be an added bonus. Pros I love that it’s quick and convenient. It’s fairly easy to use as well. You can not just get paid, you can also pay people through it as well. And you can also pay your bills through the app. Cons I don’t like how it’s not super easy to use. I also don’t like that they’ve made it feel more like a social media account rather than a bank or money management app. Reason for choosing Venmo I use Venmo with my other products. Self employed Retail Used the software for: 6-12 months ### "Connected to but can't connect to Paypal" October 7, 2022 4.0 I set up Venmo after being referred by a family member as another form of payment, while I was waiting on a new PayPal card to arrive. It was easy to set up and understand. However when I tried funding this new account from PayPal (my only other account) I discovered this was not an acceptable form, which is hard to understand being that the 2 companies are literally connected. Funds are basically going to the same place, so why can't they be shared between the accounts? I ended up opening another account with a different company just to be able to move money from PayPal. This creates an extra step that I felt was unnecessary and frustrating. However, when I had an issue with the card, I received a new card quickly and could use the digital card at most places that allow scanning qr codes. The app is helpful for this as well as to see transactions. The app was also the best way to reach customer service, which was very helpful when contacted. However when I tried to contact them via phone I never could reach a live person. The set up needs improvement but is a great start and a great option when another form of payment, especially digital, is needed. Pros I really enjoyed the ease of starting an account with Venmo and how quickly I received the physical card. I also like how easy it is to send money and receive money to and from others. Cons What I did not like and what makes little sense. To me, is the ability to connect to Paypal. Venmo is a subsidiary of PayPal yet funds cannot transfer from one to the other. This was very frustrating and created a lot more difficulties than I felt was necessary. Reason for choosing Venmo The new account and referral promotions are the best way to get me to go through the trouble of setting an account. If the promotions don't require a ridiculous amounts of money to be spent or a long time, but thenhi&her the payout and the easier it is to receive, the more likely I will sign up with that company first, as well as refer others to it. Cons I don't have anything that I do not particularly like about Venmo. Maybe that I don't really care for the feed. Transactions that my friends make with other people are of no use to me. Pros I like the simplicity. Venmo is really easy to use, I have walked many people through setting up an account and sending payments. I feel that the ease of use is highly important especially for people who are not proficient with technology. I think Venmo is a very secure and fast way to send money to someone when purchasing something, paying someone back, or donating to a charity. Cons I think my only complaint is that it sometimes takes several days to transfer money from the app to your bank account. Now that I am so familiar with this app I can have my customers pay me that way with no extra charges or hidden fees - which in return have boosted my sales in my business. I have also recently had to deal with customer service due to charges on my Venmo card that were not me, and customer service was so amazing to work with. They figured out the problem, and had my money back in just a few days. Loved dealing with such helpful people who truly cared about my problem. Pros I love Venmo for many reasons, but one of my favorites is that they offer a debit card to use for your Venmo account. It is so nice being able to use money I have in my Venmo out at a store, on top of shopping online. The reload feature makes it even easier to use my card out at stores even if I dont have enough in my actual Venmo account it will then take from my bank account, but the fact that I can turn relaods off at any time I want makes this app perfection for me! Cons I honestly dont have any complaints at all about this software at this time - BEFORE I got my Venmo debit card my only complaint was that some stores online dont offer paying with Venmo, but now that i have the card the stores that dont specifically list "Venmo" as a payment method I just put my card number in. I do e-commerce as a side hustle and prefer Venmo to other forms of payment because it's simple to use, it's been a trustworthy program, and I get instant notifications when I am paid. Pros I love having Venmo as an option as opposed to exchanging cash and checks. With Venmo, money is accepted and then with a few clicks, you can have it transferring to your bank account. The turnaround time for deposit is quick and you do have the option to expedite it. It saves me trips to the bank and saves me having to exchange money in hand. Cons I have heard that there are some individuals attempting to scam others on the platform which makes me a little less confident in its overall operation. Additionally, if you accidentally send to the wrong individual, there's no recourse that I'm aware of except their mercy in refunding your money. Owner Consumer Goods Used the software for: 6-12 months ### "Getting your money in cash form is time consuming" December 12, 2019 4.0 My overall experience was very difficult at first since I was unable to connect to my credit union accounts and since I didn't have a credit card to connect it to for a while I cannot move my money anywhere unless I wanted to transfer to another person but even then it wanted me to have a fallback account before it would let me do that. I had to call customer service and they tried to help me fix it and they couldn't do anything either and it was only when they sent me the card do the beta program that I was able to actually use my own money. Pros I like most about it is the ease of transferring money from person to person with just a quick click and I like that you can personalize a message with it to make your own memo for what it's for and be creative with it. Cons What I like least about this software is that once you have money in your account it is almost impossible to get it out in cash form unless you have a bank that is approved by them connected to your account or you've been accepted to the beta program where they send you a card to use which is what I had to do to get my own money every other way was like hitting a brick wall of no because none of my credit union accounts where are valid to them. Reason for choosing Venmo I chose venmo at first over alternate products because I thought it would be the easiest considering they are a part of PayPal but after jumping through all those Hoops I decided to also go with it one of the alternative products so that I have a backup way to get my money when I need to without having to worry about something not working or me losing by card.
