Plus instant funding and payment is unbeatable for me. Pros The best thing about Venmo is that for a smaller scaled operation like myself and my tutoring business, it's quite simple to get paid quickly, which is so important to me. I love the fact that I can have a business account in addition to my personal account, and it looks really nice for customers. ACH and debit transfers are automatic, which is awesome. Cons I don't like that it's not very streamlined how to collect payments from clients. It seems tacky to have to send them a QR code instead of something more like PayPal or Authorize.net, etc. However, the business feature helps this a lot, and I know there are ways to incorporate Venmo links now. I do wish there was more flexibility in allowing you to replace debit cards. If you use Cashapp, it's worth giving Venmo a try if you haven't already! Pros What I like most about Venmo is that its user-friendly interface makes transactions between other parties quick and easy. I feel my data is secure with Venmo, which is one of the reason why I use it. It is becoming one of the more popular apps for money transactions along with Cashapp. Cons I feel that Venmo's app could use some UI improvements, more in terms of it's appearance than the functionality. I’ve never had an issue with it and I like the easy-to-use interface. Best current way to send money quickly. Pros I feel like everyone I know uses Venmo! That makes it extremely easy to pay friends and family for various reasons. The app is very easy to use and doesn’t cost anything unless you transfer money in certain ways (which I’ve never done and haven’t felt the need to at all). I feel like the security and privacy of my information is good, which is vital for an app these days. Cons Only con I can think about is that if you send money to the wrong username/account, I’ve heard it is basically impossible to get back unless the person gives it back willingly. That is why I always recommend people use the scan option with the QR-code so the odds of sending funds to the wrong person go down dramatically. Also, there is a $2,000 per month limit for transfers from what I can tell. I’ve never had a problem with that. I found it to be a bit confusing and the instructions provided felt vague. Pros Venmo makes sending cash to service providers, family, and friends effortless. You are allowed the option to split costs for services with other users as well. Unlike some other services, there isn't a fee associated with different payment types. You are even allowed the option to receive and use a Venmo issued debit card that allows access to your balance without having to transfer funds to an outside account. Cons Paypal gave service providers to issue an invoice to a client that could be itemized. With Venmo, although you can request money or payments, there is no ability to break down individual components of the service cost. You are able to (and required to) note what the request or payment is for, but that isn't as comprehensive. May 27, 2021 5.0 I switched to venmo from PayPal because of its ease-of-use and the fact that the majority of my clients use it instead PayPal. I did have several issues with PayPal and changing my personal information and accessing my account so I shut that down completely and now use venmo exclusively. I have been using it for over 2 years and I plan to keep doing so. Pros I like that it is available as an app and that the payments can be transferred immediately to my bank account for a very nominal fee. Cons I haven't had any issues with this software. The only thing I would like to see, which is strictly a matter of taste, is that more emojis or payment subject pictures were available to post on the transaction details. It is quick and easy and it is nice to have the ability to share a QR code to easily find a new contact. No real complaints here. This is in my regular rotation. Pros Ease of use. After initial set up the interface becomes second nature. Is nice to seem images of your co-workers or friends you need to process payments with, and the ability to add flare to your payments makes the experience more memorable. Cons Coming from PayPal, this seems like a more silly version of the system at first. But those are just additional window dressings. Once you are fully set up the functionality shines. Easy to use, everyone has it. Cons The front page of the app is so messy. None of the buttons have any rhyme or reason and they're hard to decipher. It needs to be cleaned up. This app makes it extremely useful for parents to pay me weekly and allows us to easily keep track of payments. Cons The thing I like least about Venmo is the charges. Using Venmo helped me realize how part of professionalizing as a freelance includes having a reliable set of tools to deploy. Pros Venmo is easy to use and even easier to make an account. As a freelance writer, some clients do not like to pay via paper check and our banks are not always compatible for transfers without a fee. Venmo is a free and quick option for these transactions. Clients love how quickly Venmo works with their bank to withdraw money and I appreciate how it quickly transfers into my account. Very efficient. Cons I wish the desktop version still had its complete features. Some people prefer transferring and requesting money on a computer versus a phone because their computer has more security software to prevent any data theft. It permit me easily transfer money with family members and freinds across the globe. Have no monthly or annual fees. Interestingly , it permit me pay for purchases when I run out of liquid cash. Customers who ought to pay their purchases with Venmo are welcome Cons Venmo charges immediate bank transfers. They prefer it to cash because it's safer and easier. Often our comics have to run from one show to another and tracking them down in a crowd to put cash in their hand can be a challenge. Pros We host dozens of events every year and Venmo allows us the flexibility to accept payment on the fly and to pay gratuity to our performers by their preferred payment method. Cons Mobile only is a limitation. We don't give out company mobile devices so it would be nice if they could process venmo payments on the company laptop. Sometimes it's our vendors paying us for site fees, other times it's between coworkers using the app for expenses outside of work. Easy to use, set up, and enjoyable to use the social features. Pros I love that Venmo is built like a social network and creates a personal experience for payees and billing at either the individual or small business level. Cons I dislike that the Venmo is not accepted everywhere. Sometimes it's jarring to hop from small business to small business and have to switch from Venmo, which is accepted at our company, to a seemingly-arbitrary payment application. The initial setup is the hardest part, although it isn't hard. After entering information for your financial institution, Venmo makes two tiny payments that you have to watch for at your bank and then enter the amounts to verify your identity and that the account really belongs to you. It's a bit of a time-consuming hassle, but I understand the need for verification and security. After your account is set up, just ask someone for their user name to send or receive money immediately. When you receive money, it goes into your Venmo account, and you have to check your account from time to time and manually transfer funds to your main financial institution. Venmo has been easy and a pleasure to use both personally and professionally. It's a superior and simpler interface and system to the digital payment systems of the past and is my new favorite. Pros Venmo removed the confusion and fine print of money transfers and made an easy and seamless way to conduct transactions digitally. Cons The "review by a human" trigger is unnecessarily sensitive.
