Then it gets a bit more complicated and headache-induced. I think because it's so popular and prevalent in social media and people, it will continue to stay- but I do think other platforms are better such as Zelle or Paypal, which have security measures built in such as opening up claims. Pros By now, I would say almost everyone has Venmo and still prefers to use it for mobile payments. It's easy to use, quick, and the fact that it's free for consumers is always appealing to attract a larger audience. Cons I think Venmo's strongest selling points - that it's easy to use and quick to process - also makes it a negative. There's been multiple times, in both professional and personal transactions, where someone (either myself or the other party) accidentally paid instead of requesting, or the payment went to the wrong person. Their support in terms of filing a dispute or claim is nonexistent, and that leaves the entire situation up to the parties involved. That doesn't feel very secure to me. The app is super easy to use and I love using the app for everyday money exchange. Venmo makes everyone's life a whole lot easier as it allows many people to be able to pay each other back super easily, as well as makes the bank transfers super easy and inexpensive. The app is going to be huge for years to come as more and more people use it. I have found that all different age groups all love Venmo, and I expect it to thrive over the next 5 years. Pros Venmo is my favorite app for exchanging money, and being able to pay or receive money from friends or co workers. I use Venmo all the time when picking up lunch with a friend or at work when picking up lunch or coffee for other coworkers. The ease of use for the app is amazing. The app is super easy to navigate and also is great for paying friends, because there is no fees like with paypal. The app is super inexpensive and an even be completely free if used a certain way. Venmo has become the center for the younger generation to pay each other with. Many people done even carry cash on them anymore with the assumption that everyone has Venmo. It has become even an expression when you want someone to pay you. All you need to say is Venmo me. The software is great and is the perfect app for ease of use for everyone. Cons There is not much to dislike about Venmo. The app is practically perfect, and the ease of use is impeccable. The few flaws I had noticed was that first you need to enter a reason for payment. Sometimes for a quick Venmo I prefer not to have to enter a caption for the transaction, however Venmo requires you to enter something so usually this results with me just putting an animation or picture emoji. Also, I love the ios version as you can integrate it with Siri and ask Siri to do transaction for you which is a great feature I think. I'm excited to use the feature of group transactions which they are going to launch soon I think. Pros Its effortless to do transactions on Venmo and it's the best option I can think of considering the fact there are so many alternatives. The free version almost offers most of the features you need for everyday transactions. It's well integrated with other apps like Splitwise which is a great feature as you can clear Splitwise balances using Venmo and I use that every day almost. Transactions using Venmo are really instant and safe. Cons I wish they had less fees if you do transactions using your Credit card. Also default settings shares your transactions public which I think default should be disabled. I'm looking forward to use globally like with any bank account and any mobile number not just US which I don't think is supported at the moment. I am thankful that this program enables this functionality at such a low cost, and I look forward to seeing how Venmo expands the products and adds additional features. Pros I have used Venmo for many years now and consider it my main program for sending payments. It is quick and convenient, and I find that it is the most commonly used and accepted payment program/app. I like how simple and ubiquitous this program is, and in the payment space that makes it the best choice. Cons I dislike that Venmo lacks additional features which many competing programs have as an alternative. Some other payment programs enable payment to email addresses or phone numbers, and Venmo lacks this as an option. Additionally, Venmo lacks a larger suite of financial products such as banking/savings as well as brokerage which other competing products offer. Venmo needs more features. Review Source Chak E. It's free/low-cost and easy to integrate with a wide variety of banks and cards. I have used it for business purchases, personal deposits, and seamless money transfers. Because it is through PayPal, it's fairly secure and I have never had any issues with data breaches or leaks in regards to my financials. The added security measures of knowing a persons phone number is also super helpful. Cons Overall there are only two things I dislike about Venmo: the fees associated with instant transfers, and how they have start adding fees to business owners who use Venmo. Often times the regular transfers is less than a day, but I don't think I should have to pay additional fees to get it the same day. Things happen, emergencies arise, and those couple dollars of fees add up over time. For the business fees, I just love to support smaller businesses who often use Venmo as they don't need such big or high infrastructure softwares. Bill splitting has never been this easy and I recommend using this over bank apps as this has an easier interface. Pros Venmo made it easy to send and receive money through their mobile app. From a consumer perspective, I often use Venmo to send and receive money from friends whenever we split a meal. Compared to banking apps such as Zelle, Venmo is faster and the interface is super easy to use. A great option they have is that you can transfer money to your bank without any fees which is super important to me. In addition, it's fun to see your friend's transactions and you can always privatize your transactions as well. Cons One con is that there is actually a limit of how much money you can receive and withdraw. Understandably, they have this measure in place because the basic version of Venmo is used for small transactions. Any huge amounts of transactions would qualify as business transactions and I believe that there is a fee and tax that is put in place for those types of consumers. If you are a business looking to use Venmo as your main transaction tool, make sure notate that. Pros I really like the software-custom emoticons that you can use with each transaction to make it lighthearted with dealing with money and how fast, simple, and easy it is to pay and receive payments. I love how we have a handle name and I can look them up quickly and friend them to save them in my friends list for future payments. It's quick, easy and so useful. I choose not to use it for my business for the reasons I listed in my cons. Pros This is probably the easiest and most user friendly money transferring app that I have used. Venmo charges the user a very small percentage to do an instant transfer and there are no fees to do a transfer that takes 1-3 business