### "Venmo - payments of the future"

November 16, 2021

5.0

Venmo is the future of financial transactions. It is risky to carry cash anymore and giving correct change is a pain and there is room for human error. This software is basically free to use and both individuals and businesses can easily make transactions at any time.

Pros

I like that it is easy and basically free to use on the go. Individuals and businesses that I pay frequently can connect with me as "friends" so they are easy to find to pay or request money from in the future.

Cons

I love this software so it is hard to say anything negative about it.

### "Ideal Payment Processing Software for Small Businesses"

December 8, 2021

5.0

Perfect for small businesses and better than using a square device for accepting payments.

Pros

The app is just great. UI/UX, how they have defined different user personas and the ease of making a transaction is fantastic. Super quick and easy to transact with any third party, strong authentication mechanisms and auto-credit to the account on file. Making and receiving payments is the easiest I've seen, and much better than zelle, or Paypal. User support is fantastic and there have been instances where I was fully refunded back when goods/services were not delivered as agreed upon.

Cons

It would be good to look at the credit worthiness/score and how reliable they are for their services. Currently there's no way to know (other than star ratings and sparse reviews at times). Multi-lingual capabilities would be helpful too, especially when you are transacting with non-english speaking partners.

Painstaking process to transact on the app. User experience was sub-optimal. And services like Paypal charge a decent fee for every transaction.

### "The Expectation for Online Payment"

December 20, 2021

5.0

Absolutely recommend this service to anyone that requires it. I use it for daily services and to pay for items. I also use it as a source of secure payment for items that I am selling. Also incredibly easy to transfer to and from my bank.

Pros

I use venmo on a regular basis. Venmo has made transferring money from my account to another and vice versa very simple and secure. Venmo is the gold standard in transferring funds and has an easy to use platform. This platform sets the bar extremely high for other money transferring programs.

Cons

There is nothing that I like least about this software. It is incredibly easy to use and makes simple money transfers painless.

### "Must have app for transactions! "

October 29, 2021

5.0

Really enjoy using this app as it is universally used amongst everyone and makes it easy to pay someone back without having to handle cash. Definitely recommend it especially as it is very helpful among big group gatherings when there is a need to keep track of transactions and allows other people to pay you back very easily! Very user friendly and easy to use, highly recommend!

Pros

I enjoy this app because almost EVERYONE has one, and it makes it easy as often one person pays for the dinner amongst a large group and it makes it easy for others to pay you back without the need to have to go to the bank

Cons

when I initially used it, i found it a little hard to find in the settings where to obtain my QR code to show someone but now the app is improved and is shown at the bottom which makes it easy to navigate.

### "A refreshing change from PayPal, cash and checks "

October 4, 2022

5.0

I use Venmo to receive payments for my side hustle, which includes selling rehabbed furniture, doing odd jobs and taking on writing assignments.

Pros

Venmo is seamless and allows me to send and accept payments on the go. As a freelancer, it’s fantastic because I can get paid for my services right away and have the money be available for transfer to my bank account in seconds. I don’t have to deposit checks or cash anymore and Venmo makes it easy to invoice and keep track of payments.

Cons

There was a bit of a learning curve, especially on the mobile app and connecting my bank account to the app wasn’t as straightforward as I wanted it to be. Also, changes to the tax code will make money gotten through the app taxable, unlike when clients pay in cash.

A client said she was more comfortable paying via Venmo so I decided to give it a try. It quickly became my main platform for accepting payments.

### "Transaction service review"

November 23, 2021

5.0

I have had only extraordinary encounters with Venmo. The one time I had an issue, client assistance, through the visit, settled my concern in practically no time!

Pros

I like that it is so natural to utilize among companions as well as whatever other sellers have the product or application. I'm generally cheerful when a merchant utilizes Venmo in light of the fact that I realize it will be a simple exchange. I likewise like the vibe like it is an online media type application. You can see the exercises your companions are doing with it however you can make it private assuming that you don't need others to see your exercises.

