Pros Venmo provides a platform to make peer-to-peer payments quickly and efficiently. It also provides social aspects with the ability to share details of transactions with friends and to be able to react to them in the form of comments and other methods. Connecting a bank account to your Venmo account is easy and simple. Cons Venmo is prone to attach somewhat large processing fees to fund transfers. It also charges fees for immediate transfers of funds from a Venmo account to a connected bank account. Review Source KM Kaitlin M. I love that I can pay other people in my company when we order food or coffee each day. It makes it to where I do not have to carry cash on me at work and can do everything with the easy use of my phone on the venmo app. This has created a better work atmosphere as fellow employees don't get upset or angry when they aren't paid back in a certain amount of time and we can easily transfer funds for our portion of coffee or food we get for long days at the office. Cons The thing I like least about this software is the percentage it takes out when you do a direct transfer to your bank account. Its a very small percentage, however it would be the best if you didn't have any of the money taken out at all. Review Source Jonathan H. April 14, 2019 5.0 Pros I've been using Venmo between my friends the past few years and it's been a great app to easily collect payments and send payments to my friends and family members! For anyone new to the app though, when you receive money it does go into your "venmo" account and it will sit there until you choose to deposit it into your bank account. If you're using Venmo quite often to pay & receive, having it sit there is great, but if you need the money right off the bat, make sure that you choose to deposit it. The great news is now they offer instant deposit for a small fee of 1%! Cons I'm constantly running into errors when I try to make payments when I'm not using Wifi. Looks like it works best when you're connected to a network. It's kind of a bummer cause there have been times where I've been out and needed to pay someone right away and the app wasn't working properly or submitting the money because it wasn't connected to the internet. I liked the easy to use software and fun emoticons. Cons I didn't like that the privacy settings were defaulted to share more than perhaps some folks would have liked. I think you need to start off very private settings-wise and allow for users to scale that down. Instead of using my regular business page where shipping is a must, I can still sell my items without shipping and hand deliver it when it's a friend that I can see. No fees, and less expensive to my customers. Pros You don't have to pay to use this! This app is amazing especially if you own a business and you don't have to ship an item, you can easily use this to pay. Venmo works great when trying to split bills or just send money. All you need is an account and link it to your bank. The transfer to your bank is very quick also. There's barely any wait time and no fees to have it transferred directly. Cons When trying to send money to a non user, one should be able to do it by emailing them and if they choose to accept the money, that's when they can create an account instead of having them create the account first. Other than that, this app does not have any flaws on my end. February 11, 2021 5.0 Venmo became an icon for day to day small money transactions in between parties. The payment can be made public is a social media fashion, but I rather keep all my transactions private, but that's just a matter of not needing to make everything public. I can't remember people complaining about the app not being safe, so it's a quite trusted system compared to other alternatives that exist. You can share your Venmo user tag or share a QR code in order to request or pay someone, so there are options and they are quite easy to get used to. There is a reason people would say Venmo me, yes, it's a thing. Pros Easy to use and straightforward. Make your transactions public, if you want. Secure, never had an issue with the system. Cons Some transaction can be posted public, and this sometimes it's not desired. Can be confusing for some new users on how to use the system. Pros Processing fees are a pain, it happens everywhere yea but those small amounts add up. I understand they got to make their money but when so many people are using Apps like these you'd think they'd be a little less greedy overall it's an amazing app and does make things very simple. I do not need to carry cash anymore, or even my wallet for that matter. After downloading the app, all that is needed is to add your banking details and you will be able to transfer money to and from your intended recipient. Simple, simple, simple. I changed my phone number and could never get in again. Pros The features advertised, though simple, sound like they could solve a problem. I like the advertised simplicity of sending money through the platform. Cons Venmo has terrible and blocking UX issues as well as privacy issues. Also, integrations with Splitwise takes the Splitwise Venmo combo very effectively. Pros Its as simple as it can get, just by a tap of a button, send money to any friend or a merchant who uses Venmo. Its like Social network to send money. Best thing is its easy, quick, simple, user friendly. For a little fun - you can also view your friends activity. Also, there are no bank barriers, two people with different bank accounts and exchange money seamlessly. Cons The merchant network for Venmo payment is very limited, so you cannot use that at many places. Since its owned by Paypal now - there are integrations that you expect but not happened yet. Pros One of the fastest and easiest ways to collect, send and receive money locally. Setup is fast and easy too, all that's needed is connecting your bank account and downloading the app. Cons I sometimes wish that this app is already integrated through the banks instead of having to download yet another app to add to the phone. With Venmo, I am able to send security deposits to landlords without being in the same city/state. This makes it easy to secure a place to live. I am able to send money instantly and in seconds. Pros I like that I can send and receive money anytime and anywhere. I link my bank account to Venmo for easy access to my debit account. I do not have to cash on me & and I can repay friends anytime. Transactions are immediate. I also like that I can request money. Venmo makes it simple to pay rent, send/receive money to friends/colleagues, and saves time! I can send and receive money instantly from my phone! Cons A con would be that it can take up to 3 days for your balance to transfer to your bank account. If it takes 1 day, that is great! Waiting 3 days can be a while to receive your money. It makes it easy to share and add users without having to look up the user and not being sure if it is them. Cons The one thing I like least about this software is that it charges you for the same day transfer.
