Pros I love this software! It is so easy to use and gives great peace of mind that my documents are stored. I like how you don't have to do anything but simply let the software run in the background. Cons It can take Carbonite quite a bit of time to restore documents after a factory reset of the computer. While I understand that a lot of files take time, it does seem that there can be some duplicates that don't need to happen. Pros I like that this gives peace of mind that all my files will be safe. I like the green dots that show easily which stuff is backed up. also, i like that you can get to your files easily in the cloud as needed. Pros I like that this software is very reliable. It is working in the background constantly updating all new files. Not only that, but it doesn't slow down the computer while doing it which is a huge plus in my book. I've had many other software programs slow my computer down and I end up ditching them. If we accidentally delete a file, we can go into Carbonite and recover it. Cons A couple downsides to this is that if you do happen to lose your information, it takes a long time to download all of the files back onto your computer. Another downside is that Cabonite does not backup any files that have the symbol ~ in the name. I use this often to put certain commonly used files up at the top of list for quick access. We do not have a central server and so everyone has company information stored on their laptops. You select which folders, files or drives you want backed up. It will back them up and you really don't need to do anything. I had to restore a few files and it was a snap. Cons Sometimes it goes offline and I need to reboot my laptop to get it recognize my mac. Once I do that it is all good to go. Review Source Christopher W. The Mac user interface was easy to work with. It also appears to not tax resources on the computer Cons Account maintenance was not at all intuitive and there was no way to upgrade easily once a plan was chosen. A support person had be brought in and then it was discovered that the free trial was be forfeited if the plan was upgraded. I don't have to worry about losing one file should something go wrong at my workplace. Cons Sometimes Carbonite loses its connection to the internet and sends a message that you have not backed up in X number of days/weeks. Pros I love that it backs up everything on my computer automatically to the cloud. I would not remember to manually backup my computer often enough to save myself from a hard drive failure. I also like to be able to access any file from my phone at any time. Cons I wish that I could download multiple files at once when I go into Remote Access. I can only get one at a time. Designed more for the IT folks at bigger companies. Pros Carbonite automatically backs up your entire user files making it easier to transfer between an old or disabled PC and a new machine if you have tech experience. February 1, 2019 4.0 We installed this product on all of our PCS after wey lost all of our PC data during a ransomware attack. None of the pcs were backed up and only the servers. This offers us an inexpensive way to have peace of mind. Pros You are able to access the carbonite backup drive right in the file explorer. From this carbonite backup drive you are able to see what files have been backed up, what is pending. You are able to restore files or pause the backup. Very easy for a non-tech person to use. Cons As an IT technician, the administrator portal does not allow many functions so you must connect to the users pc in order to select any files to remove from the backup. It does it automatically every 24 hours and I never have to worry about losing my work, videos, music or photos. It also awesome because I can access all of my files on any of my devices from my phone, which is super convenient. Their prices are very reasonable and the service is completely reliable. I have been using the service for 4 years now and have never had any kinds of problems with it. Always reliable, always fast. I highly recommend Carbonite to anyone that needs easy backup and restore service without having to do a thing. What a great feel to know that your information is being constantly protected. It doesn't slow your system down either. Cons I would always like it to be free to users but I doubt that will happen. We trialled a few different options but this was the best one. Pros Once it is set up properly you don't need to touch it again. If a problem occurs, it gives you a notification and is fixed easy. Cons Indicating which files and folders to back up can be a pain. By default, it backs up heaps of things that don't need backing up. Keep in mind I would always have a local backup and then have that backup copied to the cloud. Pros Makes backing up your whole machine or just some important data extremely easy. I love to be able to look up things from my backup on the app. Cons The thing I least like about it is that you have to manually choose to backup each video. October 3, 2019 5.0 It has been excellent. Highly highly recommended. Pros It is so easy and works so well. I have had a computer crash and was thankfully already using Carbonite. It was so simple to load everything on the new computer. It is absolutely worth the money. Cons I don't like when they contact me to try to upsell new products. The one I have works great for me. Pros The security of having my files automatically backing up to the cloud. Cons Files aren't always uploaded as they exist on your computer. Owner Construction Used the software for: 2+ years ### "Good for Windows but couldn't make it work on a Mac" February 20, 2017 3.0 I have been using Carbonite on my Windows machine for almost a decade. It's easy to use, cheap, and their customer service is excellent. I've never waited any more than a minute or two for a chat session and they use a really easy remote login client that saves a ton of time. I thought I'd try it on my wife's Mac and 3 frustrating days later I pulled the plug and cancelled the subscription. I chatted with 4 different reps over 5 sessions and no one could get it to work any longer than 15 or 20 minutes. That aside, I have no hesitation in recommending it for any Windows installation.
