Writing a check to a friend or going to get cash for them is really not a big deal, but the second they ask me if I have a Venmo, it solves the problem of that slight inconvenience. That is the thing that it does best. Make sure that you remember that and keep that in front of your audience. Security is also HUGE. If you ever have a slip in that department, I predict it will be the end of your company. As a consumer, I am trusting, but uninformed when it comes to your security measures. It might be a good idea to educate your customers as well as potential clientele. Pros Frankly, Venmo is too easy to use. I really and going to have a hard time being critical because for some reason, out of all of the apps out there that do basically the same thing, Venmo is the one that all of my friends and family are comfortable using. It was not difficult to set up. I mean that. If my mother-in-law can do it without calling me for tech support, than it is easy to do. It makes sharing the cost of other services like Youtube TV so easy, and the icing on the top of the cake is that it is free. I don't know how, but that is absolutely the best thing about this service. Well done! Cons I don't see much of a point to the social networking side of the software. It is great and often funny to see what family and friends will type up for the money they send me, but I see no need for the rest of my contacts to have access to those 3-4 word notes. They don't ultimately add any value to anyone else's life. I don't really care if the messaging it is there or not. To me it is just white noise. Also, I am sure that the Venmo credit card is a huge money maker for your service, but I am not nor will I ever be interested in a credit card that won't be accepted absolutely everywhere. If it is accepted everywhere, than I am woefully uninformed and it might be a good idea to promote where you can use it in your next ad campaign. Review Source Laylah B. I remember agonizing over splitting big dinner bills with 10+ people, where one guy would have to say "Put it on my credit card and they'll all pay me back" - but would they? Now you can invoice your friends if they didn't send it to you already, and the stress about $ among friends and family can go away! Pros Venmo first was recommended to me in 2016-17 when I was doing lots of Uber driving. Tips were a big thing then, but most young people don't carry cash and other digital tips (like swiping their card on the Square) were a little awkward to ask about. Paypal had a digital money sending function but it wasn't as fast and wasn't as social (although I think Paypal is a parent company to Venmo.) Venmo spread among the Uber drivers here as the way to post your Venmo screename in your backseat for riders to tip you in case they liked the ride. From there it grew into the aspects of how my friends, my wife, and even our family pay each other back for meals, groceries, errands, other odds and ends, or split a bill. Cons I wonder about bank fraud security but it's likely just a lack of knowledge about the protections Venmo takes. They did not ask me as the user to set up passwords or pins or fingerprints to open the Venmo app (I had to search for it and set it up) - which means they're probably alot of users out there who, if their phone falls into the wrong hands unlocked, could fall prey to a stranger trying to empty their account and pay themselves. Pros What I like about Venmo, the most is being able to send and receive Money instantly. Cons sometimes the cards that you have stored don’t work so you have to use it directly . They allow me to quickly recieve money and quickly pay money, which in today's society is a must for fast transactions. The company is also very trustworthy which is another great plus when you are exchanging money. Pros Venmo is a widely used and highly accepted payment method used by individuals in which it is easy to collect money from colleagues and friends and clients. Venmo has great security and there is a lot of trust for the company. The ability to send requests to receive money also benefits the business as you can quickly and easily generate invoices. Cons You can only link 3 cards/debit cards at a time, however the ability to link more would be greatly appreciated. Pros My friends and I call Venmo our "fun money" account. Having the ability to easily move and share money between accounts and friends has made life so much easier. I so rarely carry cash and can't always offer to put the entire bill on my card. So many outings have been made more relaxing because of Venmo. We simply transfer money among each other and sort things out in the moment rather than having to run to ATMs or pay with multiple credit cards. As for my business, because Venmo doesn't charge any fees, it has become easier to accept payments while outdoors. Instead of having to deal with cash that could easily fly away or become stolen, clients pay me on-site via Venmo. I no longer have to carry a cash purse and change. It has simplified running the financial side of my business. Cons I can't complain about anything. Venmo is overall a great product. Pros I love how simple and user friendly it is. I was able to start using it same day I downloaded the app. It is super easy on the go and if I forget my card I can have my friends cover me and I pay them back. Overall a great experience. Pros Venmo is easy and simple to use, all transactions are exceptionally safe and I have no worries when transacting with international clients and friends abroad through my paypal account. Cons The social feed aspect to Venmo is off-putting a bit as I don't necessarily want some of my friends abroad seeing what I spend my money on, otherwise, no other issues I can think of. It's extremely simple to send money to others and I enjoy the simplicity of how easy it is to navigate. It doesn't have the options to figure out complicated splitting but there are other apps for that. I've never had issues with lag or payments not going through. It seems very reliable to me and has gotten what I wanted to do done. I've used it between friends but also with businesses or to vendors to pay for tips. Very easy to scan the QR codes anywhere