It made it easy for me to ask someone to pick up something and I could reimburse immediately. Conversely, I have requested payments from friends for things via Venmo, so I got paid rapidly and never had to go to a bank to deposit a check. Pros It is fast, easy and the preferred method of payment among my kids and grandchildren. Even for me in my late 60s, I quickly became an avid Venmo user. Cons It took me a couple of tries to figure out how to request money, but after that it was a breeze. January 6, 2022 5.0 A couple of benefits to the platform is the scanning and requesting ability. You can scan from one account to another. Also, you can request a specific amount from someone who may owe you money. I have seen people use this to pay for athletic purposes, private lessons, school, etc. Venmo even offers debit and credit cards. I absolutely love Venmo and recommend it to everyone who doesn't already have it!!!! Pros Venmo is easy AND fun to use. I love being able to pay people through this platform. I have the ability to make the payment private or public for everyone/friends to see. You can add emojis to make it more fun and interesting. It is so convenient, especially for someone who doesn't carry cash on them at all times. You have no excuse to pay someone back. There are so many other features, but the main feature I use this platform for is payments. Cons Venmo could be tricky for people who do not use it every day or take the time to learn how to use it. I love the features and what it allows us to do on a day-to-day basis. I'm glad to be able to say yes! It helps with group gifts, group trips, big dinners, big group movie trips, and so on. We've used it for basically anything that costs money that you're not doing alone! I plan to keep using it for the foreseeable future! Pros Venmo does exactly what you need it to. It's an easy way to send and receive money. I like that you don't have to use it as a mobile app. Being someone who is paranoid about cyber security, I prefer to use it on my laptop where I can log in and log out whenever I need to. I don't like the idea of it being an app that I stay logged into all the time and the desktop site allows that possibility. Beyond that, it's just a very simple way to make transactions. Cons It can sometimes be difficult to tell if you have found the right user if you didn't have their exact username handy, but this was never something that got in the way for very long or that couldn't be solved with a text message. If you don't already have it, it will revolutionize the way you handle casual payments. Pros While I generally use PayPal for work/contract payments, I find myself using Venmo for all personal payments. The app is fantastic in the way its set up to handle casual payments with features like friend's lists and QR codes to scan and bring up someone's account. It's safe, reliable, and I find myself using it every time I'm out with friends. Cons The activity page is kind of intrusive in the way you can see your friend's payments. July 17, 2019 5.0 I have been using Venmo regularly since it first came out. It is especially useful for anyone who lives with roommates and is often splitting costs for things. Who has cash on them these days anyways? Pros Venmo makes it SO easy to send and receive money from friends, roommates, employers, etc. It is accessible right from your smart phone, the money goes to your bank accounts in just 1-2 days, and it is FREE to use. Not to mention it is secure. Cons I don't like how you can send/receive money just by typing in someone's username, because if you accidentally send it to the wrong person, there is no way to cancel that transaction. Pros Lately I've been selling and buying staff through Facebook market, like an old table, laptop, doors, etc...random staff I have at home that I don't use, and things I need, and Venmo is the best way to go because they don't charge you any fees when you pay with your debit card. Also I like I don't have to deal with the people paying with fake money, as someone tried once. The only downside is that it takes a little long when transferring the money to your personal account, other than that perfect to me. It is pretty simple to use and we have no security issues Cons Customer service is horrible. Trying to get a debit card is next to impossible without having to risk identity theft. It makes picking things up quick and easy and not having to worry about having the correct currency to make the exchange. Pros Venmo has been the easiest form to make mobile payments I have came across. It has been evolutionary since it came out, especially making a quick payment from person to person without cash has been the biggest upside. Its also cool to see the newsfeed of other people using the platform as well. Cons I have heard it can be not so secure and breaches have been made from scammers. There really isnt a payment protection in place when or if something goes wrong. I also noticed restrictions on international payments inside the application. Review Source Linda B. I'd highly recommend it to anyone who shares money with friends or family, anyone who would want to use it as their payment methodic you provide a service and charge clients for it, and anyone who needs an app to quickly pay or charge a friend or family member when going out to eat, for example. Pros Venmo is easy to use, quick, and I feel it's secure. My colleagues and I used it when forming our business in order to quickly move money between us when needing to purchase office supplies. It was easy to track how much money we were spending and transferring to each other by looking at our transaction history. Cons What I like least is that it has access to the contacts in my phone and although it doesn't notify all of my contacts that I'm on Venmo, I'd rather have the ability to individually look them up on the app if needed. I also didn't realize my profile on Venmo was public by default and then I had to go and switch it to private; I'd rather have it be on private by default so people can then have more agency over who sees their info/transaction history. March 4, 2021 5.0 Overall Venmo was one of the earlier adopters of allowing individuals to receive/send funds to individuals and even though its not perfect its not a bad service to use. Pros Well the obvious perks of this software are the fact that one can transfer and receive funds when necessary. Cons For whatever reason locating an individual to send/request funds can take some time in some instances, not sure why you cant just type in someones name and have it pop up. Also I'm not sure why you can't get instant funds without any fees like Zelle does. I use Venmo mostly for my website design services for gamers and its the most used payment option out of the many i offer and its amazing, Pros I love the fact you can get paid and you send Money Fast And Securely for friends, family and clients. Cons There is not much to dislike. The signup process is simple and the ability to send and receive money is even easier. I think the only problem people face even me when i started years ago was adding payment methods to your account. It is extremely efficient and makes transferring money so easy, especially to those who do not have a PayPal account. You can complete business transactions as well as transfer money between yourself and friends, family or coworkers. Director of Content Development Marketing and Advertising Used the software for: 1-2 years ### "Venmo customer service went above and beyond" November 30, 2021 5.0 Although I've only been using Venmo for about a year, the aforementioned customer service story involving my friend means I'll use Venmo with confidence for as long as they exist. Pros This story doesn't involve my personal Venmo account, but it's worth relating because it shows that some companies go beyond their specified customer service limitations. I was with a friend and a person on the street asked to use her phone to text their friend for a ride, saying they were stranded. She obliged. The next day, she realized that that person had actually gone into her Venmo app and sent themselves over $1,000. This was especially troublesome because the realization was made on the Saturday of a 3-day weekend. She reviewed Venmo's customer service options and found that there would be no way to cancel the payment. Long story short: She contacted Venmo's customer service anyhow, and by the next business day, Venmo contacted her to review the situation and were able to actually cancel the payment and return the funds to her account. She didn't even have to get her bank involved. In an age where so many companies barely meet their own customer service specs, Venmo went above and beyond to save the day. Cons Not much. I find it curious that I can see payments made by third parties to people I'm sending money to by viewing their profile, but I imagine that individual users can adjust their own privacy settings to hide these. July 29, 2019 5.0 Pros This is the best app for going out with friends or picking up everyone's coffee at the office. You pay on your card and instantly people can pay you back. Cons The only bummer part is that there is a fee (very small fee) to transfer the money instantly into your bank account.
