It helps with pitching in for office gifts for coworkers, as I don’t usually have cash on hand. The customer service is great, and it is a secure service. Pros I appreciate the ease of use especially if you are new to the service. I appreciate that you are able to get a Venmo card because you can spend your money without having to wait to transfer it to your bank account. Customer service is very prompt and helpful. Cons A negative to the Venmo service is if you have money on tour venmo account, you are not able to transfer it to you bank account immediately without paying a processing fee, if you choose the free option, the transfer take about 3 days. I expect it to keep expanding because of its ease of use. Pros Venmo is easy to use, and there's a reason more than just millennial are using the service. As a user, Venmo is the easiest payment app to use and one that can have no cost to the user. I like being able to link my bank accounts and credit cards, and I feel confident in Venmo's security when doing so. Venmo is a tool I've used happily for both business and personal use. Cons There is a 3% free for credit card use, so it's just something for the user to keep in mind. Otherwise, I've only had positive experiences with Venmo. Pros Venmo is very easy to setup and use and it's widely adopted. Great for paying friends and colleagues back for small things. And great for splitting checks with groups. Also, they continue adding new features and partnerships (for instance you can now link it to your uber/rideshare accounts and pay through venmo). Cons No necessarily a con - but it's not really meant for use with people you don't know (i.e. buying or selling something from Facebook marketplace/Craigslist). It's meant for friends/family. Unless you want the money in your bank instantly but it is like a %10 fee. Otherwise it takes about 1-3 days Pros It's fun to use. It is almost like a social media account where you add friends and transfer money between them. Very easy to use and set up. Money also transfers really fast. You get an email notification too for added layer of security. Cons At first it makes your transactions public so everyone can see. But you can change that in settings so it is private. Also there is a limit of how much you can transfer in a day just for security reasons which makes sense. Pros It is so easy to use, almost everyone has it, and I no longer need to uncomfortably follow up with people to be paid. Rather, I can just send a Venmo request for funds and a follow up request if needed. Cons I can only send one follow up request for money, it would be nice to have the option to send it more times. August 12, 2020 5.0 Pros I've worked in the financial world and Venmo is one of those tools we'd all asked for. It's easy to use, quick, helpful, generally reliable, and universal. Cons Security -- I've heard of people getting hacked -- and the lack of guarantee for the money. I wish they'd guarantee that if your money gets stolen, they'd replace it. Everything from splitting lunch to paying the housekeeper! Pros Venmo is a widespread platform for money transfers that has been a flawless experience for me. Linking my account to my bank account was easy and I have had no issues with account security. Cons The only downside to my use of Venmo so far has been trying to have two accounts on the same card and bank account information as my wife. We have had to put her Venmo account on the card and the other on the checking account to get around this. I’ve actually made people download this app so I can more easily pay them for things. Pros Venmo solves a long-held problem for personal finance. No longer do you have to have cash on you or split the bill 12 ways when you go to a group dinner. You can just Venmo! I never carry cash and rarely write checks now because I just Venmo for everything. Cons I know that some users of this software don’t like the social aspect - that you have to label your payments and other users can see them. I rarely have issues and it has simplified splitting costs with those I interact with. Pros Venmo is easy to use. Simply request or sent money and you get to add a caption. I like that transactions can be public or private and I get to see the funny things my friends do. I also like that you can remind people to pay you. This has made splitting things between friends and family so much easier, or splitting with people you don't know very well and holds them accountable. Cons I don't really have any cons. Pros What I like most about Venmo is that you can send money to friends and family with just a few taps in the mobile app. Cons I dislike the fees to withdraw money instantly to your bank (instead of waiting up to several days for a regular transfer). The ease of use for both us and our customers is a huge plus. Being able to add notes and track transactions makes accounting easy. Probably the most beneficial for us is being able to transfer our money directly into the account same day for a small fee, whereas with our other payment options, the money doesn't hit our account for 3-5 business days. We love using Venmo for both our business and our personal transactions. Cons 5% is pretty steep when it comes to immediate transfers, but it's worth it