July 16, 2019 5.0 Overall my experience has been nothing but excellent. It works very well and is a nicely made app. Pros Venmo is a great way to efficiently and quickly send money friends or family. Say you go out with a bunch of friends and one friends pay. There is a option to split the bill if they had used the venmo debit card. You can send money within seconds, and the person you send to can use the money instantly. Personally I have never experienced a delay. Cons The thing I liked the least is that it sometimes takes a few days to show up on bank statement. This is not unique to this program but is typical of all bank transactions. Also love that you can send a request or reminder for money! Pros Do you know how often our society isn’t sending money to someone else? (Personally, not business)?! Where has this app been for all the split checks and the “i got you- pay me back later” or “let’s take a weekend trip, I’ll book the hotel, just send me money!” Money exchange is easier than its ever been, finding people is as easy as a scan and now it’s not nearly as annoying to be the one to pay for the whole group! Pros High subscriber rate and ease of use makes it my preferred app for sending and receiving funds. All of my friends and co-workers use it as well which makes it very practical. Cons I really have no complaints. The app does freeze every now and then but I can live with it given the other positive aspects. Venmo is easy to use, and there are no fees which make it really easy. I think the user interface is easy for anyone. I got my mom to start using it so I can pay her for things and she isn't too tech savvy and hasn't had any issues using the platform. Pros I love that Venmo is so easy and there are no fees to send my friends and family money. I also love that more companies have begun accepting Venmo so I don't need to bother typing in all my credit card information when checking out online. Cons I do worry about the security of the platform overall because that is a concern with any payment platform and software. I turned on all the privacy settings because I do not like all of my transactions being out there in the open. I also do not like the new gifs that they added to the platform. Cons It’s hard to find people at times. And I just hope fees don’t start to surmount like it did with PayPal. I appreciate that there is a transaction history that I can easily reference to determine who still owes me money &/or if something has already been paid for. Pros Venmo allows for ease & efficiency when money needs to be transferred from one person to another. While I do not use this product for my business transactions, it is a wonderful safety net (ie. option to rely on if all else fails). I use Venmo often to transfer funds to friends with whom I am sharing a bill, to family as gift &/or as payment for services like a haircut :) Never have I had a problem with this money being transferred both in & out of my Venmo account AND to & from my personal banking. Cons I do not like that the default mode is set to Public, which results in a constant feed broadcasted to a large community of persons known & unknown to me re: who, what & why I'm exchanging money with. I strongly encourage everyone to change their privacy settings to Private, so that this information remains as such. I love using Venmo when i have to get/transfer money to/from my friends. It has helped me a lot of times in time sensitive matters. Pros It is a great software if you wanna transfer money between friends quickly and easily. Creating profile is so easy. Transferring money is also quick. You can do instant transfer wherein money is transferred to your account immediately with a small deduction or do standard transfer wherein money is transferred in 2-3 business days. You can also save money in your account and get a Venmo card just like any other debit card. For a small business built around hand-made products that can expensive, having Venmo handle the transactions has been a game changer. Pros I like alot of things about Venmo but far and beyond is the ease of use. There is almost no learning curve to use the tool and we are able to get our customers comfortable using the platform without issue. Cons At times I have been challenged with finding the correct accounts for the person I am dealing with. I do feel that Venmo has come along way in streamlining this process. Pros I like how easy it is to send money to friends and clients. Virtually everyone I know uses Venmo (and if not, it's easy to sign up), so this is my go-to app for paying people. Venmo now also offers purchase protection for a small additional fee if you have any concerns about an item you're buying or whom you're paying. All of your transactions are saved for record-keeping purposes. Cons I wish the default setting for transactions were "private." It is super easy for my customers to use and they appreciate that I have Venmo as an option. There are a few improvements I would like to see, but overall it is the best app like it. Pros I like that so many people use it. It is convenient to have a business Venmo profile because so many customers choose to use it. Venmo is great for quick, small purchases and it is extremely mobile friendly which is awesome. Cons Sometimes the QR code does not work for my customers. I use the QR kit given to me from Venmo, but my customers often have trouble getting to my business page via the QR code. I also wish there was an analytics feature that showed sales for the quarter/week/day. The business fee (1.9%+$0.10) is also frustrating, but it is hard to get around. Using venmo to send money to my husband or my other family members is very easy and that is essential. I enjoy how fast the money is sent and how I can instantly deposit it into my bank account. Cons I do wish that venmo had asked me before adding my friends from my contacts list in my phone. There are people in my contacts list who do not need to see my financial activities. Pros Incredibly easy to use, low fees, the ability to instantly transfer the client payment if necessary for a small fee but no fees if you wait a few days. We can take a payment from anywhere with WiFi or a cellular connection and not be tethered to the office credit card machine. Cons I think the 'search' feature could be expanded upon. Pros It's easy to use and I like the social aspect of it - profile photo, adding friends and posting messages like on socal media. I like how there are no fees to pay and receive money. I also like how I am not charged a fee to transfer money to my checking account. The extra step to verify the payee's last four digit of the phone numbers is a good idea when paying someone for the first time who is a stranger. I like how it's easy to find a payee through their ID or QR code. Nobody has ever tried to scam me using Venmo. Cons I don't feel this app has any cons. It's really easy to use. Nobody ever tries to scare me with Venmo. I like the social media aspect of the app, because it shows people making successful payments which is a way to show people that they pay their dues. Pros It is very easy to setup and implement and allows you to send money quickly and securely when the recipients are on the platform. You can easily split payments amongst many different people which is nice for paying dinner bills, etc. If an online store accepts PayPal you can now use Venmo to pay instead. There are several ways to find the person within the system that you want to send money too. If you are requesting payment, you can send the person who needs to pay you your username or a QR code to ensure they pay the correct user. Additionally, when you send someone money, you can put in what the payment is for so you can keep track and keep everyone on the same page. Cons By default, when you send money to someone it is public, so be aware of that. There is a "feed" of transactions that the public can see if you don't deactivate the setting. Would strongly recommend users review that setting prior to using. The platform is only helpful if the person you want to pay or seek payment from is on the app, though that is certainly not unique to Venmo. Review Source KS Kevin S. It has saved me the hassle of going to the bank to withdraw cash numerous times, and is so easy to use that it isn't a problem if the second party doesn't have Venmo; it is fast and easy to sign up for a new account, and then to add a debit card for instant payment. Cons The only thing I don't like about the App is having to input a "reason" for sending money when paying someone else. Sometimes there may not be an actual reason if you are loaning or gifting the money, so in these cases I have to make something up. May 27, 2021 5.0 All in all, Venmo makes living the daily life of a "typical" person easier. I can walk around with just my phone knowing that if necessary I can pay for items with a few clicks of a button. It has been a Godsend with managing my two college kids and rent/utilities, etc. One person can pay and the other roommates can reimburse that person instantly. It takes all the guesswork out of and memory needed to ensure prompt and efficient bookkeeping. Pros It enables users to pay for, request, reimburse money on the spot. It eliminates the need to carry cash and enables users to pay for things that, before the inception of digital wallets, were sometimes not possible if the user didn't have a specific amount of cash on them. (think Girl Scout Cookies, lunch with friends, etc.) I also love that you can get a debit card that is tied to your Venmo account. Cons There are very few elements I don't like about the aforementioned debit card. One of those being it does not allow you to instantly pull money from your bank account to put into your Venmo account. You can move money around, however, it takes several days, so it can sometimes make accounting a bit harder. Setting up your banking info is super simple and just takes a few minutes. Once that's done you just need to transfer funds! Cons I don't love that your contacts can see who you're sending money to, but if you remember you can make it private.
