March 12, 2020 5.0 It is so much easier to pay someone with this app and since you can do it so instantly, you wont forget! Pros This product is so easy to use as you can send or receive money from someone in seconds. You can also transfer your money into your bank instantly, which is so convenient. Cons The only complaint I have with this software is that the only way to pay someone is if they also have this software, which makes the ease of use a little more difficult. Review Source Eric G. It makes it easy to split the bill for food, hotel, and other services. Pros I like how simple it is to pay others. You can set this up pretty simply to be attached to a bank account. From there you can pay others on a one time basis or a repeated basis. Cons I had some issues early on when I had switched phone numbers and was unable to access my account since I no longer had the mobile phone I had signed up with. This took a few months of back and forth before I was offered a realistic solution. Now things work well. We don't use it for customer payments, but we do use for purchasing. Cons Works great. The only thing we don't appreciate is that we would be charged if we used it for customer to pay our business. We use a cash/check option, but other options have the cost passed on to customer. I believe Paypal is the actual owner of Venmo although I may be mistaken. I use Venmo less for shopping and more for personal money owed to/from family and friends. I was a little disappointed in the set-up process. The app itself is user friendly. I do believe it is a secure site. I do feel like it needs more exposure or advertisement to older people. Overall I think it serves a good purpose and makes financial transactions easier. It is literally like having a digital wallet,. Pros Popular and safe. I had several people ask me if I had Venmo when we needed to exchange money. Once was for babysitting payment and once was for a split bill for a hotel for a girl's weekend . I was not familiar with this digital wallet at the time but decided to give it a try. It is an app so it is convenient. There is only a small fee which you don't pay if you transfer money from your Venmo balance. You can use it as peer/family money transfers or shopping with various merchants. Cons I found the account set-up a little overwhelming. I had trouble getting some of the info to be accepted even though it was correct information. I kept being asked to verify information that was already correct. My other issue is that even though the app is very widely used and accepted it seems to be more for the younger generation. I am in my late forties and I find it is the early thirties and younger that seem to be the main users among family and friends. This of course is not the case with merchants. Just a few days ago I sent my friend a 'birthday drink' when I was unable to attend her party. Venmo makes life and banking so much easier! Pros Venmo makes it easy to send money people when you do not have cash handy or you cannot personally connect with the person receiving the money. Sending/receiving money is essentially instantaneous. It also is free so long as you use your bank account to transfer money. Cons I share a bank account with my husband so he is unable to create an account with the same bank information. This is annoying. I like the scanning feature, so I know exactly who I am sending my money to. Pros I like how easy it is to use. I like being able to not have to worry about having cash on hand, all the time. Makes going out to each so much better or paying bills to roommates. It is very simple and clean. Cons I do not have any, I like the entire software and how it was built. It is my favorite one, out off all the ones offered. Pros I can't recommend Venmo enough to anyone looking to exchange payment, I've used it with friends, landlords, and coworkers. The app takes a few minutes to set up and get familiar with (I think the "global" feed isn't useful at all), but once you're familiar payments take under a minute. I use it to split bills, pay rent (I preferred it to giving my landlord cash), and pay back friends. The friend feed is always interesting and entertaining, it's funny to think that we're now in an age of sharing who we give money to or split lunch with. Cons It can take a few days to have money removed or deposited into your bank account if you don't want to pay a fee, but you can also leave money in your Venmo account to make or take payments from. It is a great and convenient way to get paid for dues. Cons One thing I dislike is the fact that you must have an American bank account in order to use Venmo. This is a problem sometimes because I do work with others online from other countries, who can not pay me via Venmo since they do not have an American bank account. The answer lies within the casual convenience of exchanging money between trusted friends. Pros Quick, seamless transactions. Add your friends from your contact list and splitting bills, chipping in for trips, or paying back debt cannot be easier. And myself who opened a venmo account I can now accept payment with venmo. Pros The features that I like most about this software is the ability to open an online account and get a separate debit card linked to that account. Also, you get to pick your color choice for the debit card which is so neat because I got to pick a bright neon pink color! 💗 I thought this was a great, friendly, easy-going & light, simple idea to make the app more user friendly. Cons Not a lot of people use Venmo. This is a shame because it's free and so easy to use! The features are very similar to PayPal, so I assume PayPal has been around longer or may do more advertising. Also, people may be fed up with so many different options of apps it may be a little confusing. It is unreliable, inconsistent, and insecure. Pros In all honesty, I hate the software and use any other option I can find. But it allows me to receive payments from customers who insist on using the PayPal system for payments. Cons It is unreliable and very restrictive. Customers outside the USA cannot use Venmo and that is a problem. For business and personal purposes, it blends seamlessly with every other convenience-increasing luxury we indulge in. And being able to label transactions with emojis is just plain fun. Cons Personally, I think the default privacy setting should be private, I'm not sure why an app dedicated to the transaction of money also feels the need to have a social aspect to it? While I admit that I've found myself scrolling through all the activity on my feed I still find it quite intrusive and a bit creepy that it's so easy to do. No issues with the phone app and very easy to customize. Pros The ability to take socially distanced payments now, more than ever is important. I use it for small jobs and for exchanges of money with family and friends. One of my favorite features is being able to add multiple bank accounts to your Venmo account, and then switch where you put your funds. Cons The only downside is if your friends, family or clients don't have it. Otherwise I find it hard to find anything wrong, it's great! Makes splitting bills so much easier especially since no one carries cash anymore Cons It should send notifications for money received or when someone requests a payment, but I only receive the notification when I open the app. None of my other friends have that problem though so it might be my phone. A few clicks on your phone and you've sent or received money. It is safe, reliable, and fast -- it is my \*go to\* e-transaction provider. Cons There is almost nothing not to like about Venmo; easy to use and super quick. If I had one suggestion to improve the service, it would be increasing the maximum limits. The ease of paying and receiving payment is unparalleled. I don't consider myself tech savvy, so the fact that I can use this software AND understand it, is the best part. The privacy options help me feel better about who can and cannot see what transactions I make. There is no question as to where the transactions are going, all are conveniently laid out on the main page. The time is takes for things to process is good in my book. The new options for a debit card and the fact that it is being more widely accepted as a form of payment shows me that Venmo is hard and work to keep up and that's good, because that helps me keep up. I don't have to touch money, I don't have to babysit the transaction, I dictate how and what I share, and I understand it. Keep up the good work Venmo. Cons The minor annoyance would be that I don't really care what other people are paying for, nor the comments they make. It could be that I just haven't found the feature to hide this option. It's not enough to influence my opinion too much.