if we need the money right then and there. It is also very intuitive to use but the social media aspect of the service ruins it for me. I don't care who is sending money to whom or why. Pros The peer-to-peer payment system works very well. The process of adding money to your account and being able to send and receive money is very straight-forward and intuitive. Cons The social media aspect of the software ruins the service for me. As far as I can tell, there is no way to turn off the message board of seeing who paid who and why. You can only make all of your payment posts private. Venmo is super easy to use and all of my friends have it. Cons really there is nothing I would change about Venmo. It’s an easy to use, free download. I like that all of my friends use it and it’s easy to find other users. There’s even a verification process if you’ve never sent someone money before. It’s like they thought of everything. Also great for buying products online, you can use your venmo card without compromising your regular debit/credit card number. Pros Super easy to use. Connects easily to most debit cards and bank accounts. Costs nothing to send and receive money and transfers happen in seconds. If you have the Venmo card, you can spend directly out of your Venmo account, if you don't it costs a very small amount to transfer to your card. Cons If you lose your Venmo card, you can't just cancel and order a new one through the App, you have to call customer service and the wait time is usually long. Also, unless you go into your settings and change them to private, all transfers to and from your Venmo connections are public and can be seen by anyone. Review Source MH Megan H. May 21, 2021 5.0 Overall it's a very simple, secure P2P system that has worked for me, for years. If they never updated the software again, I think it would still be one of the easiest payment apps around. In today's world, it's a must have for anyone with a smartphone! Pros Incredibly simple to use and easy to set up. I've used Venmo for well over 5 years and still remember how easy the process was to set up right away. Link an account, check the deposits amounts and you're set. Searching for people is easy and finding out payment history is intuitive. I haven't used their other products, but I know that they offer a lot more now with a debit and credit card linking back to your personal account, which I may try in the future. Cons The biggest con for me is that they no longer support a browser based site and it's all done through the mobile app. A majority of the time I'm near my phone anyway, but I've always enjoying having full access from the browser. I use this app weekly and will continue to use this software above any of the others. I am so glad I found out about Venmo. It has been so great for work and personal! Pros I was introduced to Venmo at my workplace when we were all preparing to buy a large item and everyone needed to give a certain amount of money. I was so worried because I had forgot to bring cash to work and my co-worker informed me that I can send it, FOR FREE, to them through an app called Venmo. It only took a matter of minutes to set up and link my bank account and I was able to send the cash right away. Since that day, I have used the app weekly...even if it is just to send someone money for picking up lunch or for splitting the cost of a hotel room for a conference trip. Venmo is AWESOME! Cons I have not found anything negative about this software. The only recommendation that I have is to allow an individual to Venmo between their own accounts. I currently have two bank accounts linked to Venmo. Sometimes I need money from one account to another quickly and it would be great to have that option. Otherwise, I have nothing negative to report about Venmo. The fact that they have allowed you to have multiple profiles on one device on your mobile app has been super helpful too! Cons I didn’t like that I was only able to have one profile per device on my mobile device, but they have recently updated their software to include multiple profile options. Clutch! Originally I was hesitant to put any bank information in but it has create an ease of life. I can pay vendors or be paid back by friends in a matter of seconds. It does take a day or two to transfer into the bank account but it's a short wait. Pros This is a great way for my fiance and I to split some of our bills. Venmo makes it so easy, just a couple clicks and you can send money. I have also been using it to make payments on a wedding photographer. It's great because I can every interaction between us so I know I'm getting credit for payments (like a digital on demand receipt). And they don't take any of the money for themselves! If you request $5, you get $5 and the person paid $5 theres NO additional hidden fee! Cons It would be nice to schedule payments monthly, for many bills or roommate situations. First time using can be a little confusing. I have used it for years and helped me transition to cash. I love how easy it is to find friends profiles as well. Cons I don't like the price fluctuation for bank transfers. It used to be quick to transfer without paying but sadly now the free has slowed down quite a bit just to sell the faster option.
