### "The Best Way to Get Your Payback"

April 12, 2019

5.0

Venmo is easy to use for all ages. It's also the fastest way to transfer money between people. I recommend it to everyone, as it's the most accessible to all parties involved (versus the fees of banking apps, especially if you don't use that bank, etc.). It's been an amazing leader in digital disruption, indeed!

Pros

Venmo is a free, easy to use app for exchanging money quickly. Especially in a world ruled by credit cards, Venmo makes it easy for groups of people to even out whatever they owe for any kind of collective activity--a dinner, splitting the dry cleaning cost, a bachelorette/bachelor party, etc. Venmo also accommodates users by making the exchanges free and safe. Unlike bank apps of the same nature, money gets transferred almost instantly. You can also use money you haven't yet transferred to pay forward if you want.

Cons

I don't love the idea of seeing other people's payments to friends and vice versa. While it doesn't show the cost or anything, I don't really need to know that a friend from ten years ago paid someone else for a beer. There are ways to make your own exchanges private, which I use. I also imagine that the backend of what the data is used for could make my skin crawl, but that is true of nearly every application at this point in our lawless digital urbanization, corralled by capitalist cowboys.

### "Venmo: PayPals little brother does not disappoint."

October 20, 2022

5.0

I had an overall mixed experience favoring the app positive collectively. I enjoyed seeing the history of anybody I chose to do business with as this made the payment processing community less sketchy and more safe.

Pros

The open end accessibility and ease at which any imaginable person is connectable for financial transactions and with all of their previous payments visible you have a safe community where you business is not likely to be scammed.

Cons

With such blessing of open accessibility there's the small downside that literally anyone can request money from you if your not tech savvy enough to change your settings.

### "Go Wild review of Venmo. "

September 20, 2023

5.0

Numerous transactions and no negative issues so far.

Pros

I really like the ease of use, opportunity for free or immediate processing, saved contacts and/or easy search for people, and ability to use for purchases.

Cons

No issues to report. Maybe would be nice if Venmo offered a savings or money market holding account so I could/might leave a (higher) balance in my account.

### "Convenient and helpful "

February 10, 2021

4.0

Overall, Venmo is easy to use and has enough security features to make using the app feel safe. The software makes it easy to connect banking information and make transfers in a quick and seamless way. The only downside of Venmo are issues with the app freezing or crashing while using. The app is free and widely used though so I believe the convenience and ease of use outweighs any cons.

Pros

Venmo makes it incredibly easy to find the account you want to pay and securely send those payments. In addition to having a user name that you can have people search in order to pay you, Venmo also gives you a unique QR code that someone can simply scan and find your account to reduce any typing errors when trying to find you by your username. The app is secure and easy to use, it is simple to get an account set up and connect your banking information and it is very intuitive to use the app. Venmo also makes it easy to transfer any money to your accounts.

Cons

Although Venmo is easy to use, has great features and good security, the app frequently freezes or crashes. It is not uncommon to have to restart the app a few times to get it to load correctly and sometimes the app will crash while you are trying to make a payment. I imagine there will be some new updates soon that will try to combat these issues but as of now it is a common problem.

### "Venmo is easy, convenient and highly effective "

August 5, 2022

5.0

I’ve never had an issue with Venmo, and my friends/family and I use it all the time to pay each other for things.

Pros

Venmo is easily accessible anywhere on the go, and I’m able to use it to make quick online/mobile/electronic payments whenever I need to.

Cons

The only real downside is the instant transfer fee, but it’s understandable. Also, I wish Venmo was FDIC insured.

### "Easy & Efficient Way To Send & Receive Money"

August 31, 2021

My overall experience with Venmo has been wonderful. If you’re looking for an easy way to send and receive money for your business, I’d highly recommend this software. It has a sleek, modern, minimalist design, and it’s extremely simple to use. It’s really been efficient for my business. I highly recommend it!

Pros

I love that this software is so simple to use. The design is very appealing, modern, and minimalist. It makes it so easy to send and receive money and is extremely efficient from a business standpoint.

Cons

The only dislike I have is that the fees recently increased.

### "Making Cash Even More Obsolete"

July 31, 2019

4.0

Pros

Venmo is a cash transfer app owned by Paypal, another known cash transfer and management app. Venmo makes transferring funds even easier than its parent company and has revolutionized payments for merchants and social scenarios. Adding sources of funds and funds to the application is very easy. Adding credit and debit cards is as simple as punching them in. Adding banks is also easy, as Venmo easily interfaces and verifies a connection to a bank in minutes. This allows you to get around certain credit card fees and to transfer directly into and from your bank account. There is also added merchant support, where Venmo can be used to pay for payments on mobile stores, making it even easier to shop online. there are also Venmo Mastercards now, where you can get a physical card that draws from your Venmo account. This has been a popular item for when friends go out to eat as one person can collect funds from everyone else and then immediate use those funds to pay for a meal on one card.