Cons

I have not by and by had any issues with this product yet my companion's Venmo application was hacked into and depleted her record. In view of this, I started to get worried about the security. It has not prevented me from utilizing it however because of its comfort.

Our Overall experience with Venmo is good as it provides dispute & chargeback services too. Venmo is one of the best platforms for payment receiving & settlement.

Pros

We are using Venmo for receiving Payments from our overseas clients & invoicing. Venmo provides a faster method to receive payments & the settlement is done within minutes. Venmo provides a bunch of features such as to request payment, Two-Factor Authentication as well as easy invoicing.

Cons

As far as we are using Venmo the only issue we face sometimes is low currency conversion rate.

### "Venmo: the fast and safe way to pay and get paid"

September 10, 2021

I have great experience with Venmo. I can easily find, add, and pay my friends. Totally love it!

Pros

Venmo is designed for quick money transfers. It is easy for users to send money to each other via text or a smart phone with Venmo. You can also use Venmo at CVS, Forever 21, Foot Locker, Grubhub, Hollister, Hulu, Uber Eats, to name a few. Venmo is very secure. QR codes on Venmo make it easier to find, add, and pay friends.

Cons

Venmo payments can only be made through the Venmo app. There is no international transaction with Venmo.

### "Easy to use, but bad security policies"

July 16, 2019

5.0

Pros

This is an app that does something similar to Paypal. It allows you to send money in real-time. The transaction goes through pretty much instantly. You can send it to an account by using a phone number or email address. It also allows you to create a username for your account so that people can send money to you without you having to give up your private contact information. It is very useful to send and receive money, as society is now becoming more and more of a cashless society.

Cons

Please be aware, there are NO money-back guarantees like with Paypal. I got scammed once sending Venmo. I purchased some clothes from an Instagram designer, and he instructed me to Venmo him some money. We had one successful transaction in the past where I sent him money through Venmo and he mailed me clothes, so I thought he would send them again this time. Well, this time, he didn't send anything and started ghosting me. I contacted Venmo to try to get my money back. I was surprised when Venmo told me that once the receiver withdraws the money from their bank account, there is nothing they can do. This has put me off of using Venmo for transactions where I don't know the person. I will use Venmo now only between family and friends. Paypal has 100% guarantee with getting your money back in these situations. They will refund you if you get scammed. Venmo has no guarantees. Just be aware of this. I will ONLY use Paypal to make purchases now because of my experience.

### "The future of P2P payment processing."

August 17, 2022

5.0

Over the many years I've used Venmo, I've been able to safely and securely conduct hundreds of instant financial transactions with friends, family, and total strangers.

Pros

I like that I can send money to friends to split the cost of shared expenses. I can send money to friends and family for gifts. I can make and accept payments for private sales that I conduct.

Cons

The transaction amount limit, only limits the potential this app has. Also, all transactions should be instant and free.

I love it!

Pros

I like how accessible it is! it's free, very simple to use, and so convenient. As a college student, we often split bills with friends and acquaintances. I also use it for rent or even utilities split among roommates. I can link my bank account and rely on it.

Cons

I wish the bank transfer to get the money in my venmo balance was a bit quicker or with less fee.

### "Not the most 'professional' way to accept payments from clients, but so many clients are familiar"

December 13, 2021

4.0

For what it is... Venmo is fine for those clients that prefer to use it, or for those clients that will pay sooner than later, if I request their payment through Venmo.

Pros

Many of my clients are very familiar with this software platform. In my opinion it is no where near the most professional way for a law-firm to receive payment from a client(s), but sometimes clients ask me if I/my firm, accepts payment via Venmo. For those clients I just say yes, and accept their payment(s) via Venmo because they are already set-up on Venmo and their payment(s) will come earlier/quicker if they get to use a platform they're familiar with.

