Its a very good product. Pros I like the fact that people can split up0 their payment or instantly repay thier friends. I t just makes things so much easier for everyone. I also like that the payments can be private so others cannot see the amounts sent/received. Cons Venmo is one of my favorite apps; however, what could be improved is the ability to make the user/recipient private from your contacts in addition to the amount. Most people have venmo these days so people are comfortable using it. -I like that it emails me and texts me when I get money Cons \-it can be confusing to figure out at first. For example, when you are trying to find a friend to send money to I always get worried I am sending it to the wrong person. They have a code you can scan to find friends but it requires you to be in the same place as the friend to scan in person. Otherwise you are hoping that you enter the user name correctly. -The safety features on the app are not great in my opinion. I had an issue with fraud not too long ago, and venmo was completely unwilling to do anything about it. They would not investigate the problem even though someone scammed me. Basically you have to treat the money you send on the app as if it were cash and once you send it you will never see it again. Also if you dispute your credit card for fraud, then venmo will automatically disable your account. -I also don't really like that I can see other purchases made to other people when i send them money. Some things I would prefer to send privately and it seems to be all public. If there is a feature to make it private, it is not obvious . January 10, 2022 4.0 It has made it so much easier to collect payments and it is also easy to keep a record of those payments. Really, the only problem we have run into is that international clients often do not have Venmo. Pros Venmo is incredibly simple and fast to use--how did we ever live without it?! From a personal standpoint, it is indispensable. From a business standpoint, it has proved to be very useful for getting payments for "add-on" excursions and services that our educational programs offer. Although we use a different software for registration and payments, many of our on-location programs offer additional opportunities for students to participate in. When I started working for the company in 2016, we used CASH....please try and imagine the stress I'd experience while carrying thousands of dollars through a busy city like San Francisco on my way to the bank. Venmo has been a lifesaver in providing an easier way to collect money! Cons We work frequently with international students, and Venmo is not used as widely internationally. Depending on how recently they have moved to the U.S., a lot of the students don't use Venmo. This is not a big issue, but it does cause some slight issues as we need to find a different way to charge small transactions with the students who don't use Venmo. It's a familiar product most people are already using, so it's a great tool to implement in sales/ accounts receivable. I love using Venmo! Pros This is a great tool- its very popular so many people already have/use the app frequently so it's familar to most. It allows for us to take payments/make sales whether or not the person has cash, debit, or credit card on them- it could be the difference between missing a sale or not. Cons There isn't much to dislike about using Venmo. The small fees for an instant transfer is usually no hassle and it makes sending money a breeze. I just wish it were compatible with non-US accounts. Pros Venmo makes it super easy to pay back friends and family for covering something for you or lending you money. It's also great for splitting bills and keeping people accountable for what they owe/what you owe. The stream of activity allows you to keep track of where money has gone and come from and what for. It's a very intuitive user interface with simple use. Having a venmo card is great for when you don't have the time (or maybe don't have your phone) to be able to transfer the money. Works just like a debit card would at retailers and is completely free to get! Cons Non-US accounts cannot be connected to the app thus forcing people to go to PayPal in certain instances and it makes money sharing with long-distance family nearly impossible. The fee for instant transfer to debit has also increased which is just a tad annoying because larger amounts cost more to transfer or you have to wait a couple days and sometimes that's not an option in case of emergency. Venmo functions through a mobile app and instantly alerts parties when funds have been sent or received. The transaction itself usually takes about 1-3 business days to reflect in your account, which for some, isn't as instant but is fairly quick! Venmo is a must for anyone running a small business, or simply those who'd like to transfer funds instantly. It's become a staple app in the US for money transactions. Cons Any sort of money exchange for businesses and individuals should feel private. Venmo's account settings default to public, making transactions visible on your profile as if it were an online social platform. You can of course set your privacy settings so that all transactions remain private, but this in my opinion should be automatically implemented. While other users can't see the amount publicly that's been transferred, they can see who was involved in the transaction, along with the description. It's a bit of a hassle to type all all those numbers out from my phone. That's about it. Being able to move money from Venmo back into my checking account is also very simple. Pros How ridiculously easy it is to send cash to a friend or family member. After creating your Venmo account, you simply link it to a debit