They are the OG of payments and still do a good job. Pros It is very easy to use. Easy to find a person, and easy to send a payment from an account of choice. Reasonable fees for select products, and free transfers available, which is very useful as well. Cons Being able to see a bunch of friend's transactions is a bit strange and I do not feel comfortable making my financial transactions public. Also, if you ever send money to the wrong person, it is slightly a nightmare to get it back. Sort of understandably. Borderline. I love it. Pros I love how easy this app makes requesting or sending money to friends, splitting up checks, etc. The UI is great, it's easy to set up, and free to use basic features. Cons I don't really have any complaints. Using venmo has made it so much easier to get paid instantly. For example, if you are at lunch with coworkers, rather than asking for 50 separate checks, one credit card can handle the payment and everyone else can instantly send their portion over Venmo. Pros Venmo's ease of use and functionality makes it a great software. It is such an easy way to request or make payments. The payments can be public or private, and you can include a short caption regarding what the payment is for. Because of its user friendly nature, this product is one that any generation can enjoy using. Younger users will love being able to caption their payments using emojis or funny statements, while older users can enjoy the simplicity of design. Any user will appreciate that the app is a secure way to pay or receive payment. Cons Personally I really enjoy using this software and have no complaints. I had my account disabled multiple times for no reason and could never get an explanation or contact with any customer service. I have lost hundreds of dollars because of Venmo and they never make it right. The ability to seamlessly send monies and withdraw them into a checking account at no cost to the user is incredible. We've come a long way from having to withdraw cash or send checks. Pros I love that most everyone is on Venmo nowadays. Admittedly, I did not think that Venmo would take off, but the software is so ubiquitous and easy to use. The ability to quickly and seamlessly send and receive funds, and be alerted of this, is wonderful. There's little to no learning curve in terms of using it, too. Cons While Venmo works very easily, there are times when I find it difficult to find people within the app. For instance, hundreds of Jane Smiths on the app, but I only know one Jane Smith--and she is a Facebook friend with multiple mutual friends/connections--I wish the app would show that person at the top of the list a la Instagram. I don't remember what I did without it, but I can say for sure it's helped make sure every member of a group pays their due share of a combined bill. Pros Venmo allows friends, colleagues, and businesses to easily and instantly transfer funds to each other with the push of a button. Before Venmo, splitting any kind of expenses or charging others for services with a nightmare, but with the app you can do it in seconds with the tap of a button. Cons The only thing that'd make the service better is if they allowed some sort of group split mode. Frankly, I wonder how we lived in this world before this software's existence. Pros Venmo is a phenomenal software that allows customers to send payments free of charge between one another. This is an excellent solution to an incredibly common problem: how does one pay their colleagues? Prior to Venmo, people would simply repay an estimated amount -- or, more often, would not pay anything back at all. Venmo makes it easy to split the bill, repay for work purchases, or any other need in which money is exchanging hands. Cons While the mobile app is wonderful, the website leaves a bit to be desired as payments can only be made through the mobile app. Additionally, Venmo's persistence on QR code usage is silly as the world is clearly moving away from the scan and click model. Inexpensive to utilize for regular transactions. Cons I do not enjoy being able to see the transactions between all of my contacts. I don’t have any confidential transactions, however others may. And though some people try to discuss them or be funny on there, I don’t necessarily need to be aware of all the transactions of my contacts. Cons I have heard that people can reverse transactions, which makes it risky when I use it to sell old goods, etc. online. I wish it either safeguarded people better OR was more transparent about the risks/protections when receiving money on Venmo. It's just an uncertainty that lurks in the back of my mind. It is easy to search for people. It is easy to send and request money. I have used this personally and for business. It is so easy and quick to transfer money to your bank. Cons The website is not as functional as the app. In fact, the platform is purposely moving functions away from the website and will only be able to use the app. I just like the convenience of a website sometimes, but I don't think this is the end of the world. April 27, 2019 4.0 Mostly good, but it doesn't take gift cards, and many credit and debit cards. Square Cash in my opinion is much better, and provides faster transfer to bank accounts. Pros Venmo allows me to take payments seamlessly from my students in a tutoring business I have, and let's me make payments with a credit card when I need it. Cons You can add only 4 cards in a 6 month period. So very bad if you want to put expenses on different cards. Good for taking payments, bad for making payments to others. Cons Occasionally I worry about the security of the software but have never personally had an issue. I triple checked that all of my settings were set to private but on occasion they change the settings and you have to go in and update. For my company, it is very easy to keep track of financial records and make sure all users can accurately and easily review transfer records. Pros Venmo is the easist and most secure way to transfer funds that I have encountered in my time at my company. As someone who travels frequently for work and puts expenses on their own card, I appreciate the ease and efficiency that Venmo provides when my company transfers funds back to me that I put up front. Similarly, I can manage these funds from my Venmo account at no cost to me, which is an enormous benefit. Cons I can't think of a negative thing to point out regarding Venmo.
