One person pays, and everyone else just sends their portion of the bill to that person via Venmo. You can send publicly or privately. Pros Easy to install and connect with your bank account. Send money to friends within seconds, just a few taps. Great for splitting bills or sending gifts. Cons At one point I had to re-verify Venmo with my PNC Bank account, which was a bit of a hassle. However, the issue may have come from the PNC Bank side of things. As banks roll out their own money-sharing apps (such as Zelle), they may be less inclined to continue supporting Venmo. The QR code scan feature for finding users to pay and request money from makes transactions very quick. Additionally, the option to link multiple bank accounts is convenient as you can easily select which accounts you'd like to transact money with. Transfers are quick, I can set up multiple debit cards to send my balance to whether its my business account or personal account. It's kind of cool that you can also see transactions of others as well (you can't see the amounts) it almost reminds of a social media app in a way. Pros I like that this software is very user friendly once downloaded, and there is really no learning curve after you have used applications like cash app, PayPal, and Zelle for so long. Cons There is nothing that I do not like about this software. May 20, 2021 2.0 Initially it was wonderful but then one fraud purchase after at the other. Which would not allow me to of make any transactions for a week or so. Then they absolutely shut my account down after changing my user name. We are now over 3 months without being able to actually talk to a person. Every time I contact their customer service, they said that this has been escalated and I can only talk to a certain account representative that I cannot ever call or email. This company is a joke. Pros Originally I loved using venmo because of its convenience and everyone having it. However that changed quickly with their lack of customer service. Cons Worst customer service I have ever experienced is quite the statement, however at this company deserves it. I have never had so much fraud and then have customer service not be able to actually talk to a person. My account was frozen 3 months ago and they keep asking me for information that I have already provided while not allowing me to talk to anyone that will solve my problem. Review Source Kyle W. One of the best things I use it for is to pay rent as well as split utilities between myself and my roommates. Pros Venmo has resolved everyone's issue of having cash on hand to pay for little things. I love how I can quickly pay or request payment from my friends for things like parking, food, nights out. Cons I really cant say I've come across any cons with Venmo as I can immediately transfer funds to my account within a day and they've connected everyone I interact with on a weekly basis through connecting my account with my Facebook. Pros I find Venmo 100x easier than PayPal and I love the fact that you can use little emojis for what you purchased. For some reason, I find that fascinating and find myself scrolling through to see what my friends are spending money on - something I never thought I'd do! Cons Not that I really don't like it, but you MUST put something (emoji/msg) before you can finish the process of sending money. Pros I like this app because is easy of use and you can pay all online with an internet connection, and the best is that you can share the pay with other peoples with credit card, for pay anything is so usefull. Cons Honestly I dont found any cons, the only thing that is bad is when you go to pay in other countries is more late but not to late, I think we can be best if this app have more services around the world in all the countries. Highly recommend everyone to download and try it out. Pros Venmo makes it easy for users to send and receive money. Personally, I use Venmo for most of my bill collections from roommates and landlords. Cons One of the only things about Venmo that is unfortunate is the charge issued on direct deposit. It's not much and is worth it if you're looking for quick cash to be inserted in your bank. It is nice they cap it at $10 no matter what amount of money your transferring. I will definitely continue to use this program!! Pros I enjoy using this program with my company because we can transfer funds from employees and customers easily. A customer comes in and buys a product, and just within a few taps on their phone, the money is then transferred over to us, easy as can be. Cons Cons of using this app is that some people are weary about it, instead of using the program for instance; zelle. This app allows me to pay for a whole group of friends on one card, and then you can just have every one pay you the exact amount needed instantly. You dont have to worry about having the right denominations of cash or making change. Overall it just makes life more convenient. Pros I think this app is the easiest way to transfer money between friends. It is a quick way to pay somebody back when you don't have any cash on you, and only takes a minute to do. Even quicker if you have already used the app with that person. Cons I don't really have any complaints about this software. When I did research online I heard complaints about people having payment errors and such. So I don't use this program to transfer large sums of money, but feel totally comfortable using it for small expenses. Review Source AP Anne P. It's easy to use (as long as you make sure