November 30, 2021 5.0 Venmo is 10/10 and is my personal favorite. You'll be very satisfied knowing your money is traveling safely. Pros Venmo is the best payment processor around. I've had it since it first came out and all of my colleagues/friends have it downloaded. You can send and receive money in less than 1-3 days. I've never used anything else. Most can be setup and executed intuitively without having to read through tedious how-to docs. Cons Reporting features are somewhat lacking. We still utilize an external solution for reporting, which provides much more robust data and insights. Owner Publishing Used the software for: 2+ years ### "Perfect app for sending money to one another" March 22, 2021 5.0 Venmo has been my go to app for the last 8 years as I have sent money to my brother and he has done the same to me when things get tough financially. At first, my brother did not have a bank account set up so this was the only way that we would communicate with each other when it came to financial problems. To this day, it is the only way that we communicate even though we both have bank accounts because it is so simple and easy to use. Pros I love using Venmo because as a startup publisher, I find myself receiving money from my close circle of friends and my brother to help me with my new start up company, AAR Publishing LLC. I love using Venmo because it is very easy and user-friendly and it only charges a small fee which is extremely important for someone like myself that is just starting out in the publishing business Cons I don't have any complains about Venmo because it does what it advertises and that is transferring money from person A to person B without the hassle of a bank account. May 20, 2020 5.0 This is an all-inclusive app for managing payments. It is widely accessible and easy to use. It is highly recommended. Pros There is very little barrier to set up an account and get started. The rest is very self-explanatory as far as finding your contacts and sending/requesting. Great way to co-manage finances that you share with others. Cons The social features are slightly redundant in my opinion (I am not constantly checking on other people's transactions) but it can be super useful when using it during fundraising and for record-keeping. Venmo being used seemingly by everyone in the country is such an amazing feature when we pop-up shops around the nation. Cons There isn'y much to not like about it -- though the constant update(s) to feeds and the UI seem to put us back at square one at least once a year. Cons Sometimes It's hard to find your own friends especially if they have a different user name other than their name which gets annoying. June 25, 2020 5.0 I buy, sell, and resell things on Facebook Marketplace, and other local selling platforms and having Venmo makes the trading and selling that much easier especially when you're selling more expensive items. It's basically like having them send their money through their phone to your bank account. Pros This app is something you can easily install and set up on you're phone. I make paying people back, buying things from other people or having other people pitch into what you're buying so much easier and faster! Even if someone forgets to pay you you can send them a reminder through the app. Plus if you want all the money that has collected in your Venmo, you can select the FREE transfer option and within 2-3 days there it is in your bank account! Cons The one thing that always bugs me is when you type in a description of why you're sending whoever it is money, it will always try and make you select a gif/sticker to replace the word with and unless you tap space again it won't let you submit until you've tapped a sticker. It is reliable and convenient especially when splitting bills or payments. It is great for local transactions but might feel inadequate or inappropriate for formal payments involving large amounts. Pros Venmo charges relatively low amounts per transaction and it is quick and reliable. We usually use it to split relevant costs among colleagues. The social aspect, though might seem irrelevant, makes the platform engaging. You can leave a comment, share emojis, or transaction details. Cons I don't trust the data security and privacy features. I always feel like it could expose sensitive data at some point. Although it allows users to adjust privacy settings, it can expose sensitive payment details to your Venmo friends. I think it is only available here in the United States so you cannot send money abroad. Pros I use Venmo for personal transactions all the time and it's a great free tool to send and receive money from people. What I like most about it is that it is on all the major platforms so it's easy for everyone to participate. Other platforms are OS specific and that can cause problems when not everyone is using the same OS. I also like that it is quick getting my money to my bank account when I need to transfer it. Cons The social aspect is the weirdest part for me and what I dislike the most. I don't look at what people are doing on there and I don't usually want people to look at what I'm doing on their either. Do I need everyone in my feed to know that I went out for tacos today and paid a co-worker? Not really. Do I need to know that my friend's daughter paid him for her cellphone bill? Nope. I had someone pay me with the service, then cancel the transaction. Then Venmo automatically closed my account (as the receiver) since I was involved in a potentially fraudulent transaction. Then they refused to give me any support because I was black listed in their system. I literally did nothing wrong but they just close everyone's account who is involved in a bad transaction regardless of who's at fault. Anyone