I would recommend this app to anyone who wants an easy way to find users and pay them. It is also easy to find that same user in the future for even faster payments. Pros Venmo is very user friendly. It is easy to find a user one wishes to pay money to and send them an amount directly to their checking account. Cons Although fast, venmo charges for users to instantaneously receive money into their account. It would be great if the app allowed users to receive their money instantly free of charge. Processing time is usually quite short so I almost never had any concerns about it. I personally believe that it's easy to use and understand and I've had success in persuading friends of mine who either never used a peer-to-peer payment app before or were sticking to other apps like Zelle to install and use Venmo - they all love it now! Cons Although I never had a personal experience, it's crazy that there is no given contact number. It gives me the​ impression that they don't care about their users and their experiences as much as they should. I think it can be a huge problem as you can be a victim of a scam where you sell and ship some stuff and the buyer cancels the payment right after. Yet you can't really get much support from Venmo regarding this. In my office, we're always group-ordering meals and since everyone got Venmo, life has been so much easier. Not to mention whenever I happen to be somewhere without cash, I don't have to panic. If you're on the fence about this app, STOP HESITATING. Venmo is convenient, easy to use and FREE. You really can't beat that. Pros There is a reason Venmo is already used by so many people! Once Venmo is set up it is indispensable for anyone with a smartphone. I love that I have the option to use my Venmo balance or pay directly from my card or account. Instant transfers are so handy, especially because I am so bad about keeping cash on me. Venmo allows me to be responsible with my money without missing out on any fun. Cons There is a fee required to instantly transfer your Venmo funds into your bank account, but considering the app is free and you can always choose the standard transfer (which is free) I can't complain too much. Software Developer Financial Services Used the software for: 2+ years ### "Wonderful peer to peer payment app" December 19, 2021 5.0 Venmo makes it very easy for the average person to handle bill splitting, gift giving or any other online money transfer/payment. I've found that most people I interact with have an account so its generally widely available and accessible. Transactions are easy to initiate and withdrawals usually take about a day so they are very quick. Overall a much better online payment solution over Paypal or Cash app. Pros Venmo is the easiest of the mobile payment systems I've used. The UI is very simple and straightforward and the withdrawal process is easy and quick. The social aspect can be fun to use as well, though not as important. Cons I honestly don't have much to complain about. The social aspect can be nice but can also be a burden if you are wanting to keep your transactions private. It's easy to change but it just adds an unnecessary step to the process. Ultimately it's just kind of a useless feature. Review Source MR Mike R. People may be more likely to purchase if using venmo, but it is a very select audience. Some customers may be turned-off by sellers using Venmo as the name has earned a reputation of "Craigslist Sellers" and sending friend-to-friend, not so much business-to-customer. Pros Ease of use and large existing customer base make it easy to implement and accept payments from many users. Cons Venmo does not represent itself as the most business/professional payment processor, so it's not the right option for all users. I am grateful that it shows all of the users that have even a portion of the id you are entering to ensure you have the right person and if you ever do mistakenly send money to the wrong person, customer service is quick and efficient to help you solve the problem! Its my main app for any money management at this point. Cons There are times you go through the steps to send money, get to the end and hit submit and it'll show the funds went through but they never did. They don't take the money from your account when that happens so its always an easy fix but thats my only issue I've had. I have tried most other fund delivery services and many have specific purposes but nothing compares to the daily basic ease of use and immediate service of Venmo. When working with patients who are trying to learn how to move money to family members but have no computer skills, once Venmo is set up, almost anyone is capable of using it immediately without a lot of assistance. It's great for home health when a family member wants to order items to ship to a patient's home and then the elder wants to reimburse them. Many times ordering is too daunting but Venmo is immediate and simple to use. It's the perfect blend of functionality and ease of use. Pros Can offer specifics or be as generic as needed, all while using a social media type interface. Venmo makes exchanging or paying fun and easy, as well as captures a feel that is less bank like than other products. Cons It is more designed for social or everyday type fund delivery and not bill paying or other true bank needs. While it is clearly not designed for that purpose, a way to do automatic recurring payments to landlords, local businesses, etc. would be helpful. Review Source Ava C. Other than Venmo, I refuse to use any other money-transfer website. It is simple to use, quick, and completely secure. Pros I like how fast this application sends and receives money, and I like how private and secure it is. I've never had a problem with any discrepancies. I've never had a payment fail.Everything I do becomes faster and more interesting because I can pay for anything with a single click of a button! The fact that you can manage a personal and business account with one login is a plus. Venmo also will help your business with finances and your business has the opportunity to appear on a lot of popular sites. Cons This is where i would second guess Venmo to users is because they have a high rate of account closures due to their security system. But No Reporting Like Other Services" September 29, 2020 5.0 Easy and seamless to use. Universal, so almost everyone I know has it, even at craft fairs, etc. Pros I love that this is universal, I don't need a "card swipe/dip" accessory, and the fees are lower than that of other card swipe companies. I also love that I can print out a venmo QR code and have it ready for clients with the app. Cons I use Square as well (this is my main source) and I love the end-of-year reports I can pull for my accountant. Venmo has nothing like this that I can find. I also HATE the "feed" of items your friends are using it for. I don't care that someone bought a hair style, nails, icecream, or a country with Venmo. I don't care to see what it's being used for. At least I can make my stuff private. I also very much dislike that I can only have ONE payment method. This is frustrating when I have expenses I want to use out of my massage account, but have Venmo set up for my personal use. It would be nice if it had different "profiles" and I could send money out of a different account. Reason for choosing Venmo It simply came down to popularity. With other options existing like Cash Apple and Apple Wallet allowing currency sending, it can be considered as viable as the others and the one platform with the most users in your immediate ecosystem/network is the one to go with. Pros Ease of Use for most situations when it comes to making quick payments and requests to individuals. Cons The inefficiency that exists for handling uneven purchase splitting across groups that become more sizable than just a few people. The inability to shortcut/favorite similar requests/transactions (f.e. very commonly making split purchases with the same 5 people). It saves time and works well with your personal bank account. Pros At first I had problems downloading it but it was very user friendly. Used it a lot during quarantine when I had to transfer money to my cousin. You just have to be careful that you are sending money to the right person because there is no reverse or cancel button. Though there are better designs out there (Square Cash, for example), Venmo will continue to reign as long as it has the largest market share. Pros Venmo is Kind of mobile payments because everyone I know has it. I'd say that's 98% of the reason it's the best. The other 2% of things it does well are the following: - Option for quick transfer works really well - Can be integrated with other businesses (Uber, for example!) - Venmo card is an easy way to spend your balance - Free - Secure Cons The rest of venmo is not as great. It isn't painful or bad, just bloated. - The social feed is weird. Why do I need to share with the world that I am paying my friend for french fries? - The app is surprisingly sluggish. Venmo definitely makes life easier. Pros The easiness of sending money with just the venmo user name. Cons Sometimes it is hard to find out more about the person, in order to verify it is the correct user. Even though this is to ensure the money goes to the right person, sometimes this information is hard to get. This is particularly helpful now when cash is not commonly used because of COVID Pros Venmo is so common now that it is a great way to quickly transfer money between people. I know that some folks are concerned about linking their bank accounts for security, but I have not had any issues with it.
