Pros It's very easy to use. You can send/receive money from anyone, and anywhere. It is best used for dinners, rent payments, etc. Cons I don't like that you have to use your debit card without being charge a fee. The money is also accessible within 1-3 business days, which I would like to see this guaranteed to be available within 1 day maximum. " September 17, 2019 4.0 Before getting Venmo, I found it such a pain to transfer funds or split the bill with others as nowadays no one really carries cash around anymore. After getting it, it has made my life so much easier. However, I do wish that Venmo could be used in a variety of countries with a variety of currencies, or even letting us connect other bank accounts (that aren't from the US) to the account so more people can use it. I'm also not a fan of the fees that people would have to pay if they wanted their credit cards to be connected to Venmo instead of a bank account. Pros Venmo is my go-to whenever I need to transfer cash to other people or just splitting the dinner bill with my friends. It's so convenient, fast, and easy to use that I find myself using Venmo at least once a day (which I guess is pretty bad for my wallet now that I'm thinking about it...). Anyway, since it's almost always impossible to split the bill between more than 3 people in a restaurant, with Venmo, I'm not longer worried to pay first for the table, then request my friends for their share. Cons It's a shame that you can only set up a Venmo account if you have a US bank account. This makes it difficult for people from different countries and don't have a US bank account, but is still in the US for a good amount of time to be using Venmo. This would've been extremely useful for them as they would usually have contact with locals who have Venmo which makes splitting bills complicated when they go out for example. Overall, my experience is positive. Pros Venmo is great because it's easy to access and use. The app is free, major bonus! Payment/transaction history can be shared publicly or hidden according to preference, love this feature! Sending and receiving funds is mostly painless! Most of all.. it's well known and hardly ever gives users a problem... not in my experience at least! Venmo gets the job done. Cons Venmo is slow and glitchy at times which can be a real pain. September 23, 2021 5.0 Venmo is quite easy. Affordable. A quick easy way for people to send payments that don't involve a lot of steps from them or myself. Pros I love the ease of it. I used venmo for myself for my personal use and found the platform real easy and so when I started using it for business because all my clients had that then it was a no brainer. Any way that my client preferred with pay with we would add on the ways we would be able to collect. Venmo by far has been the easiest app to deal with. Cons If you are using it for a professional service then they will charge you just like anything else but that comes with the safety. If you are using it for a professional reason and the customers complains they are enabled to get their money. So do yourself a favor and pay the normal credit card usage fee. Reason for choosing Venmo I chose it because the app never had any issues. We have had issues with the Zelle app and platform before where it would make us keep linking our bank account when we had previously already. It was quite annoying. The app is 100% safe and trustworthy and now I prefer it over PayPal. Before sending payments to a new user you are asked to confirm the account information which is helpful. I use Venmo when buying and selling things on Facebook marketplace. I also use it to pay for services such as babysitting, photo shoots, dinner with family, and more. It's made life much easier and made it easy to split the costs of things! Pros Venmo is incredibly easy to use (all you have to do is link you bank information and away you go). I also like how it is so widely used and thus the people I exchange money with (i.e. on Facebook marketplace, babysitters, friends and family, etc.) all use the app. Cons I do not have any complaints. Venmo has worked extremely well for me and I have not had any issues with sending or receiving payments. It is a quick and secure way to send/request money without worrying about having different bank accounts. I also like that there are no hidden fees and that transferring balances has been quick/easy. I highly recommend Venmo! Pros Venmo provides an easy and efficient way to pay or request money from someone without the trouble of specific bank fees. For example, I have a Chase account however my friends use TD bank. There is no easy way to transfer money from Chase bank to TD bank but Venmo is the perfect liaison for that. It also allows you to request money and there are reminders to remind the person that they have not yet sent their money to you. The app itself is very easy to use as well. On the bottom of the app, you have a QR scan code to directly pay the person that you intend to send money to which helps with security issues as usernames can be similar if you have the same first and last name. In addition, Venmo has an additional security feature that requires a persons last four digits of their phone number if you have never sent money to that person before. It also does not require a specific amount to transfer your balance to your bank account. Some other applications require a $5 or $10 balance in order to transfer your money to your bank account. Honestly, Venmo has many great features and convenient! Cons Recently, I got an email from Venmo requiring me to verify my identity with some steps however when I tried to follow the directions of going into Settings, there was no option to "verify" my identity. It may have been a glitch or it may have been a feature that is testing. Venmo should clarify this. I have tried to look for support with no one responding to my inquiry. Pros Venmo makes it extremely easy to send someone money