days. If you are out for drinks and decide to put the bill on one person's card, you can easily send them money to cover your portion and they'll have it before the check even comes. If you need your money transferred to your bank immediately, you can have it within less than 3 minutes. Another pro is that nearly everyone has it on their phones these days and that keeps things simple. Cons It does keep track of your payments, received and sent; however, I feel that the use of venmo in a business is highly unprofessional and it can be a negative to the recipient. If a business owner or worker receives money for goods or services, they are charged a fee. While this fee percentage is very small, if you charge more than $100.00 for whatever your business provides, you're charged a fee and that adds up. For example, I sent money for $1,400.00 and received a very nasty email from the recipient saying that they were charged $14.00 just to pull the money. This is only with instant transfer, as I said, but it is something to be remembered for business owners. Set up is painless with your payment processing instantly. I can set it up to request funds from a contact, and Venmo will remind them that a payment is due. Transferring money to my bank account has always been the quickest on Venmo. While applications like Cash App may take 1-3 business days, I have never waited longer than a single day to see the direct deposit. Even when I transfer funds in the middle of the night, I see that money in my bank account the very next day. There is also an option to transfer funds instantly for about 1% of the total transfer. The instant transfer is always optional, but it is beneficial when you don't want to wait a few hours to get access to cash. I highly recommend checking out Venmo, especially if you have used other similar money apps. Pros Venmo is a quick, efficient, and legitimate way for freelance and self-employed workers to conduct business transactions and receive compensation for their work. Once you get your account set up, you can easily send or request payments from your clients. Venmo is safe, secure, and has a substantial privacy system in place. Transferring money to and from your bank account is very convenient and more reliable than some of the other applications that offer similar services. You can even utilize your phone contacts to keep track of your clients. Cons Intitialy there were some issues with the layout of the app, however after several updates and redesigns most of these issues were removed and taken care of. Customer service has also improved as the app itself has had less issues. Pros The most recent design of the Venmo mobile app makes paying and requesting funds easier than ever. A "Pay/Request" button is the most prominent button on the home screen, and your most frequent or recent payees tend to successfully appear towards the top of suggested payees.If you're paying or requesting funds from someone you've never interacted with on Venmo before, the app gives you the option to search by username, email, or phone number in order to find them. I find the flexibility of these options incredibly helpful as it allows users to complete transactions in whatever way works best for them.I also appreciate the fee-less option to transfer funds from Venmo balance to your bank account. Cons The payments feed on the mobile app home screen is comprised of payments recently made or received by your contacts. I used Venmo everyday and rely on it to pay bills, move money around, and the majority of my finances. I’ve been using it for years and love it. I prefer Venmo over all the cash applications. Pros I love Venmo because so many people have it versus other money apps. It’s friendly and connects to Facebook easily so you have all your contacts together in the app. I like how it offers bonuses and rewards with their debit card as well. What I actually love is sometimes it messes up when transferring money around and deposits twice so I get extra money. Cons One time I had an atm eat my money so not sure if it was my card or the atm. Either way it took customer support almost a week to get it refunded. It was during a low point in my life and REALLY needed that money so waiting a week was not the best. Such a great app!" April 6, 2021 5.0 It's been fantastic. My tenant pays me rent through it, I can collect money for items I sell in garage sells and I can easily transfer money to friends when they pick up a tab at a restaurant or bar. Pros Extremely easy to use, fast payment transfers and secure! Venmo has been my go-to payment method for one off and in some cases monthly transfers. Easy to login, identify and transfer funds between parties. Since I never need the money right away, I never have to pay any processing fees and it's easy to keep tabs on your transfers through their platform. Cons I cannot think of anything I don't like about Venmo however if I were to change anything about it, I would want them to have a more user friendly way of confirming ownership of an account for somebody you do not have a connection with but need to send money. As an example, if you are sending money to somebody remotely and only have their username, maybe send them a 0.01 payment confirmation before accepting the full transfer. Finally, I wish they would increase the transfer limits within a weekly transfer timeline. This software completely eliminates the need for cash or checkbooks in making personal transactions with other people. The best part is that it works on your phone, meaning you have one less thing to carry around with you at all times. My pocket space is thankful for the invention of Venmo. Pros I love how easy this software is to use. I never worry about having to carry cash anymore because I can simply pay people electronically with Venmo. This software has become so widespread that most people have heard of it and have an account. This makes personal transactions of all types very smooth and simple. Even if making a transaction with a stranger, finding their profile is easy with the built-in personal QR code and scanner that the software includes. Cons Although I have used the software for a long time, I am still a little wary of it due to security issues I have heard about. One of my relatives had his account hacked and lost a decent amount of money, which he was not able to get back. While the software experience of the application is great, I would feel a lot more at ease if I knew the company had security that could eliminate the possibility of hacking. That or guaranteed insurance of funds would erase any hesitancy I have to recommend this software and company. Its simple to use, easy to sign up, and great for any types of transactions you need to make weather its business or personal. Pros Venmo is very easy to navigate! All it is is a simple download, input your cc info, then you're ready to send! Its very accessible and has a wide range of users. Its essential in business because usually the younger generation will already have Venmo as their preferred payment method. Cons Only thing I personally could go without would be the social feature. Luckily, before sending you can set your settings to private and no one would see it besides you and the receiver.