Cons

In my opinion, accepting payments for legal services is not very professional when done through Venmo. Even though with the current/younger generation, who is very familiar with, and use, Venmo all the time, I still think it is not the best way for clients to pay for their legal services. LawPay is an option and is professional looking to the payor/client, but LawPay does not allow for repeat-auto-invoicing. I found only one platform that allows to set-up automatic future automatic invoicing, and that's MyCase. This is important to me/my firm because many of my clients have to make payments on their Retainer amount and with MyCase, when I'm setting up the matter in the system, I can easily customize the invoice so it can be automatically be sent out to the client on/at future dates and request certain amounts of money/payments from the client. Venmo doesn't have this feature.

Reason for choosing Venmo

I didn't exactly 'choose' Venmo'. It's merely an alternative when/if that is the only/preferred way a client wants to pay.

### "Venmo makes sales & purchases super easy! "

June 7, 2021

5.0

I am happy using Venmo to facilitate personal and business payments. I use it at yard sales, storage auctions, I take payments for things I make & create as well.

Pros

I like the ability to pay for supplies using my Venmo card or purchase items from individuals by sending money directly to their Venmo profile. It is super easy to split a bill with friends or simply make easy transactions as if you were carrying cash.

Cons

There are not a lot of options for analytics regarding the way you use Venmo. You can see transactions but not organize them very well. I also don’t like the default visibility of payments being shared within your socially connected group.

Great product overall, easy to use!

Pros

The reasons why I love Venmo is its ease of use and reliability to run my business. With at home businesses nowadays, I need a good resource to fall back on.

Cons

One of the features I liked least for Venmo was the limited ways that it can present itself to my clients. Maybe multiple forums will help things to get smoother.

### "Highly convenient tool!"

December 10, 2021

5.0

Primarily it solves the "I forgot my wallet/check, cash, card and can't pay. " so in that way it keeps people accountable I think.

Pros

Once I got set up, which really isn't even that difficult when you consider other softwares, this has been one of the best tools I've implemented into my personal life and business. Whether I'm sending funds to a family member for a gift, paying a friend back for lunch, or providing a service... it's user friendly! It's easy, quick, and convenient... which is what everybody wants these days!

Cons

Wasn't my issue but I took note...a client had funds in their venmo account the wanted to pull from and use toward their purchase, but because it was over the amount they had available in the account, it didn't utilize it and therefore pulled to exact amount from their linked bank account? Not sure if that was an operator error on their part. Otherwise, so far...I have no complaints.

### "Middle of the Road"

August 6, 2019

3.0

Well, given whatI've written above not a good time at all.

Pros

The user base is pervasive. Too many customers had Venmo, and not PayPal (but not both like me). No problems with the interface.

Cons

Main problem being the company's communications regarding my dispute of a via Venmo purchase: >>Your account is on hold. There wasn't enough money in your bank account for some payments you made, so Venmo covered the amount for you. You won't be able to pay people or transfer money to your bank account until you pay Venmo back. Pay Venmo back Amount you still owe $35.00<<o recourse to dispute or contend the charge because Venmo handled the transaction but refused to it when the didn't go through and I canceled the payment.o one to speak to, no one to contact, robot menus that cover all options except the reason you're calling, call centers with employees with no powers to do anything about a problem without asking their supervisor. This usually involves another long wait on hold and transfer to someone who must be explained the issue all over again from scratch. I estimate that I have had to explain my sometimes simple issue over and over 4 times. Because no one can be bothered to brief the person you're transferring the call to! To me this reeks of bad management bad training and a faulty power sructure.

### "Convenient On the Go Payments"

October 11, 2021

5.0

On a personal level, this software is great! It makes payment between friends and family quick and easy. Businesses may need more features to track inventory and report sales but it is a great alternative option when your primary system may be down or unavailable.

Pros

Venmo is familiar to most users and people trust Venmo to make payments. Funds are available instantly for use from Venmo and can be made available in your bank account immediately for a small fee. It is free to use and convenient when other systems are not available.