instantly. I use it to pay my niece to cut my hair. My sister-in-law uses it to pay me for mowing their lawn. I can easily send or collect money from my siblings who live all across the country. I have also used it to collect donations from coworkers to buy flowers for a funeral. Depositing the money in your bank account is fast and easy too. Cons Once you send the money, you can't get it back or dispute the transaction. Venmo says it is for friends and family only and should not be used with strangers. You can request money, but people don't have to pay back. Many people use Venmo on virtual yard sales, but it is a risk to take because Venmo won't investigate fraud. One of my biggest complaints about Venmo is that a bank account can only be linked to one user. So my wife can only access our joint bank account. If someone sends me money, I have to send it to my wife first before we can deposit the money. Pros I like how simple the software is to use. It is easy to request/pay family and friends that I owe money to. It is such a geat way to never forget you owe someone and get behind. I have never had any problems with Venmo which makes my experience very positive. I am happy to recommend Venmo to my friends especially since they are in college where it is very useful in selling textbooks and receiving monthly bills from housemates! Pros I love the ability to send money and personalize the memos that go with it. It is much more personal, fun, interactive, and user friendly compared to PayPal. There is also the ability to transfer money into your account quickly if you need the funds for a very low cost. The interface is easy to use and understand for everyone who is of the eligible age to use Venmo. You can transfer money for whatever reason! I personally use it for bills and even research incentives for research participants. Cons I love everything about Venmo. I find it easy to use and I have no problems with using it. Some people may find the verification process annoying however, it is a way to make sure your bank account and personal information is not being breached. January 18, 2022 5.0 Overall it's a very simple what you see is what you get type tool. That I will continue to use as it's pretty much an industry standard. Pros The great thing about this software is the ease of use! I am able to find previous payments for reoccurring payments! Most importantly though I never have to worry about security! Cons It would be nice to have the reoccurring payments in as a basic user or at least a reminder tool. Sometimes a client asks to use this app instead of any other payment source so being able to track that is imperative. I have never had an issue with my funds with this app and that makes me feel secure and happy to keep using the app. I use it even more than paypal, cashapp or any other payments received app. Pros I've been using Venmo for years now and the main things I like about the app are ease of use and low/no fees. I constantly have people ask me if I use Venmo which means mainstream adoption. Its easy to send payments to others or receive them, especially with the QR code. And I've never had an issue with the app or transfer of funds. I love how funds are instant transactions and quickly done in a few moments time. Cons I feel it could use some more features such as transaction history, download .csv files and I don't feel the community feature really adds anything to the software itself. Literally no reason for it in my opinion. Perhaps allowing to buy, accept or transfer cryptocurrencies would be good (like Cash app does). I've heard rumors of limiting the amount of received funds in a month and some accounts have been blocked for this? Send it directly from your PayPal or bank account into another person's venmo account. From there, they can take that money and send it to someone else, to their bank, or paypal! Cons I had a friend who sent money to someone, but his bank account balance was a few dollars off. They ended up shutting his account down and would not reactivate even if he paid back the 2 dollars. I very rarely have cash on me anymore since I know I can usually just use my phone if I need to. It also makes splitting expenses easy, paying people for odd jobs/random tasks, and coordinating eating out or going on trips together much easier than it ever has been before. One person can book it (get the points, as a bonus) and then request other people involved to pay them back. It's so simple and I can't imagine going back. It's safe, secure, and easy. Pros Venmo is so simple to use, and virtually everybody uses it. Especially during Covid, so many businesses are starting to accept Venmo as payment (instead of cash or card). I really love the use of QR codes and the phone number verification to ensure that money goes where it's intended to. Cons I understand that they want the platform to be socially engaged, but I also don't like the idea of everybody being able to see my business. I usually go in and make my transactions private so they don't show up on the feed. I wish there was a way to make them private by default. If there is I guess I haven't figured out how to do it yet. Money recipients can cash out immediately to their bank accounts for a small fee, or wait up to two business days (usually just ONE for me!) to cash out. Cash out and transfer limits do exist, but they are so high that they barely matter. - Pay rent to your roommates/landlord - no more messing with paper checks and waiting for people to cash them! - Make splitting the bill or gas money for a trip instant and painless - You can even get a debit card so you can spend money in your Venom account immediately - don't even worry about a two biz-day transfer or instant transfer fee! Most customers are already familiar with Venmo and are already using it. The new option for paying business is very well integrated into the app. Customers do not need to have a credit card with them to be able to buy things.