you are sending money to the right person). It's fast and efficient. I love Venmo. Pros I use this app very often to transfer money to friends. There isn't an easy & free way to transfer money from bank account to bank account through banking apps, so venmo is a life saver. Americans are using credit cards more often now and many people don't carry cash with them. Therefore, Venmo is a life saver when you need to split the bills. It is also good for roommates – paying the utilities. Cons There was an incident when a friend had tried sending me money but had sent it to someone else with the same name by accident. We both tried contacting customer service and could not get a hold of them. There was no email listed online and no phone number to reach them. Finally we got it resolved after getting a hold of customer service on the phone, but it was NOT an easy process. SO - don't make a mistake when transferring money. November 9, 2019 5.0 I use it frequently to send and receive money. I usually quickly empty my balance into my bank account, there doesn't seem to be any benefit to having money in the app already. Pros It is a great way to pay friends for anything! There are no fees so I don't need to worry about paying too frequently. Everyone in college uses Venmo Cons It is a little too public for me. The purpose is to send money back and forth, but for some reason there is a social media feed like thing on it, where you can basically see who hangs out with who. It's a small thing though. May 12, 2020 5.0 Overall, I think Venmo is a convenient mobile pay app. I use it almost every day to pay friends for dinner, going out, etc and I have not had any problems with it other than the small ones listed above. Pros I like how easy itis the search for people and then send payment. I like that there is a QR code option when finding people on venmo. Cons I least like that there are occasional glitches where I do not receive notifications even when I turned my notification settings on. This makes it difficult to pay whoever needs to be paid on time. Also when I try to go back in the middle of making a transaction I need to start the whole thing over again. It is really easy to set up and really easy to use. Would highly recommend. Pros Venmo makes it easy to split bills such as restaurant bills, rent, and other misc. expenses with friends. Rather than trying to lug around all the cash you can instantly transfer the money. This ensures that all the parties pay or get paid. No more forgetting to bring cash or chasing your friends to pay you. Cons It's a little hard to find the correct users and parties you are trying to pay sometimes. September 22, 2019 4.0 I can easily move money around when needed. I can accept payments while I'm out and about and I also have a cute Venmo Debit card that I can use to spend from my balance or my linked bank accont. Pros This software makes it easy to request and send money. It also allows for splitting payments for meals, tickets, etc with friends or co-workers. Perfect for ordering things for the office and tracking payments. I love that you can send cute notes! Cons It will occasionally force close over and over. I will usually have to delete the app and reinstall it. Technology Coordinator E-Learning Used the software for: 2+ years ### "Better than most other Exchange Systems" March 24, 2021 4.0 Second favorite platform, Apple Pay is first, this is my favorite cross platform program and then there is Cash app. This is better accepted and acknowledged then the other two so when I ask for money there is a 90% chance someone has this already ready to go. Pros I like that this is cross platform and makes exchanges easy to process. I've used Apple Pay, which I prefer, but sadly is not cross platform. Easy name and number lookup make it easy to exchange money with contacts. The two different options, instant transfer or the 1-3 are nice options as I do not need it right away, and can choose to wait 24 hours for payment. Tying everything into a QR code when next to each other is a concise way of doing it with someone too without exchanging names or phone numbers too. The sidebar does not attempt to do too much, tracking notification, accounts and payments. Cons Offering offers is weird, but I get it, you have to monetize. I believe it's a great product to help manage and send money to where ever is needed. Pros What I like most about this product is how simple it is to keep my books. It’s easy peasy for all parties involved. Owning a children’s party entertainment company sometimes means booking a gig for the next day or even the same day. With Venmo I am able to secure a deposit instantly and secure the gig! Venmo allows me the flexibility to spend time on other aspects of my business that require my time and energy. Venmo makes everyday life so much more manageable. Pros The Venmo app is easy, effortless, and super functionable. I appreciate that I don’t have to follow multiple steps when utizlizing it. The interface makes it really easy to keep track of who sent their share, and the ability to make the transactions public helps hold people accountable without having to nag them. 10/10 would recommend for he workplace! Pros I love how simpl it is to receive payments and be able to have a very straightforward interface that shows who sent what dollar amount when. I also like that you can choose to make payment history public or private Cons Coming from PayPal I had a hard time adjusting to the interface at first since I had been a PP user for years.