Cons

The web application for Venmo is laid out simply, and is slowly being phased out. You can no longer handle charges or transfer money on the web app, only the mobile app. I'm also not a fan of some of the more social aspects of the platform. You must add a message to charge requests and payments. The app also encourages payments be shared, where they are collected on a timeline to be shown to friends.

Great experience and will continue using in the future.

Pros

I love how easy it is to use and how good the security aspect is.

Cons

The only thing I would slightly improve is the difficulty of adding a card, maybe add a photo option that scans your card. But this isn't a big issue really.

### "Venmo Pros and Cons"

It's a very good platform! A very convenient and secure way to make payments from pier to pier or in online purchases, fees are good for some features not too good for others. So just make sure you revise your fees before pressing the send button. A lot of people use it and in my opinion it's a must have

Pros

Venmo makes payments convenient and easy, low fees for credit/debit cards and it's free to send money from a bank account or debit card

Cons

Can't cancel payments, no International transactions, payments are public and scammers love to use Venmo.

### "Venmo for all my payments"

January 6, 2022

Overall, I have used Venmo for a lot of business transactions instead of writing checks or paying with cash. It is easy to use and a lot more convenient than having to worry about if I have to keep cash with me.

Pros

I like the ease of using Venmo to pay bills, friends, and family for goods and services. It is easy to use and I never have an issue with payments.

Cons

I have not come across anything that I have disliked about using Venmo.

### "Security is the only reason to use this service."

March 14, 2023

My company enjoys the mobility of the service and the security features, but would prefer to see a massive system improvement for the onboarding process.

Pros

The security features and the constant communication with the Venmo team alerting of new security updates and staying in compliance.

Cons

The steps that made us go through to set this up were invasive and seemed to have no real point. Not the security steps i understand that but i had to update our company information including the tax forms multiple times.

### "Love using Venmo!"

July 17, 2021

I love it for business or personal use. So grateful for this product. Although it’s owned by PayPal, it’s easier to use on the go and love that I can quickly see who was paid and when. It also has a private feature if you don’t want all your contacts to know about your transactions.

Pros

It’s portable: on my phone and easy to use. I can immediately see that payment was made . Easy to select the account which I want to pay with. Really the fastest and safest platform for money transfer!

Cons

The daily limit is a bit tricky, but it is also a security feature. So I can’t complain there. The fact that it is dependent on WiFi, so can get stuck if network is not available.

### "Easy to use, just beware of social feed feature"

April 28, 2020

4.0

Venmo is quick and easy, so it all depends on your preferences on cost, visibility and wide range of use.

Pros

I've only used personally and wouldn't necessarily recommend for professional use. It's designed as an easy, fast way to do user-to-user payments. But unlike Zelle, which is tied to your bank and automatically deposits the money into your account, using Venmo you need to manually transfer funds from the Venmo app to your personal bank accounts (or leave your balance in Venmo, for future payments to others).

Cons

I dislike that Venmo defaults to showing other people all of your transactions in Venmo's social network - while using socially it's a map to where you've been eating, and with whom. I always advise my friends, especially women, to be wary of posting live social media updates that give your exact location. For this reason, I recommend only conducting Venmo transactions once you've returned home from whatever activity needed payment transfer. I think Paypal is more widely recognized among Gen X and older users, while Millennials and Gan Z are more likely to prefer Venmo or Zelle. Trying to reimburse someone for your share of a friend's surprise birthday present? Remember to be vague, or you've just blown the surprise! Using professionally, it could be an unintentional look into your clients or business expenses. Venmo isn't free, either. You're charged 3% on any amount you send to someone else using your credit card.

### "A great way to divide costs, reimburse individuals and get paid! "

February 11, 2020

5.0

Venmo has allowed me to quickly and easily pay and receive funds. It's a useful tool to have among other payment options, and I find it useful to just let some money accrue in Venmo from payments so I can easily pay others, without having to transfer from my bank account. Venmo has saved me time, fees from transferring and complexity in issuing some payments.

Pros

It's an easy way to directly send money to someone. With a few clicks you can send money to a contact or likewise, easily receive money. You can indicate what the payment is for, and the money accumulates in your Venmo account. You can easily transfer it to your bank account, as well. It's a great way to pay on the go, in a simple way, without having to enter or know your payee's bank account information, address or anything else!

Cons

You can only pay someone who has a Venmo account, so this is a small restriction that might not make it the default option for everyone. It's also quite informal, so it might not be the best way to receive or send money to clients or professional contacts.

Reason for choosing Venmo

I have investigated CashApp as an alternative but I found that Venmo was more widely used and I felt more reputable due to its popularity. I had also heard that many people were very satisfied with Venmo and no major problems were reported, so that was a major selling point for me.

Switched from

[PayPal](https://www.capterra.com/p/207944/PayPal/)

I still use Paypal but prefer Venmo for some types of transactions that I feel it handles more efficiently and easily than Paypal. Venmo also doesn't have as many fees, so it truly is a direct user to user transfer that eliminates extra steps.

