I switched from CashApp and feel Venmo is safer and more secure to use. Funds typically transfer very quickly. Pros The software is functional and easy to use. Transferring money for bills or other miscellaneous items is quick and not a bunch of steps. Pros I like that fact that I can instantly shoot money to my friends and coworkers Cons It can be kind of a pain to swap a joint bank account if you share one with a spouse or significant other. It’s AMAZING! I would say better than my actual bank honestly. Pros I love that it keeps record of every purchase made or money paid out to people and what it’s for! I can always go back and look at my orders and payments and it’s always handy. Cons I don’t like that I can see other people’s transactions/money paid to other people and what it’s for. It syncs your contacts from your phone and shows who all has Venmo and what they spend money on. I think public nature of transactions is silly. I have my settings to private, but I'm honestly embarrassed for some of the people that don't realize everyone can see all their transactions. Why would we want to see what another person is paying for with Venmo. Turn that off and use the space in a better way. I also wish there were a way, when someone sends you a QR code via text, to easily bring that in to pay that person. Pros Very easy to use. Up and going in minutes. I like how the money transfers pretty quickly to my bank. Cons The "search" tool for finding people (other users) is wonky! So many times, I've put in a name or Venmo handle exactly, and other people pull up--even if I've done transactions with that person before. Pros Payments with Venmo are quick and easy whether using it for personal accounts or small business. I can send and receive money immediately, make and process payments, transfer funds to other accounts, etc. Cons Transferring funds from a bank account to Venmo takes 5 business days. I love that I can all of the things that I would do at a normal bank directly from my mobile device or computer without having to get in line at the bank. It's safe and convenient and most of all, it's user friendly. My 86 year old grandmother uses Venmo! Pros Venmo offers money transfers and banking options at your fingertips. You can use the application on a mobile device and that makes it even easier to transfer/send money & invoices as well as check balances with just a few clicks of a button. Cons There are not any dislikes that I have about this software at this time. I have not had any internal complaints with it at my company. It is so helpful to be able to use money in the app without having to make repeated withdrawals from my bank. I also find the app easy to access and use. I think it is graphically pleasing and appreciate the option to add fun stickers or my Bitmoji to payments. Cons As a PNC customer, I have experienced issues with Venmo and my bank disconnecting and having to repeatedly re-link my bank account - which should remain linked - to transfer money to/from it. My friends and colleagues I have spoken to have also experienced similar issues, specifically if their bank was also PNC. Review Source TH Tracy H. It is useful for small businesses with clients who do not pay in cash/check and would like a simple way to send money for services. Pros Venmo is a similar app to PayPal though best used for transactions for sending friends or acquaintances money. Venmo is as also used for select retailers, some places of employment and in app purchases. The main difference between Venmo and other cash apps is that payments sent and received are available for all participants to see in a group. This can be circumvented by changing settings to private. The pro's of this system is simplicity. Download the app, input info and click send. Transactions are usually received within a few days for free or same day for a small fee charge. You can request money and add funds to bank accounts fairly quickly Cons The downside of this app is that scammers understand Venmo is not as secure a system as PayPal and there are no payment protection plans in place. Make sure you know the person you are sending/receiving funds to and from. Don't keep excess Venmo cash in your account and add a pin number for extra safety. Review Source AK Adina K. I really appreciate the quick transfer options and the fee is more than reasonable, especially when in a pinch. I look forward to how Venmo will grow and adapt for its users' benefits. Pros Makes it very convenient to send and receive payments, the popularity of the app also helps since most people already have an account. My manager and some of the older employees were skeptical about using this app because they were unfamiliar with how secure sending instant payments were, but they quickly realized the usefulness of the app. Cons I don't like that a message HAS to be written in order for the payment to be sent. It makes sense as a way to confirm and make sure the payment is going to the right person, but I feel like that could be done in another way. I would also like to default all payments as private. I've heard about the recent scams where people see the public feed and try to request money from strangers. It keeps the history of transactions which I often forget if I don't have it written down. This software helps me keep track of who I have paid and what. Pros This software allows me to send and receive money instantly without the need or carrying around cash and other alternatives. Cons I'm not a fan of the public settings. I prefer to keep my transactions private and often take off the public mode, but at times forget to make the switch. At first, I feared the security aspect of having my bank account so exposed but technology like this is readily available, I had to trust they are protecting me. Pros Venmo is so easy to use. Once you gather the recipients Venmo info, transacting financial exchanges is a piece of cake. I especially love the comments section because then I know what my expenses were so they can be properly budgeted. And you do not have to be in the same place as the recipient. The ability to do transactions across the country are great. Cons It is hard to identify anything I have about Venmo. The only feature I do not particularly like is seeing the transactions of others that have no pertinence to me. I certainly do not want my transactions showing up on someone else's phone. Everyone needs Venmo at least as an options for point of sale. Cons The only issue I have is that the dispute process for incorrect charges is a little clunky and long-winded. I love the social features, the GIF's, the emoji's, and how intuitive and easy it is to actually use. My company is even using Venmo to help collect donations for our company 5K! Pros What I love most is simply how easy it is to transfer money to others and how many people actually use it. The functionality of the app makes it incredibly easy to use and the ability to add multiple payment methods provides many options for those looking to have flexibility for where they're pulling money from. I also enjoy that almost everyone uses Venmo; even my landlord takes my rent payment through Venmo! Cons With credit card payments, there's a disclaimer that the transaction may be ran as a cash advance. I wish it Venmo could say for certain whether it will be ran that way or not, because I have paid via credit card through Venmo before with disclaimers or cash advance fees but this most recent time, I decided to risk it when I saw the disclaimer (totally on me, not Venmo though) and did end up being charged a cash advance fee and the higher interest rate for that purchase.