Pros This is my favorite method to pay friends because of how easy it is to scan or find a user in order to quickly pay them. My payments as well as withdrawals have always used. Its also very popular so most of my friends do have access to it. The QR code is very easy and quick to scan. App never lags for me. Cons I have never personally had this problem with this software but I have had a couple friends that had issues with Venmo before and weren't able to send me via there because Venmo was having trouble with the validation part with their bank, so instead the friend would have to send me via zelle or paypal. August 6, 2019 5.0 Overall my experience with Venmo has been great. The money is always transferred to my bank account very fast and I never had to reach out to them over any issues ever! In addition, money is also sent really fast when I make transfers. Venmo has completely changed the way I handle my financial transactions and I would reccomend for others to give it a try too! Pros Venmo is great not only for personal use but also work as well! I have been able to use Venmo with my colleagues to split the costs of different events and for many job-related things. Whenever one person pays for something, the rest of us are able to split the cost and send money via Venmo. This is particularly great for event planning when we often buy many different things and so we can all pay each other back for purchases. Cons What I liked the least about this software is that money transfers between individuals are public by default. I don't like this feature at all and think it's rather invasive due to the fact that other people can see who I'm sending money to and for the reasons why I'm sending the money. Pros I really enjoyed the versatility of having a option to pay and receive payment from others on the go when I'm not able to access bank cards or even my mobile phone. Cons If you lose your device there's no way to really recover some options unless you have multiple devices already connected. It makes money transfer easier and more fun than PayPal had ever been. Now with Paypal's heft, we should see a steady stream of improvements. Their recent debit card release is proof of that. Pros Venmo make it easy to send over money in just a few clicks without having to dig into menus or settings. For frequent contacts, it's even faster. The feed, while not for everyone, allows you to quickly see what you and your friends have transferred, along with helpful descriptions that are heavy on emojis. Finally, setting up a bank account and eventually withdrawing money to that bank account are simple. For those wanting immediate withdrawals, Venmo offers that for an extra fee. Cons For those that are't as keen on the social feature, there's no real way to turn it off. You do have the option of making all of your transfers private, but the feed is still there. Would be great if in addition to your personal feed, there were better reporting tools in the app. Finally, the immediate transfer option was formerly 25 cents, but it's now 1% of the amount, which doesn't make it practical unless there's an urgent need. March 10, 2020 5.0 Venmo makes small money transactions much faster and easier than with any app before. I've used it almost daily, and I can't say I've run into any issues or long wait times. I can't even rate their customer service, because I've never had an error or a transaction mistake in the entire 4-5 years I've used it. From paying rent to splitting the dinner bill with friends, this app makes money transactions easier than ever. Pros Venmo is quick, easy, and accessible. Users can very quickly set up an account, connect their card or bank information, and start sending money to friends and family! The app is very fast, without requiring too many clicks or menu navigation to quickly send or receive money. It can also transfer to your bank account in just a few days for free, or it can be expedited for a small fee. Cons There really aren't many cons with Venmo. I would say one concern that users may want to look into is that if they use a credit card instead of bank information as their primary source of money, the app will charge extra fees. This is a minor complaint, but I've known a few users who had been unaware of this and were paying a fee for each transaction. Also, making a payment is very easy. Overall, the app is very user-friendly and easy to use. Cons Personally, I wish there wasn't a fee to use a credit card for payments. Also, I think there is a lack of data security in that folks probably don't realize that their payments are being broadcast in a social media-like feed that all can see when they log onto the app. I can understand the fun in seeing what people are purchasing, but for others, they may be stunned to realize that they needed to change their Default Privacy to Private or else the entire internet can see what they are spending their money on. Most people have venmo these days so people are comfortable using it. -I like that it emails me and texts me when I get money Cons \-it can be confusing to figure out at first. For example, when you are trying to find a friend to send money to I always get worried I am sending it to the wrong person. They have a code you can scan to find friends but it requires you to be in the same place as the friend to scan in person. Otherwise you are hoping that you enter the user name correctly. -The safety features on the app are not great in my opinion. I had an issue with fraud not too long ago, and venmo was completely unwilling to do anything about it. They would not investigate the problem even though someone scammed me. Basically you have to treat the money you send on the app as if it were cash and once you send it you will never see it again. Also if you dispute your credit card for fraud, then venmo will automatically disable your account. -I also don't really like that I can see other purchases made to other people when i send them money. Some things I would prefer to send privately and it seems to be all public. If there is a feature to make it private, it is not obvious . It should have a button to click to make it private when you send money to someone.
