All my friends and family use venmo and its a great, quick, easy way to transfer money. Pros Venmo provides the option to either pay an individual or to request money from an individual. It is easy to link your debit card to the app and money can be withdrawn or added easily and within 24 hours into your bank account! I have used this for rent, sending money for birthday gifts, and many other ways. And it is free! This is the best free app to use to transfer money between people!!! Cons If you want instant money in your account, venmo does charge a certain percent. I never opt for this option since it is usually deposited within 24 hours anyway. I can see how this can be a con for people who want to see their money right away. Several breaches have happened in the past, and it also allows for people to dispute charges, which can be good but can also lead to people getting unfairly taken advantage of in third-party transacting. As a small business owner, it's not ideal for me to use because our customers are mostly online. We use a different pos system but when we're selling brick and mortar, we tried out using venmo but most customers wanted to pay with cash or card. Pros The payment service is fast, simple, and easy to use. As a small businesses owner, I realized quick that this was not going to be used by my customers, but instead it's used between my employees and I. For any operational spending, It was very easy for me to send one of my employees of to buy something and telling them "I'll venmo you" Cons The credit card and transaction fees. I understand Venmo need to make money somehow, but considering we had other options to save more money and handle transactions easier, it made no sense for us to continue using venmo. The software is intuitive, mobile, and takes away the stress and costs that a lot of other software and systems add to payments. It makes group business outings easy too! Pros My experience with Venmo has always been positive. Easy to use, quick transfer time, and of course, Free! Venmo is also flexible in that you can choose how quickly you'd like your money transferred in each instance, how many accounts you can link to, and the privacy settings. It's so useful! Cons Venmo's main downfall is their customer service. It is very hard to get in contact with an actual representative and even when you do, their help is often limited, even when it comes to security and fraudulent issues. I do wish that there was an option to cancel a transfer from the sender's side. There are times when I mistype the amount, the description, etc. and once the transfer is sent their is no cancellation option. I like it a lot and just about everyone I know has a Venmo account so its convenient for everyone. I have never had any issues with payment delays or errors with this app, and most of all I always enjoy the social media aspect of the app which can be very entertaining. Pros This product provides a safe and secure way for me to split bills with friends and roommates and also to electronically pay friends and family since I never carry cash. Venmo offers me several ways to add funds and even allows instant transfers to my checking account. This app has been around for a long time and has proven to be reliable and trustworthy. Cons The only con / downside to Venmo is that you cannot use it to invoice customers, the app does not provide payment protection in that way. So you gotta be careful not to send money to someone that you don't know or else you will have to go thru your bank to file a claim for the transaction. Pros I like how easy it is to use the Venmo app. You simply download it, connect your bank account and then you can start paying people and receiving payment with the tap of a button. Cons Since it's so easy to pay people, if you're not careful enough you can end up sending money to the wrong person (i.e. a complete stranger). This is such a great tool to use for business trips and across the globe. I have also NEVER had security or log in issues. Cons It is a little strange that you can see other users payments to friends. On top of that, you can engage with other people's payments. Venmo loses a little bit of authority due to that. January 18, 2022 5.0 Venmo has become such a natural part of my financial transactions with friends that I get completely thrown off whenever an international friend reminds me they don't have Venmo. I wish everybody in the world used it Pros I remember a time when paying friends was effortful. This was obviously before Venmo entered my life. Venmo is the quickest and most convenient payment app. It's easy to import my contacts, make sure who I'm paying and how much, even make the payment memo fun with emojis. I use it to pay friends, vendors, at one point I even used it to pay my rent. My Venmo account is linked to my debit account and I never have to worry about transferring money back and worth (between my bank and the app). Cons I don't really have any complaints about Venmo. The only feature I wish they had is the payment cancellation. When I'm sending money to a user that's not on my contact list I always worry slightly that I might end up sending it to the wrong person and not be able to cancel. Seeing small businesses using Venmo to facilitate cashless transactions has made paying for goods and services far more convenient and flexible. Particularly during the pandemic, it's great to be able to avoid having to use cash. Pros Venmo is incredibly easy to use, and provides easy ways to match payments to vendors. Particularly good is the verification and validation processes that are included, which help to ensure that payments are not mistakenly made to the wrong person or entity. The fees for using credit rather than bank transfers are minimal and affordable, which is particularly useful for larger transactions. Cons Venmo has social media integration, requiring you to include a comment with each transaction, and there are options to post the transactions you make publically. This is undesirable from a privacy standpoint, and though there are options to keep transactions private, Venmo strongly encourages these transactions to remain public through the design of their user interfaces and default options. I really dislike this aspect as I value my privacy and there are no obvious options to prevent this transaction data from being mined or sold to third parties. Review Source MY Mikaela Y. Security is better than other apps and allows privacy of personally account. Makes money easier to manage as well. Cons The rate to instant transfer money to the bank but can’t really do anything with that. I wish I could transfer to my card within days without having to use my bank account information. My overall experience has been great. Pros The best thing about this app is that it is extremely easy and fast to use. In a society that is more geared to card/online payments the use of cash is a lot less likely. Therefore people aren't carrying cash around as much as they use to. If someone owes me money, they can easily venmo me and it will be in my venmo balance instantly. You can even apply for a venmo card that uses your account balance, therefore never having to transfer to your bank. Cons Personally, I think the customer support team could be a lot better. For example, if you send the wrong amount to someone, or even send money to the wrong person it is almost impossible to get it back. I give private tutoring sessions to a few local families who pay me using Venmo. I also like to keep my Venmo balance at a certain amount so that I can quickly split the check when I go out with friends or family. I have also just received the Venmo credit card which I plan to use as a budgeting method. I will add my budgeted "fun money" to my Venmo account each month. Pros I love the convenience of Venmo. I seldom have cash on me, but Venmo provides a way to pay your friends back instantly. I like the interface of the App as well. It is set up to where you can use emojis or text to specify why you are paying someone (sort of like the memo section on a check.) I also like the Venmo debit card option because now I can use money in my Venmo account anywhere MasterCard is accepted rather than just paying my friends. Cons I don't love the Facebook-styled timeline aspect. I don't really want to see who my random Facebook friends are paying and why. I would rather it be more like a private account, or at least have the option to hide the timeline. Another problem I have come across is paying someone's old account. A friend had deleted his Facebook account and created another one and also a new Venmo account without deleting his old account. July 27, 2019 5.0 Overall, I love Venmo. It is very easy to use and lets you make very quick transactions. I can use Venmo to pay for so much more than just paying back friends. I also use Venmo to pay my rent because it is so convenient. Venmo just makes everything easier and not having to worry about having enough cash is a great feeling. Pros I like how easy it is to connect your bank account too and I feel safe having my bank information on Venmo. I also like that it has all your facebook friends but also lets you find other people if needed as well. It is so quick and convenient. It is so helpful to pay back friends without having to worry about if you have enough cash or not. Cons There is really nothing I didn't like about the software. The only "complaint" I would have is that there is a 3% fee for using a credit card. Debit cards are fine. There is also a very small fee if you want to put the money other people paid you in your bank account, but it is no big deal really. I really can't say enough how much I love this app and it's ease of use. I was probably leaving thousands of dollars a year on the table because it was awkward to ask to be reimbursed for things--not anymore! Cons The only downside is that there is a limit to what you can send each month. This has been an issue when sending mortgage payments, etc back and forth between my fiance and I.