### "Convenient, entertaining, FREE, and fast"

June 13, 2018

5.0

Pros

Did you know the root of the word convenient actually stems from the Latin word “ven”? That’s exactly what Venmo is. And the inspiration behind the name Venmo actually came from the word vendo/vendere; the Latin word “to sell”. Venmo is one of my favorite apps, I use on a daily basis. It has served as a lifesaver to me on many occasions when I did not have my wallet or cash in hand. You can transfer money to someone else almost instantly and will receive a notification when they have accepted the transaction, so you don’t have to wonder. Transfers from your Venmo to your banking account will show up as quickly as the next business day (as long as it doesn’t fall on the weekend or a holiday). One of the best features of Venmo is that you are not charged a transaction fee when you transfer money between your banking account using a debit card. But, the best part is the free entertainment… If you ever want a little laugh, go and take a look at some of the reasons other people have used Venmo. It’s pretty funny (especially over the weekends). If you are looking for a free, entertaining alternative to PayPal, Venmo will definitely satisfy your needs.

Cons

If your Venmo account is connected to a credit card you will be charged a small fee when you make transfers between the two. I would not necessarily see this as a fault in Venmo because you still have the free option available to you by using a debit card.

### "The Best Way to Send Money"

March 22, 2021

5.0

Overall despite the dozens of offerings out there I don't think anything comes close to that of Venmo. It is so simple to use and gives small businesses the ability to accept cashless payments with the utmost ease. It also functions as a fun lite social media platform where people can have fun with the reasons they are getting paid. I think Venmo brings the best of PayPal and Social Media together to create the ultimate paying solution.

Pros

Venmo is the best payment solution out there. There are many competitors like Zelle, Cash App, Alipay, but I personally believe Venmo is the best. I appreciate the fact that it is backed by PayPal, one of the largest payment methods out there so you know the company can be trusted. I also like all of the additional offerings they have like the Venmo Credit & Debit card, which I both use. Using a QR code based system it makes knowing who you are paying much easier so you feel safe in sending the payment to the right person. It even features their profile photo so you know you have the right person.

Cons

I do not like that even with the Venmo Credit Card you still have to pay the credit card fee, it should be free for those with the Venmo credit card. I also think they should give you 60 seconds after you send the payment to verify it was in fact the right person and amount.

### "Money Transfer brought to your fingers"

March 11, 2021

4.0

Venmo has been an easy-to-use app for me. Just asking for improvement on initial privacy settings and to make the app work internationally.

Pros

I have know this app as a very easy and user-friendly way of sending and receiving money. The first thing one would notice is the ease of signing up. There is an option to sign in with your Facebook account and venmo will be fine with your FB details to have your account set up. Transfer of money is made easy, just like receiving and replying to a social media message. You just receive a transfer request from a friend and click a button to accept. The app is also transparent, in that you know all the costs right on signing up. It also has intelligence of picking people from your contact list so that you don't transfer your money to unknown people. Unless you chose to add them manually. You can secure your account with PIN or fingerprint Limitation of money transfer is not a problem. If the account ID is not yet verified, you can transfer up to $299.99 per week. If verified, it goes up to $6,999.99 in a week. Another good thing about venmo is that you are provided with a debit card which can be used on ATMs. This is not very common with its competitors.

Cons

One thing that I didn't like to realise was that transactions are not kept private, they can be views by other users elsewhere, unless you change your private settings. Something that I could not think of, soon after opening my account. I challenge that I also discovered was that payments are only possible within the US, not across the world.

### "Venmo | Is it For You?"

October 25, 2022

5.0

Overall, I've appreciated having Venmo around. It allows me to easily transfer and receive money. It does it's job, and generally doesn't take a cut of money transferred (unlike some of it's competitors). I find the social media aspect of Venmo as strange, and I don't use it for communication or interaction (especially with better social medias out there). If this were removed from the app, then I don't think it would harm it. Plus, it's a free and secure app.

Pros

Venmo is a quick and easy to use app for transferring and processing payments. I primarily use it for transferring money to and from friends for payments in my social life, though I do occasionally use it for "business" related things. It is a capable app with security. I know my payments will go through, I know I'll receive payments, and I'm not worried that someone will hop on my account and destroy my finances.

Cons

I think the main issue I have with Venmo is it's attempt at being a social media. It is effective for transferring, requesting, and receiving funds. I've multiple "friends" on there who I generally receive/send funds to. That is nice. I am not, however, a fan of having a social media feed in which people can like or comment on funds I've sent/received. It seems unnecessary and a non-sequitur for an app used to transfer funds.

### "Easy, secure and fun way of paying"

February 3, 2024

One time I got logged off and customer service was able to get me in with no issues- I would recommend the app for its friendly user interphase, high level of security and excellent customer service

Pros

One of my favorite things is that I can Customize my payment name with emojis or add inside jokes. It makes it so fun to look at previous transactions!

Cons

Never had any issues! But if I could suggest something is more personalization of the venmo cards
