Pros I love that you can easily pay someone money from any bank account, credit card, or debit card and they get it right away. Cons I think it would be good if there was no fee for credit cards and also if there was a 5-10 minute buffer time that allows you to cancel a payment if needed. Review Source FW Frank W. As society continues to move away from using cash in most day to day transactions Venmo helps us offer our members a free and easy way to pay. Pros I can receive on-line payments from anyone for free. It fits in with all of our on-line banking requiring less trips to the actual bank. Cons So far we have not discovered a negative about Venmo. Reason for choosing Venmo Venmo was becoming more and more main stream so adopting it as a payment option to our members was a no brainer due to the ease of use and being no cost. It’s easy for people with different banking accounts to transfer money back and forth and it delivers on the spot. Transferring from the app to my bank account has never been an issue! Pros Venmo has made it incredibly easy to transfer money between myself, family members, and friends. I also like how you can charge another person (in case they forget to send you money). The area to leave a note is awesome and it creates funny memories when friends send emojis for you to decode. Cons I don’t particularly like how you can see other people’s Venmo exchanges. I made sure the first thing I did was change my privacy settings so my history wasn’t available for others to view. Also crypto trade is added benefit. Pros Ease of use. It is integrated with many mobile applications so it becomes very easy to pay. Highly recommend it as part of your personal finance "stack" Pros It is so fast, easy, and simple. Even my 65 year old parents were able to figure it out and use it semi-regularly now. Cons Sometimes feels a bit strange to have a social feed of payments and defaulting things to be public. I also personally am not interested in most of their new features they created to begin monetizing the platform. But the core function of the app is so, so good. Pros Ease of operations, easy manageable UI and proper record of transactions is something I like the most. Additionally, it becomes very easy to operate with bank account using Venmo Cons The fact that transactions can be seen by other friends is disappointing. It makes using those businesses so easy. Pros I love Venmo because now I can actually pay people back when needed because who carries cash these days? It’s easy to use and its nice and secure. Cons Venmo tries to make things “social” by showing a feed of who people are also paying other people. It feels very unnecessary. I don’t need to see whose paying for what! I also don’t love that you can’t cancel a payment. Once you’ve sent money the only way to get it back is to have that recipient send it back to you. Review Source HS Hannah S. Cons I'm not a huge fan of the 'social' aspect of it- that is, seeing who and for what people are sending money for. It should be automatically put to private, and then specifically if people want that it can be turned on. Pros I personally love Venmo and the convenience it offers. Venmo is free to download, has great security protection, and there is no fee to send money unless you need the money expressed. I have used this software for years now and I do not see myself using another software. Cons Truthfully, there is nothing I dislike about Venmo. Now, some could argue they dislike having to wait 2-3 business days to receive payment or the % fee is high for an express delivery, but those do not bother me. It's also a great personal tool for making ir receiving payments for socializing. Pros Venmo makes transferring money incredibly easy. As a freelancer, I find it is the most universally used and trusted app for making payments. Cons I don't like that withdrawing money takes days to process. They use a checking account instead of a bank debit card, so it clears as a regular ACH. I've used it to send and request for so many different reasons and sometimes I wonder how we ever lived without this! Pros I love that it is so easy to send money from the Venmo app. I just search for the person I am paying or requesting from and confirm with them that I've found the correct profile, enter amount and send. Pros I think a lot of people are scared to use a program like Venmo but I feel completely at ease using this as a way to send a receive money. It is easy & quick. One of the newest & best features is the ability to now split a payment with people whether it is a bill or an Uber ride. Cons I do wish there was a two step authorization when sending money to someone new or a way to confirm it’s really them. There are many people with no profile pictures & extremely close usernames so it can be hard to tell. I've used it for selling items in my personal life and it has made that a breeze. Pros Honestly, this app is great in sending money last minute to anyone. I am actually trying to implement it in my daily dealing in real estate when it comes to certain fees that have to be paid. Much easier to use than having someone run to a bank for a certified check. Cons The social aspect of the app, but you can hide that so it isn't to much of a pain. It used to be a one time fee you paid for instant transfer but now that you pay a certain percentage, I no longer use that option. Review Source Adity D. Several of our repair people use Venmo with their business. I don't have to get AP to write and mail a check, I can transfer the money immediately. Pros Very simple to use this product. Allows me to give gifts and bonus to my staff using the work account. I don't have to write checks or have cash. Cons I wish more people knew about it! However, I'm not 100% sure if that's all out of brand loyalty, the year I've been using it or the app itself. It remains a solid back up and runner up, however, and I would still recommend it. I do like it better than Cash App, which just seems kind of cheap to me, like the fast food of Pay Apps. Pros To be honest, I've always used PayPal personally and professionally for any online payment transactions. It's been like an old tried and true best friend. Well, I've made a new friend and it's Venmo. It's quite easy to use and had someone I do business with used it, instead of Pay Pal, I probably would have never ventured out and tried it. Cons The features are pretty simplistic and you can't get to fancy. It's basic and straightforward, but does serve the purpose of online payment transactions. I hope it becomes more readily available to use when purchasing online. Pros I love the ease of use with Venmo. It’s much easier to find people you know when sending money for personal use. Plus, my customers love using venmo to pay me since they are already comfortable and confident in usinf it. Cons The only thing I don't like is fees you get charged per transaction. If I can I would have my customers use cash vs. Venmo, but unfortunately the majority of my customers prefer this method of payment. It is one of the best platforms for sending money to friends and family with little to no effort at all beyond initial setup. Pros Venmo offers lots of convenient features for payment solutions for individuals. Venmo is oriented toward the experience of cost sharing and payment in comparison to its more professional parent PayPal. The ability to find people via contacts, their username or QR code is very convenient and easy to use. Payments transferred to a bank are very fast and I have had no issues with payments to date. There are lots of new features including direct deposit and the Venmo card but I have not utilized these features and still use Venmo as a payment platform primarily to friends and family. Cons Venmo is oriented towards the social aspect of payments which has its pros but also comes with some cons. There is little payment protection for payers as Venmo is specifically oriented towards paying individuals you know. I also don't love the news feed of payments Venmo creates but again, this platform is for largely informal payments to those individuals you know or are familiar with in person.
