I feel that venmo is very secure compared to other apps as they are always notifying me of suspicious logins or activity. I appreciate how user friendly it is, it's very simple for anyone to understand. Pros Venmo is overall very easy to use. It is super easy to locate others through the QR codes and transactions take seconds. I also love how quick and easy it is for you to get your money. The fees are reasonable. Cons There is no issues I had with venmo. I feel everything is spot on compared to other apps. I would say sometimes the app has bugs, but other than that nothing. This is a safe verification of who you are paying. It gets complicated when you have to pay someone who is remote or a stranger, and they only share a username or phone number with you. Pros It is easy enough to use. Modern looking and quick/easy payments. Cons Verification of whether the payment has gone to the right person is not good at all. There have been cases where people only give a unverified username or phone number to send money to. The payment is instantaneous and it can be easy to lose money this way. They need to add some sort of verification to make sure the payment is going to the right person. Customer service also is hard to reach and mostly it is automated. Review Source MW Miranda W. It's allowed me to collect payments and/or send refunds instantly. It's so simple and easy to navigate. Venmo is very user friendly. Customer service is always willing to support you in any way they can. If you lose your debit card there's a function to turn it off STAT! Venmo is one of my top favorite online banking services. Cons The only thing that i'm not that pleased with is sometimes when you try to link your bank account it rejects it or it doesn't work. I don't think Venmo is well suited for business transactions. Venmo has unique elements like likes, messages, comments etc which make it feel like social media. If Venmo didn't have privacy issues - I would highly recommend Venmo to anyone looking for an easy digital payment solution. Pros The best thing about Venmo is its simplicity. The UI is simple and so is the payment process - just scan the QR and pay or ask for payment. Sharing payment on a group is also easy with Venmo. Another thing that's plus point to Venmo is that most people use it. Also the money we receive is made available instantly. It can also be used to pay on some sites. Cons I think Venmo should focus on the privacy aspect of its users as it had had some problems in last due to its privacy concerns. Also, once payment is mistakenly made - it's hard to reverse it. I contacted customer service and they said me to ask for the money from the receiver. Pros How often to we find ourselves tediously splitting up a bill while the waiter is waiting? How often do we not have cash to pay someone back easily? Venmo will help you with these things and many more situations in which you want to quickly transfer someone money. AT first I was skeptical about the App, since I had to enter my bank account information to use it. But I have been benefitting it for a few years now and never had any safety or information leak concerns. You can label your money transfer with fitting emojies or a funny little description and pay off your debts to your friends, pay rent, or support a fundraiser. Cons I cannot think of any significant issues with the software, but if I had to choose my least favorite attribute, I would say it is the time it takes to transfer money from your Venmo account to your bank for free. Web site developer Computer Software Used the software for: 6-12 months ### "Highly recommended but not outside the US or for big transactions" January 5, 2020 4.0 It is easy to use, and very practical for small transactions, paying your friends for dinner, and small purchases. I would not recommend it for big transactions, or to use it outside the US. Pros It is very practical and easy to use. You can link it with different cards and bank accounts, and is free to do transactions. You can use it to pay in a lot of stores and for different services or even apps like uber, only with your cellphone and with no need of your card or e-checks. It is easy to find the people you want to pay, searching their user name or scanning a QR code. You can do transactions without sharing any personal information. Your balance is transferable to your bank account, without any fees if you are willing to wait three days. You can do it faster paying a 1% fee. You can have a venmo card and use it as any other debit card. Cons There is no customer service phone number available, you cannot reach their office if someone goes wrong. The only way to reach them is through twitter or email. Using it outside the country may bring problems. The app gets inaccurate, and I had trouble linking it to my bank account. The venmo card is a mastercard, but it does not work outside the US either. I would not use it for big transactions or link it to bank accounts with savings or a big ammount of money. Whether I'm paying a babysitting, purchasing something off Facebook Marketplace, or splitting dinner with a friend, just about everyone I know has Venmo and knows how to use it. Cons Be sure that you're sending money to the right person! Check their profile picture. If you send money to the wrong person, you will likely not have a way to recieve it back. Venmo makes these transactions SUPER easy. I really like that I'm able to keep certain transactions private if I want to but I can also publicly share other transactions for things like when I go out to eat with friends. Venmo also automatically prompts you to change text to emojis. It isn't required but is a fun feature. Pros Venmo is by far the easiest cash app I've ever used. Syncing it to my bank was extremely simple. Paying and requesting money is as simple as a few button clicks. The ability to upload a profile picture helps ensure you're paying/requesting money from the right person. I also really like the ability to store money in my Venmo wallet and then do a transfer into my bank account at the end of the month. This way I'm not generating lots of transactions on my bank statements. Cons The only thing I wish Venmo would change is the ability to remind people about a payment request more than once. Currently if you request money from someone and they forget about it you can remind them, but only once. After that there's no longer an option to remind them and you have to make a new request. In fact, I do a lot more with PayPal than with Venmo. The lack of international currency support is also a draw back (but an understandable one) Pros I appreciate that it is a much simpler, more straight forward payments app. You've really nailed the target audience of 'making payments between close friends and family' Cons I hate that you're trying to make it 'social' - I really don't want to see other people's payments, nor do I want other to see my payments. I make all of my transactions 'private' by default. But please, please, please show something different than a 'feed' on the home screen. It is creepy and weird. It is also very challenging to make 'reoccurring' payments - like say for rent, or utilities, which are frequently used by your target audience. The fact that I have to remember each month to go in and initiate the payment for something I already know in advance is going to happen feels silly to me. On the actual payments screen, there is something funny about the way I indicate whether I am requesting or sending money... I feel like just about every time I do this (which is about once a month) I have to really look at the UI to make sure that I am in fact sending (rather than requesting) payment. It just needs to support multi-account functionality so that people will use it instead of Square or PayPal. Pros Venmo is perfect in college where you might be paying rent on behalf of multiple people, or utilities, etc. And same goes for a workplace setting, where you might get lunch out with a big group and can't split the check. It's super convenient with to be able to pay from Venmo funds or from your bank account (also easy to set that up!). Cons The biggest issue I faced with Venmo was when I was Treasurer of an organization, I wanted to make an account so that our customers could pay us for merchandise via Venmo (much easier than trying to have cash, or getting a Square for credit cards). This is something any one of our board members could've had downloaded. But signing in and out of a personal vs. group account is not easy, especially when it wants to be verified from a phone number. This process is easy. You do not have to check your bank account number. You just need to follow the steps in Venmo and use your login user name and password set in your bank mobile app. Then you can easily connect Venmo to your checking account. After you finish this connecting process, you can easily pay your friend to their Venmo account. It is also easy to transfer money from your Venmo account to your bank account by this app. Cons 1\. I do not know (or I cannot find) how to transfer money by using Venmo login on a Windows 10 interface to transfer money to my friend. Maybe Venmo does not intend to let people use Venmo to transfer money on a desktop machine. 2. By Venmo's default setting, every transfer is public and I do not like this.