can make a fake payment. All they have to do is send it with their bank account then tell their bank that it was a fraud transaction to get it cancelled. Venmo says that you should only use it with people you trust, but until its happened to you, you wouldn't suspect it as a receiver. Pros It's fairly easy to send and receive payments. The app design is fairly clean and easy to add bank account info. Cons The person sending the money can cancel the payment after it shows you have the money. So someone can pay you for something and take their money back. I lost $1500 with this service. I would highly recommend it for your spending and payment needs. Pros This is a great way to send and receive payments for your business or personal needs. Once it's setup, it's fairly easy to send or receive payments. I love that they have a QR code option to help people find each other's accounts so easily. It also allows you to link your bank account for easy transfer of funds to your accounts. Cons It does take a little bit of time to set up. You really need to link it to your bank account. Otherwise, you will be charged for every transaction if linked with a card. It takes a few days for your bank account to be activated and linked with your Venmo account. Also, I have had problems with using the money that has been paid to me to pay others. You should be able to keep money in your Venmo account and pay it out to others; however, that money does not always show up as an option to pay others with. Every once in awhile, Venmo also has some glitches. If there are too many people on the app at one time or the internet connection is weak, the app can get slow. Review Source Paka M. April 20, 2021 3.0 I've tried to reach to their customer support via phone with regard to the credit card program and got a lot of |"I'm not sure about that" responses and having to be transferred to another department because they couldn't answer my question. Then I'm told that they do not allow secondary card users or shared accounts with spouses. Pros The ease of receiving and making payments. The app is a little confusing, but once you get the hang of it by doing it a few times the app is pretty easy. Cons There is a learning curve to the app. The credit card was a major disappointment!!! First, they don't allow a secondary user or shared account. Second, they advertise that one can "Earn up to 3% on your top spend category," but I have yet to earn anything but the 1%, but had to pay a 3%+ fee to use the card! Lose money!!! I am in the process of cancelling the credit card. Reason for choosing Venmo I liked the idea of 3% on my top spend category because it was flexible like my spending and it would negate any fees, however, that is not the case and I will be cancelling this credit card. A parent suggested it, so we tried it & it was a lifesaver! No more collecting checks or cash. Forgot cash when u came to the game... no problem. With venmo we would get immediate notification of pymt so customers could pay easier at our concession stand. Free of charge which was a huge help for a non-profit. I still use it to pay the school organizations for stuff. U have a receipt right on your app! Free transfers of payment you received into your bank account Cons My only concern is that unless u realize it, anyone can see anything u are paying for. I saw it after the 1st time I made a pymt & set mine to private. I have found it to be more user friendly than PayPal and other similar products. Pros Venmo is incredibly easy to set up and use. You access it via a mobile app, and within seconds can seamlessly send money to anyone with a Venmo account. I use it both personally and professionally on a weekly basis. Transferring money from the app to your bank account is also simple, and can be done instantly for a small fee, or within 2 business days for free. Cons If you don't update your privacy settings, your Venmo contacts are able to see who you are sending and receiving payments from (the dollar amount of the payment is not shown). Venmo is designed to have a social element to it, which is why this feature exists, but if you want to keep your transactions private, you have to turn this setting off. Review Source RB Rachel B. Pros In today's day and age, where few tend to carry cash in their wallet, Venmo is a saving grace. Venmo allows friends and family to instantly pay each other and request money from each other. It removes the awkwardness of IOUs and having to remind someone of the dinner cost split from a few nights/weeks ago. Venmo is also great for roommates situations where the monthly utility bills are divided upon the households. Cons One of the cons of using Venmo is the time lag of cash transfer between Venmo and your bank. It typically takes about 3 days for the cash transfer and settlement to occur. If Venmo can speed this process up without having to pay the % service fee charge, it would be on par with industry standards of Zelle that are used among of the major banks. Processing time is usually quite short so I almost never had any concerns about it. I personally believe that it's easy to use and understand and I've had success in persuading friends of mine who either never used a peer-to-peer payment app before or were sticking to other apps like Zelle to install and use Venmo - they all love it now! Cons Although I never had a personal experience, it's crazy that there is no given contact number. It gives me the​ impression that they don't care about their users and their experiences as much as they should. I think it can be a huge problem as you can be a victim of a scam where you sell and ship some stuff and the buyer cancels the payment right after. Yet you can't really get much support from Venmo regarding this.