Cons

This is not a software program I would recommend for your primary POS system. It is great for on-the-go payment processing but is limited in it's reporting functionality.

### "Venmo offers and quick and easy way to send and receive money, but has questionable privacy"

October 20, 2021

4.0

Beyond the privacy issues, Venmo is really easy to use and a fairly good experience. If it was not for the fact that transactions are made public by default, I would easily recommend Venmo to everyone.

Pros

Venmo makes it really easy to send and receive money to friends, family and businesses. The setup is relatively painless, especially if your bank supports "Plaid" verification (otherwise you will need to manually enter your bank account info and wait a day or two for verification). Venmo also support sending/receiving payment via credit cards or debit cards, but with a 3% processing fee. In addition, Venmo supports business profiles (as by default, theoretically, your profile is for personal use only).

Cons

The absolute biggest downside to Venmo is its questionable privacy policies and settings. By default, all of your transactions are made public, anyone who knows your username can see what transactions you have made (both sending and receiving). You can change these settings, but Venmo makes it unnecessarily difficult - first you need to change your privacy settings to "private," making all of your future transactions private; second you need to make all of your past payments private, as even by changing your settings to "private" this will only affect future transactions. Perhaps more troubling is that Venmo largely hides its privacy policies. Business profiles are nice, as to make it more "legitimate," but they do come at a cost of 1.9% + 10¢ per transaction. This is fairly typical, but it is always frustrating that the same service is free for personal use but not for business use.

### "Venmo, it's a great app!"

February 4, 2024

4.0

Overall, Venmo is a great app, especially for an app that is free. I have had little to no issues while using Venmo for the many years that I have and I only have great words to say about it!

Pros

I like that Venmo makes it super easy to collect payments from customers, and refund them at the same time. I've never used a platform that also makes it easier to track payments.

Cons

The user design is not super intuitive, which can cause issues at times, but otherwise I have had no issues!

### "Easy and Efficient"

October 8, 2021

5.0

Venmo is a great way to easily and digitally share money with those around you to repay them for something they bought, to donate to someone in need, etc. It's a super easy to use platform and is so simple, even older people can use it really easily.

Pros

It is so easy to send money to other people you're connected to, or even aren't connected to, and it's really easy to receive payment from other people too. I also really appreciate that I can transfer money into my checking account for free through Venmo. It's really neat that they've added Cryptocurrency on there too. It's also a cute social site where you mostly use images to explain what you're purchasing. It adds a little silly fun to it, which I think we need more of in this world!

Cons

I know there are going to be fees to use it now, which I'm SUPER bummed about. That was one of the main reasons I used it all the time, was because it was free. Otherwise, that's the only down side to it.

### "Did I say network effects? "

August 21, 2019

4.0

Overall... Venmo is acceptable for consumer, P2P use cases — but has ways to go in terms of merchant adoption and true B2C solutions especially compared with Asian digital payments services.

Pros

The main reason why I use Venmo is because everyone else I know uses it, at least in the US and for peer-to-peer transactions—i.e. network effects. I like how they've implemented the "scan code" feature to help solve for the pain point of scrambling to find which variant of someone's name is the person you're trying to pay in real life. The activity feed of friends' payments also ends up being a source of guilty entertainment, and likely was the main reason why Venmo was able to acquire users faster and supercharge network effects compared to other, frankly better-designed competitors.

Cons

Oof... well Venmo is far behind a lot of payment players in Asia. There's very limited merchant payment functionality/adoption, even though I know Venmo has been starting to make nascent moves in that direction. Lack of NFC or touch payment/transfer functionality is also something that other payment players have that Venmo doesn't. Furthermore, you can only remind people about unfulfilled payments once. I recognize that's probably to avoid annoyance, but implementing something like a time limit would be more effective.

Reason for choosing Venmo

Because other people were using Venmo and P2P payments requires the presence of peers.
