Pros Venmo provides a very easy way to make payments to you friends, colleagues and even to shoppers. Another great feature is that you can link your bank accounts by just providing your user ID and passwords without providing the all the details like routing number, account number etc. Cons Sometimes, while linking the bank account, the software faces a technical issue and asks you to try again later. Also, sometimes the software will delink your card and will not send an email/text to notify and you might be stuck in a situation where you want to pay with venmo but your bank account is nor delinked. January 10, 2023 3.0 Our overall experience hasn't been great, but I am giving the program one more shot just because it is so easy for people to pay through the app and almost everyone has it. Pros I like that the program is so easy to get set up on and can be an easy way for people to transfer you money for any products they buy. Cons I did not like that our account was hacked within the first month of opening our account and the hacker was able to easily transfer all our money into his bank account. It took several emails, phone calls, and wasted time just to get our money back from venmo. Cons I do not use the credit card function with venmo. I only use the cash payment option where people can transfer funds over to me. It is sometimes hard to get people my username/find people on the system. Admin Entertainment Used the software for: 2+ years ### "Venmo is the better Paypal" September 21, 2021 5.0 Venmo is made by Paypal and, comparing the two, I'd say Venmo is the winner when it comes to ease of use and more people choosing to use it over Paypal, making payments quick and easy. Pros It's easy to use when on the go for my mobile business. It allows me to accept payments from the majority and keeps a good log of the sales. Cons Navigating can be a little tricky sometimes. There's a lot of areas that you can click and be taken elsewhere when all I'm trying to find is my balance or my QR Code. I tend to fumble more finding these things than with other apps. Pros Venmo is a quick and easy way to make a quick payment with only a username or email. It's popular with elder millennials and Gen X. Venmo sent me a free promo kit with stickers and a lanyard with an acrylic tag that had my QR code on it. They're a great option for booths and events. Cons Venmo Business only has an interface for the app, there is not a desktop version. July 28, 2020 5.0 Venmo has been very useful in quickly transferring money between friends. It's a great option also if you want to stash money away for a rainy day or vacation fund. Venmo is the best money app I've ever used and I will definitely continue to recommend it to friends. Pros I love that it's free. There's no fees to have an account, or to use the card, with the exception of withdrawing money from an atm. They sent me a venmo debit card with my name on it, and the only time I lost it, they had it replaced in 5 days! Cons The ONLY thing I don't like about venmo is the atm withdrawal fee. It seems a little high compared to other cards I've had and it charged me 3$ for a 20$ withdrawal. Cons When someone wants to pay but hasn't set up an account yet, it requires some basic steps to do so. This is acceptable as every platform requires some type of account setup. Pros It is a quick and reliable way to pay vendors. When the vendors are more familiar with Venmo and can provide their QR code, it helps to ensure that you are paying the correct person. Cons The potential security issues of linking your bank accounts to the app. There is room for error when you try to search for a username can be misspelled or mistyped rather than using a QR code. Pros It's very easy to link to your bank account and allows you to transfer small amount of money to your friends and colleagues. Everything is track on the app, which allows you to account for every transaction you make and what is still pending. One of the features I like most about this app is that you have the option to either transfer your funds into you bank account, or to keep them within the app. Allowing you to pay for things with the money "banked" on your account. Cons I've been using this app for the past 2 years, and I have not found anything yet that I would consider bad. Some of the common complaints are with the amount of time it takes for the money to be transferred from the app to your bank account. Pros Venmo has become the most-common app for sending and receiving money between users. Simply find a user by code, username, or phone number, enter an amount and description, and choose whether to pay or charge that person. Going out with a group has never been easier as one person can foot the bill and the rest can send money virtually. Cons The app requires you to enter a description, and will not let you simply send funds (which some other apps allow you to do). There is also a social-media aspect to this app, in which users who choose to make their transactions public contribute to a feed where you can see your friends' transactions (including who they paid, how much, and for what). Clients no longer have to have checks, they can transfer money quickly for payment to me. Their is no loss on the person paying me (mail time and stamps) there is no money loss on my end (going to the bank, gas, time, etc) Transfers need to have a "private" setting as "friends" do not need to see what money is being sent between one another. Pros Love the easy transaction history, the ease of use, the fast transfer of money between parties. I own a talent agency in Los Angeles. Many clients have Venmo, and this is an easy way for them to transfer payments to me. This saves time going to the bank, waiting for the mail (always a challenge in Los Angeles), processing the payment. In the end it saves money (time is money afterall) Cons I do not like that "friends" can see what money is transferred between one another. I see this as a "private" matter between people and really cannot see a reason to share with everyone that two (2) people are transferring money between one another. Really with that Paypal (the parent company) and Venmo could transfer money between one another. Pros Venmo has become a staple in modern day money spending. I highly recommend this app as this is constantly used by friends, family, and even small businesses as a form of paying. You simply link up your bank account(s) and that's it. Cons The social feature was a fun feature when it first started but now it feels a bit dated and a bit intruding in today's day and age. Loved their quick deposit or long deposit and their fees arent crazy. Pros Venmo does easily transfer money from one party to another and allows you to add cute messages and GIFS to it that can add to the money sending process. Makes it more personalized. While I didn't care for it I do understand the appeal :) Cons I don't care for the feed section of the application. It rarely has glitches but if you don't set your stuff to private, the whole venmo community can see the transaction, the message, and who you sent it to and when. While it does cover the amount part (unless they're your friends on the app) which I do not like either. Easy to use and functions exactly as expected with no glitches (that I've personally experienced). Like most softwares, they are beginning to come out with Premium features that should really still be included in the free version, which is annoying but is expected for a company at this stage. Pros Super easy to set up and connect your banking account. Most banking apps I've used are outdated, clunky and overly complex to navigate. Venmo provides you with only the basic functionality and not much more, though I personally prefer that, particularly when dealing with funds (less room for error). Cons Finding the correct person to send money to. I wish there was a second layer of validation (i.e. email, first name + last name) or anything else to identify the person aside from their username and tiny picture. Obviously you can look up a person by phone number instead, but I would prefer to see more info about someone that I am sending money to without having the fear of it being a fake account. It would also be nice to be able to set up recurring payments to an individual.