card or checking account (don't use a credit card as there's a 3% fee for every transaction), and from there you can connect to friends/family already on the platform (Facebook is useful for this). Although there are weekly caps, it's around US $3000, so you can use the app for most scenarios. Recently, Venmo partnered PayPal, so you can now use Venmo on any sites/apps that allow PayPal checkout. Cons I'm not crazy about the app essentially installing itself as a social networking app where I can see all contacts' Venmo transactions (and they can see mine) by default. It's a very great tool for quick transfers and for an additional bank account that is practically free. Pros Venmo is absolutely great for quick, cheap, and easy transfers for money to friends. For business conferences where we have to split a ride or hotel, using venmo makes it extremely easy to keep track of expenses, and transactions. They also now have their own debit cards with many perks. Since its powered by Paypal its very secure which is important to me. Cons The only con is for businesses that use PayPal as a payment processing system, it would be great to see a way to transfer the funds into the PayPal account since they are powered by PayPal. It is quick and easy. The only thing I would suggest is the change of how a payment can be cancelled or reversed and also how long it takes to get payments. It is a great app and I do enjoy having it. Pros I personally do not use this for work. I strictly use this for personal reasons. I have enjoyed using Venmo as it allows me to pay back friends and family when I need to borrow money or if I need to pay half of what we are purchasing together. For example, my mom takes me to a store and I forgot my wallet at home. She offers to buy it for me if I pay her back. I immediately Venmo her money and she can know that I have done what I said I would. Super easy and convenient. It’s also great to use when you share rent with someone as they can pay you for their half of rent. Many usages! Also I’ve bought items from farmers markets and little shops using Venmo! Super handy. Cons What I didn’t like is that I would receive several scammers reaching out to me after they would send me money and ask me to send it back. This is very dangerous and can lead to people losing money by being a Good Samaritan. I have had to call venmo support multiple times to get the payment reversed so the money goes back to the sender and I don’t have to do anything at all. This protects the user from being scammed by reporting the payment to venmo so they can cancel/reverse the payment. I wish that venmo had the option to say “refuse payment” so that if someone really did accidentally send money you can cancel their payment. An App is a great place as long as you give divided control and simple use for your friends and spouse. Pros The software has been a liable money source society has been able to depend on the past decade, and continues in doing so to this very day. Various other sources like Zelle have become an affordable source of identical payments, but have yet the Venmo remains the same and is just as instant. You can send through debit cards, bank accounts, and create a reversible to the effectiveness of one's balance between both parties. Money is sent out in full fashion for free, and the funds can be either private or sent on a social media platform like Facebook. Cons The platform can be populated with scammers. It is wise to use this App with caution from your network surroundings and with a permanent settlement. People have been scammed by requested fake payments. Payments may not be canceled unless asked from the same spouse. International payments are also not acceptable in the process; you need to live within the United States and have a United States cell phone number. Another great feature that has really made our experience great is that you can request money! A farrier trims a clients shoes at the clinic, he gets on his app sends a request for the total amount and boom you just sent your client an invoice! I love using it for my personal needs such as splitting the eating out bill, paying a friend back for gas, or just sending someone some cash love to say thank you! I have not had a bad experience with Venmo. Pros I love just how easy this whole system is to use. I love that I was able to get it downloaded within minutes onto our clients phone and help them walk through paying our farriers. It has a great east to use format and design. I love that you can write down what you sent or received the money transfer for, it really helps keep everything organized. I love the ease of getting my venmo money. All I have to do is click one button and it transfers to my bank account! Cons Not a fan of having to see everyone transactions. It would be nice if they at least kept the money exchanged private. Some of the fun of this app is the funny things you can call the transactions, or using fun emojis, but it might be nice if you can still do that to "show the world" so to speak you did a transaction, but have an option to not show the price. It would be nice to keep the actual cost of the transaction private. Reason for choosing Venmo Overall ease of downloading zelle to clients phones. The product have all the creatures of PayPal and in addition to that it offers several benefits as well. The feature that I like the most is the offers and cash back rewards which are very frequent and recurring. This product helped me a lot and saved me hundreds of dollars. Cons The product is very well overall but this is not an acceptable form of payment everywhere. Small businesses and companies, sores etc are not able to process the payments which went through Venmo. They should expands their reach.
