Pros I liked that I can add multiple accounts (business and personal) and also multiple cards. Cons I disliked that I have to display my name on my account in order for it to recognize or match my bank/card in order to receive payments. I also don't like that I can't add another bank account or I am limited to how many bank accounts I can add per user/per year. We love venmo and recommend it to everyone. Pros We have more and more customers requesting to pay with Venmo. Also, we use venmo in our daily life. It is a simple, easy way to split the cost of lunches etc and keep everything on a single order. Cons They only allow one user per bank account. Because of this, my spouse and I have to share a venmo account. It would be nice if we could have 2 accounts to separate purchases but still tie to the same joint bank account. I don't usually carry cash so Venmo has become my go-to payment method for things like splitting bills, paying for movie tickets, paying for a cab, etc. You can link your account to your bank account, debit/credit card or keep a balance in your Venmo account so basically every payment method you could possibly want is covered. Cons There are fees for debit/credit card payments. I resell many items from local auctions and sales. It is a quick and easy way to request payments from buyers and the transactions show immediately. I am able to ship items all over the country to buyers without waiting for a paper check in the mail. Cons A buyer once sent the payment to the wrong account. At that point, he had to wait for the other person to send the money back voluntarily in order to send the money to me. Venmo would not step in to correct the transaction, but fortunately the other party did the right thing. Educator E-Learning Used the software for: 2+ years ### "Easy Online Payments" October 21, 2021 4.0 Venmo makes small transactions simple and quick. Useful for splitting bills and on the spot transfers. Pros Venmo is very secure and inexpensive. Transferring payments to your bank account is quick and has a low processing fee compared to other online payment platforms. Cons The default privacy settings allows your payment history to be shared publicly so you have to manually change this each time or go into the app settings to set it to private. You must also have a mobile phone number, Google Voice isn't accepted and many use it as a business number. When sending a payment to a new person, it'll ask you for the last 4 digits of the thier phone number. While this is great for security purposes, you may not know the person's phone number and I've actually entered the correct number on multiple occasions and was told the number was incorrect. Pros Love how easy it was with Venmo to link my bank account. I always feel secure running my new business account through Venmo knowing they use an encrypted system to keep my account info secure. I've never had any issues with fraud or receiving a refund from merchants if applicable. Much better experience with that sort of thing then I have ever experienced with other competitors. Cons I've literally never liked or understood why all Venmo transactions are posted publicly. I also really don't like the fact that Venmo doesn't really have any kind of Buyer/Seller Protection program. Pros Very easy to use payment system. Venmo can be used in many ways from personal to organizational funding. Flexible and strightforward, no nonsense processes. Cons I wish that getting funds instantly were not "taxed" 1%. Or maybe for folks that do business with it there should be a instant transfer as part of a plan. Most of the time, my transaction shows up on my bank account the next day. Cons I have more than one bank account connected and kept accidentally depositing/withdrawing money from the wrong account. Pros I love that I can send money to anyone, no matter what bank or credit union they use. It's fast and reliable and I like that I have the option to transfer instantly to my bank if I need to. Cons I wish there wasn't a fee to transfer instantly, but luckily it is a very small fee. And I wish you could have more than 4 cards at a time. Review Source Laura N. Pros This app is so easy to use and a must for all parents. No more writing out checks or running to get cash. I use it wherever it is allowed. From paying for my hair cuts to my kid's gas. I can use it for a variety of uses and not have to worry about fees when sending money to friends. Pros I like that I can search for people by typing in their name or their user name (can be different). I also like that I have the option of scanning another user's QR code instead of searching. There is an extra layer of security of sending money to the correct person in that it asks you for the last four of their phone number if it is someone that you haven't sent money to before. You can also skip this step if you choose. Cons I have found that not as many people are aware of it's existence and range of use. No other cons for me. Review Source Kyle E. Additionally, it allows small business owners to reach a wider audience and creates an ease of shopping that customers appreciate. Overall, Venmo has greatly improved the direct seller-to-buyer experience. Pros Venmo's user interface is straightforward and easy to use. The scannable QR codes make it so that you don't have to search through your contacts in order to make a payment to someone. From splitting the check at dinner to paying a local vendor at the farmer's market, Venmo's versatility and incredible convenience make paying others easier than ever before. Cons The default setting is to make your payments "public" which I find a bit unnecessary. There is a vague social media feel to the "feed" you see when you open the app, which seems a bit out of place for a payment platform. Review Source Brett S. Pros There a couple applications out there that perform the same functionality as Venmo, but Venmo provides a social element that the others don't. You can choose whether to public your transactions publicly or keep them private. This grants the ability to create your own social platform for your friends/coworkers to look at and see what you've been up to based on what transactions that you are making. Cons It doesn't allow the same card to be used on more the one account. I'm sure there is a reason for this, but when it comes trying to give employees who don't have a business card the ability to execute a transaction, the process becomes increasingly difficult. I love how I can request people for money to pay me back and I hardly ever use cash because of how great Venmo is. Pros I love how easy it is to use Venmo, I use it almost everyday like paying my friends back for food. I can Venmo pay or request people through text messaging which I think is a great feature. Cons I dont really like the safety of Venmo and how your bank information could be stolen. I have had a couple of friends who have had their bank information stolen from Venmo. I have a family member that was desperately in need of a quick loan and she is on the opposite side of the coast of the country. I sent it to her in time for her to pay her monthly rental fee for her apartment. This really did come in handy. Pros A great way to pay or receive payments without the physical touch of money. Cons Nothing. I think this is a real asset to give cash to loved ones or receive payments from a sale or service. All around a great product. Pros The flexibility and convenience that Venmo has brought to my business has been incredible. At the touch of a button, I can request payments from clients or they can pay me directly. Everything has a record and able to be tracked accurately for my records at home. Cons Sometimes the payments take longer than 2 business days to process. Cons I use this for a new business and found that it allowed me to set up my point of sale easily and efficiently but the payment processing I find amazing.
