Pros No one carries cash anymore, and Venmo is an amazing way to get your money back timely. I used to wait weeks for my kids to come up with cash when they owed me money, but now it's quick and easy. If they don't send it fast enough, I send a request. Boom! No excuses Cons If you don't catch the notification that someone sent you money, the money sits with Venmo until you either request it, or after a few months, it gets sent back to the originator. Also, now that they have lots of users, it's harder to find the person you are looking for. I like the added security that you have to give the last four digits of their phone number so you don't accidentally send money to someone you don't even know. Pros Venmo is simple to use and transactions are fast and secure. I like being able to make a long-distance payment quickly and easily, just as if I were presenting my payment in person. Reporting makes it easy to double-check accounting and make sure my records are accurate. Cons The social feature that allows sharing payment information is not appropriate for most business transactions. It should be easier to turn off. February 25, 2020 5.0 I've never had a bad experience with Venmo so I have no complaints, so I am curious what the customer service would be like if my account were to be hacked, compromised, etc. Pros Sending money to others is instant which is super helpful especially when splitting checks for meals out with friends or family. Everything is super fast. Cons Sometimes it takes awhile to load up when you use your fingerprint to log in. I personally don't like seeing what random strangers are paying for. It reminds me of FB status updates but without showing dollar amounts. Just seems kind of unneeded. Pros One of the best things about Venmo is the convenience it offers. Venmo also has a large user base, meaning that most people with smartphones accept payment through Venmo. Cons The usability could be slightly improved. For example, some features are not intuitive or discoverable. I love everything about how easy it is to exchange and or purchase things through Venmo. What I like most about this software is how extremely user friendly it is! Cons I have not run into any problems with Venmo personally but I have heard weird rumors that if you are not using it appropriately you can run into problems. So being able to accept Venmo payments is a great thing. As mentioned in a meeting regarding this specific thing it was mentioned that reducing the friction between someone making a purchase and them paying is the goal in ecommerce. Venmo helps to do this. Pros Venmo makes sharing a purchase with friends or colleagues easy. It can be used to pay the babysitter and also split large purchases among multiple people simply and easily. Cons I do not enjoy social aspect of Venmo. I do not need to know who of my contacts are paying other contacts or for the purpose. I like how easily I can split expenses between my friends and family. I have accountant-like tendencies so I like to be exact with money owed. Pros Can't imagine how I would've gotten through college without Venmo. It makes splitting expenses with roommates so easy. I like how easy it is to use. I dont like that transactions default to showing up as public. I always set my transactions to private. Cons I dont like that these days at least, you have to hit two buttons in order to pay someone. Plus, there is usually quite a lag when scrolling around the app, which I dont like because financial stuff is very sensitive. this could make it easy to press a wrong number and screw things up Review Source SV Sebastian V. It solves many money problems. Pros I like that Venmo is a free service downloadable from any digital distribution platform such as the App Store. I started using it in college once I started paying for or paying back friends for Uber rides and meals and I haven't stopped since. It has since helped me keep track of many expenses, and settle any doubts on money problems between friends. I like how easy it is to use and how it is its own little social network because, unlike PayPal, Venmo is more playful with its emojis and the ability to send fun messages. It makes the act of sending and receiving funny more enjoyable. Cons What I like the least about this software is the fact that the default option after downloading is for payments to be made public and I wasn't aware of this. I did not pay back or receive money on anything suspicious but I feel that any transaction should be made private by default. February 5, 2020 5.0 The biggest benefit we've noticed to Venmo is time saving. Gets rid of the worry of tracking purchases and etc, and lets people get paid back instantaneously. Pros It's EASY. Venmo makes it quick and easy to send money via mobile phone. It's a great alternative to submitting expense claims, and allows us to stay on top of people getting reimbursed for expenses they incur for business purposes. Cons There aren't many negatives to speak of. Venmo isn't going to revolutionize your life - it's limited in scope but but it manages to achieve it's objective very well. Due to its simple UI, I can always count on it for quick financial transactions. I highly recommend Venmo! Pros Venmo is great for paying others. With just a few button taps, money can be quickly moved from one person to another. I appreciate that Venmo provides me a record of the transactions I've made. It makes it easy for me to look back through my history to see if I've paid someone or if someone has paid me. Furthermore, I rest assured knowing that Venmo secures all my data. I also like that it gives me the option to leave money in my Venmo account so that I don't have to constantly pull money from my bank's checking account. I love how quick and user-friendly the Venmo interface is! Cons Venmo is an all-around winner when it comes to ease-of-use. The one thing I don't like about Venmo is the limitation for reminders. Currently, Venmo only allows me to remind users I've requested one time. After I've reminded them and they still haven't paid me, I can't send another reminder. As a workaround, I've been cancelling my transaction requests and re-requesting. I also would love to see Venmo roll out a feature for scheduling recurring requests to specific users. Pros I love the ease of use and how people can pay me and I can pay them with a click of a button for FREE Cons It can be heard to connect to people sometimes, so I worry that maybe it is going to the wrong person, especially if they have not uploaded a photo. Pros It's extremely easy and intuitive to use once it is set up, both to transfer funds to another user or to receive funds and transfer to your own banking account. We also like the option to make transactions public or private. Cons The only con is that it can sometimes be difficult to find users without knowing their exact username. It has been really helpful in transferring money to people while buying used furniture, and to settle bills with roommates. Pros The ubiquity of this app. Almost all my friends have it, hence it makes it easier to coordinate with them regarding expenses. It is easy to split utilities with roommates. The ability to check previous payments to see if we have settled our balances or not. The QR code feature helps in making sure you are paying the right person. Cons It can also integrate features of Splitwise. Where we can create groups and add bills that are automatically split between the members of the group.
