Pros This is the easiest and safest app to use to pay someone or request money from someone. If you ever forget your wallet and a friend pays for your food you can pay them right back with a few clicks. Venmo can transfer the money to your bank account for free in 1-3 business days or change a maximum of 10% to have it in there right away. Cons I think this app is great the way it is! " January 21, 2021 3.0 Venmo allows their users to add pictures or add notes that are more upbeat and send an overall positive vibe then just words alone. Pros Venmo has not been around as long as some other payment options. However, this product has quickly grown because of how easy it is to setup an account and use it. You can have a personal and a business account with Venmo and be able to switch accounts without logging out. Cons So far there have not been any issues that would cause me to stop using this product. If Venmo was an option to use when shopping online, then others would use it more frequently. October 13, 2020 5.0 Overall, Venmo is a great app to pay your friends and transfer money to to others. I would highly recommend! Pros The ease of this app is so awesome. You can transfer money or pay bills super easily. Also when you import your contacts, its easy to find the people you need to pay. I would recommend this app to anyone! Cons The only thing I don't love is that everyone can see who you are paying and how much money you send. I believe there is an option to turn this off. I will continue to use this product in the future. Pros Venmo is a great product for exchanging money straight from your bank account without having to deal with cash. We use it between co-workers almost daily and it eliminates having to collect money manually for things like lunch or gifts, etc. Cons You always hear stories about sites like this being hacked. Pros Venmo makes it easy to pay or be paid by friends, colleagues, clients, etc. I like that there's a record, that I don't have to pay people with cash, and the social element can be kind of fun (depending on the situation). Cons I really don't have any complaints. I use so many of these payment apps that I sometimes get functionalities mixed up, but this works great overall. Review Source Courtney K. In the events industry, especially, you have florists, photographers, musicians, and the like who exclusively use this platform for their transactions. This seems to work well, but I think offering an alternative method of payment is still a considerate thing to do. Not everyone wants to use Venmo, so it may exclude some folks. Pros I, like most people, love the ease of Venmo. You can pay/receive payment from someone on the spot and easily see your record of transactions. I appreciate that you don't have to pay big fees to use it. If you are charging clients small-ish amount for services ($3000), it's a great tool to consider. For bigger amounts, I'd consider also offering an alternative method that accepts credit cards without charging them a fee. Cons It frequently disconnects with my bank account for no apparent reason. Also, I had a hard time making large payments ($2K). I had to get verified, but that was going to take too long, so I split the payments up into smaller chunks. Annoying, but not a deal-breaker. November 18, 2021 5.0 Pros Venmo is extremely easy to use for guests & team members. As long as you have the ability to scan a QR code then you can use this software. Payment is instant and you see confirmation that it was accepted immediately (guests & team members). It makes it much easier than cash and since everyone has a smart device, it's available for all! Cons The integration into our business did take some effort - but no different than when you consider the other virtual pay methods (Apple pay, Samsung pay, Google pay, etc.). Once you find and work around any system stumbling blocks you will be off & running with success and the team & customers will appreciate it. Our system has many one-off features and that makes it more challenging (but not impossible) to integrate. But early on they suspended our account over suspicions of fraud that we never could get a proper explanation of who or what fraud was committed, other than a customer service representative telling me it was a federal regulation but was unable to tell me which one. It got resolved but not until after a lot of going through hoops, and that kind of things leaves a lingering bad taste in your mouth. Pros It is nice to offer a popular payment option to our customers. For a long time we were often asked if we accept Venmo until we heard enough and decided to check it out. Set up and integration onto our website was easy at first, but then the trouble started. Cons Their Customer Service team. Whenever you have to call them you can expect to either be put on hold for chunk of time or sit around and wait for a call back. When they do call back or pick up, it's 50-50 as to whether you'll be lucky enough to get somebody who understand or cares about your problem, and so you then need to speak to their manager which is another hold. Pros I love how easy it is to connect with people in your social circle (or look up contacts) and how simple and fast person-to-person transactions are. Cons Moving money into and out of traditional bank accounts is very slow and expensive. If you're dealing with ACH instead of card transactions, this can be a difficult software to use. I've used it with multiple families while tutoring because it is easier and more accessible than writing out checks. Cons I don't have any cons about this software. It is so easy and quick to use; I don't ever want to go back to where I was before downloading it. Pros I could write 100 positive reviews about Venmo in the amount of time it saves me. The app means more going to the bank and filling out forms each and every time I need to withdraw or deposit money. I also no longer have to worry if I have cash (or stop by an ATM) if someone pays for something and I need to reimburse them. I also don't have to carry around a checkbook or order checks, meaning this free app saves me money! It is quick, efficient, and so helpful. Cons The only downside about Venmo is the time it takes to withdraw money into your bank account. It usually takes 2-3 days to see a deposit come through, which isn't a big deal if you plan accordingly. They do offer the option of an instant deposit for a small fee, though. They get the money right away Cons That it’s so easy for someone to open an account with your info. I got hacked once and they took hundreds at a time before i noticed. Venmo didn’t send me any notifications. I noticed when i contacted my bank. Thankfully they refunded my money. But venmo protected the scammer and could not help me get my money back. Instead of constantly trying to keep tabs on who owes who what, I can easily request or send money right away. Additionally, in a work environment, we can send money from one department to another for quick purchases for the company. I can't recommend this convenient app enough. Pros Venmo is incredibly easy to use. I use Venmo in both my personal life and in work. Sending money or requesting money is as easy as typing in the amount and pressing send or request. Also, I love how fast the money appears in your account typically within 1 business day I have the money in my account. Cons I had a problem with Venmo a few years ago so I decided to delete the app. Then, missing the convenience of it I decided to re-download it. However, it would not let me link back up to the proper account I wanted to use. I ended up having to attach it to another account that is not preferred. I did reach out to customer support but never heard back from anyone. Pros Venmo is an easy and convenient way to pay friends, family, and colleagues for whatever it is they need payment for. Whether you're out to eat with you friends and need to pay one of them for the order, or are selling a household item and need to receive a payment from a buyer, Venmo makes it a breeze. Cons Venmo allows users to publicly or privately post their payment. I don't like this. Everything should be done privately, without the option of publicly posting it. I know Venmo is geared more towards social interactions and payment among family and friends, but not everything needs a social aspect to it. I don't need to see that my friend of a friend paid their grandma for some trinkets. Also, sometimes, on Android, payment received notifications are very delayed, or don't come at all. Venmo is seemless and it’s a go to for me for receiving payment. Pros The functionality and the mobile access is was I enjoy most as well as the layout and dashboard on my desktop computer. February 12, 2019 5.0 I highly recommend Venmo if you need to send or receive money from anyone. Pros What do I love about Venmo? EVERYTHING! This app is simple as it sets out to do one thing and does it really well: makes it easy to transfer money between people. I downloaded it out of irritation because a friend was sending me cash and needed a way to do it quickly. "Not another app" I thought. Since then, I've deleted several other similar apps in favor of Venmo. It's easy to find people who are using it and just as easy to invite others to start. The verification process takes minutes (not days!) and cash is sent instantly. With a minimal feel you can even transfer your newly deposited funds into your bank account immediately, or for free, wait 24 hours until they are available. More stores are accepting Venmo at checkout and you can even request a Venmo debit card. I also love that sending money doesn't require 49 different steps. Seriously, just select the person to whom you're sending the money, enter the amount, verify and send. So simple, super intuitive, and even my elderly parents can operate it without problem.
