I've never had an issue using this software. Pros Venmo is a very secure and innovative banking software. It was one of the first platforms that allow payment through cryptocurrency. It also is a kind of communication tool as it is possible to indicate the sender and recipient of money to a selected audience. Cons Everything is very good about Venmo. Student E-Learning Used the software for: 2+ years ### "Send money with ease!" May 6, 2020 4.0 Pros This app makes sending and receiving money very simple. If you need to pay someone back, reimburse them, send them money for any reason, all you need to do is open the app, enter the amount and who you're sending it to, and then give a small reason for why you're sending. Cons The only problem with this app is that if you send money to the wrong user/handle accidentally, there is not a clear way of how you might be able to receive the money back unless you request it back from them - but this relies on them fulfilling the request. I have roommates and we use it constantly to split the bills and pay each other back for household expenses which is a big time saver not having to worry about cash. Cons Customer service is virtually nonexistent and when I needed help in the past I wasn't able to find a number. It also would be nice if the program had more security features to deter hackers and fraud. Also I haven't had this issue since I only transfer small amounts but I know that there is a transfer limit of $2,999. I also have it linked to my grubhub payments, so I don't have to fill out any payment information for n order, I just click and am done. Pros It has an app that I use all the time on my iPhone to pay for things and also to send money to family and friends. I can use it at walmart or online when I need to make a secure transaction. I never worry because it is a subsidiary of paypal so you know that it is secure and no one will steal you credit information. Cons I just wish that I could get cash from an ATM with this app. But you usually need a card to be accepted for that. Nowadays using cash seems to be less and less normal. Review Source William C. I recommend everyone use it, because it gets even better the more people that use it. Pros I have been using Venmo since it first came out, and have recommended it to everyone I know. Bank transfers are seamless and quick, and I've never had a single glitch paying others or requesting payments. Cons Venmo is not very upfront about what is done with the money in my account. I'm still not sure if my money is being lended, invested, or whatever else. Though they are not required to tell me, I think it would be a nice disclaimer. Review Source Elaina C. Pros Venmo is a great mobile app for transferring money. I have used it for a long time, and pretty much my whole family uses it. It is easy to use and very safe. Transferring money for payments or between friends is extremely easy and fast. I also like that it can connect to my bank account so that I can instantly transfer money to my bank after I receive it. The price is right too! Cons The main thing that I don't like is that you have to have Venmo installed on a phone to use it. I can't transfer money when using Venmo online on a desktop or laptop computer. I actually prefer PayPal to Venmo because it has more features and can be used on a computer. PayPal owns Venmo anyway, so I would much rather use PayPal, but I have Venmo for those who do not use PayPal and need to send me money. Review Source AE Akeem E. Cons There aren’t any features that I feel need improvement. The interface is user-friendly and the processing fee is minimal. The only thing they could improve on if finding a way to lower the processing fee more for immediate transactions. I do not see it ever overtaking something like paypal when it comes to secure money transfers. Pros Venmo is currently the leading payer to payer app on the market and that market share makes it impossible to run into someone who doesn't have Venmo. This is Venmo's biggest strength, by making the act of paying someone a social act, it has increased it's market share a lot. If you're looking to pay someone, they most likely have venmo. Cons Venmo is ubiquitous with payment, and has pushed out safer alternatives. The fact that venmo does not have a "for goods or services" style option is concerning and it leads to a lot of people getting ripped off. Our use it to pay my rent, to split meals and gifts, and to receive money from friends. It’s incredibly easy to use, and as long as you are alright with waiting just a few days for the money to transfer from your app to your bank account, it’s free to use. I highly recommend it! Pros Venmo is extremely easy to give and receive money to friends, family, and more! It’s very quick to set up, only asking you to input phone number, bank information, and email to confirm your account, and then you can send and receive from anyone who also has the app! After you receive money, it’s just two clicks to transfer it out of the app and directly into your bank account. Cons When transferring money out of the app, it can take from 1 to 3 days to appear in your bank account. There is a faster transfer, but Venmo takes a fee from the money you are sending. Pros Venmo makes it super easy for us to gather money after going out to lunch for work, for covering life events of team members, etc. It is also super quick and easy to transfer the money out of Venmo and into your bank account. Cons Sometimes it's not super easy to find the person you want for the first time and you have a moment of panic where you are just praying it's the right person. Pros The pros for this app are that it's very easy to use and everyone seems to have it. Cons Sometimes it's hard to find people when I want to send money or request payment. Also I don't like that information about who paid who is visible. It was extremely disturbing to me when I started seeing my friends payments. I'm shocked the people don't select "private" for their transactions. Very weird to me.... Reason for choosing Venmo More people seem to prefer Venmo to PayPal. Venmo is easy to use for our customers online and in person. We use it as our point of sale platform. There is low fees and it easily connects with our business accounts. But now I try to exclusively use it, especially since it makes it fun with the social feed. Pros My favorite part about Venmo is the social media aspect. It's fun to keep friends guessing on what you're paying for when you only include emojis in the feed. But most importantly, it's great how easy it is to send friends and family money when Venmo is tied to your bank account. Cons The only thing I don't like is that you cannot add a balance to your Venmo account from your bank like PayPal. If you can, then the UI in the app isn't very user-friendly and I can't seem to find that option. I still use PayPal, just much less and only when someone else requests it. If a friend forgot his wallet, he can just Venmo you. This solves so many issues I previously had! Insanely useful app. Also increasingly replacing PayPal with young people. Cons Honestly, very few issues with the app. It's a little odd that payments default to public, so that others can see who paid who (within their network), but that seems to be part of their model. Kind of a fun social network vibe.
