I love the added feature options of making my account private as well as requesting a verification code for payments to ensure that funds are going to the correct Venmo user. Pros I love Venmo because it allows me to safely and easily transfer payments when cash or debit/credit options aren't available. I also love that Venmo allows me to choose whether or not my payment activity is made public or not. Cons I can't say that I have found any huge negatives about Venmo. The turnaround time for funds to be transferred into my account can at times be a little inconsistent, which I realize could very well be a function of my financial institution receiving the funds and not a Venmo issue. They have stayed innovative and found ways to make a Venmo card to help users take advantage of their Venmo balance without having to worry about transferring it to their bank and risking sharing their bank information everywhere. Pros What I love about Venmo is that it creates an easy to use app that allows users to seamlessly transfer money to each other. I have seen it be used for parents to give allowance, to helping pay for a friends meal when they forgot their wallet. What also is great about Venmo is the fact that it is owned by PayPal which helps ease the concern of security issues over online payments. Venmo also created a Venmo Card (which I currently own/love) that allows you to use as a debit card to pay for meals using your Venmo balance or even pull from your bank account in $10 intervals. Cons What I like least about Venmo is that there is a small transaction fee that comes with it so it is not exactly free to use. Review Source JM Jenn M. I do however wish they would make some security updates to their software. Pros I like Venmo because it is incredibly user-friendly, unlike a few of its similar counterparts. Sending and requesting money is super easy, and I love that there's a reminder button in case someone forgets to complete your payment request. Cons There are a few issues I have with Venmo. One - if you make a mistake and send someone money instead of requesting it, or accidentally add a zero and send them way more than you intended - there's no way to cancel your payment. You have to have that person send it back to you. I've also encountered a few instances of people changing their profiles to match others' and impersonating them and requesting money from friends. Once they get that, they immediately change profiles again. I think there needs to be a limit on how many times you can change a profile in order to curb the number of scammers on the app. Review Source Erica W. On top of the great concept it excels with its simple and smart UI. Pros Venmo is a very user friendly payment application, that generally has no fees associated with it. Venmo allows for quick payment and then on top of that quick bank transfers. The final added benefit is that it is a part social media payments platform that allows users to connect and share. Cons The worst part about Venmo is that it is simply not made for the business but more for the individual. It can still be a great benefit for a business but it will need to be used thoughtfully. I love the ability to split payments if needed as well. Pros Venmo makes it really easy to collect money from friends, clients, and family. You can easily request and send in a matter of secs. The transaction has no fees if you hook it up to your bank account and don't mind waiting a couple of days for the money to transfer. Cons I do not like the social features, such as the ability to see everyone's strange way they categorize transactions via emojis. I can pull out my phone and we can make a transaction as if cash was there on site but this is much cleaner and avoids having to carry a wallet around! Pros Everyone has a phone with them and using Venmo allows you to pay someone and get instant feedback that they received the money just as if you gave them cash! Don't have to worry about bringing cash to places or getting separate checks. Free to use. Pros Easy to use. Can send money from bank accounts to other Venmo users and request payments. Also integrates with other apps like Uber and Splitwise which is convenient for paying. Also nice touch ID/passcode feature so others can't go into the app that don't have permission. Cons Slow times for transferring money from your Venmo balance to your bank account. Also it doesn't automatically transfer the money that you receive from other users - you have to do it manually. They continue to upgrade and offer features and I've recently gotten their debit card which makes access to funds easier. Pros Venmo is incredibly easy to set up on your devices and you're able to do transactions with the push of a button. Any bank account that I've tried to link up has been successful with no issues. Venmo easily tracks balances, purchases, and funds received. I like that you have the option on sharing your transactions or keeping them private. Also like the fact that it can be easily linked up to contacts in your phone or device. Cons I don't like that you are forced to put what you are paying for. I wish you could leave that field blank if you choose to do so. Maybe give a warning like "transaction details will be blank, click box to proceed." Review Source MM Marian M. It's pretty user friendly, and makes receiving and sending money a breeze. More people are using Venmo for either personal or business transaction. And everyone seems to have their own Venmo. I am not sure about the privacy, but look like it has been received a lot of good reviews. Pros The best part of Venmo is that users can easily send money to their friends, retailer, etc. through Facebook account or via bar code. This software makes the transaction become easier, no extra fee for send/ receive money. People can view the transactions right away and they can also see what other people send money for. Cons Although there are more pros than cons for Venmo, there is still some inconvenient while using the software. Venmo allows you to send money and receive money right away, but the money will not appear in your bank account immediately. Users will have to wait for a couple day in order to see the amount existed in their account. However, if you want to receive money immediately, you can pay a little fee to have the money ready for use in your account. Pros Venmo is the easiest software to use out of any of the money transfer apps I've attempted to use in the past. Whenever a new user signs up they know instantly what to do and rarely, if ever, have questions. Cons The fact that you can't take money back is a major concern. I've heard stories of scams and have sent incorrect amounts or to the wrong person in the past and there is zero ramification. Once you link a bank account, it becomes a very practical means to move money and accept payments from clients. Cons Instant bank transfers cost a small fee, otherwise you can transfer money to your bank for free in 1-3 days.
