My overall experience with Clio has been very positive. It has helped us keep client matters, documents, billing, tasks, and other important information organized in one system. It is reliable, user-friendly, and saves time compared with managing information across multiple platforms. Once you become familiar with the system, navigating and managing daily work is straightforward.

Pros

Clio is very easy to use and keeps everything organized in one place. I especially like the document management, client and matter organization, invoicing, and time-tracking features. The interface is clean and easy to navigate, which makes managing day-to-day work much more efficient. Customer support has also been helpful whenever assistance was needed.

Cons

Some features can take a little time to learn, especially when setting up workflows or customizing certain settings. There are also areas where additional customization and automation options would be helpful. Overall, though, these are relatively minor compared with the benefits of the platform.

I was skeptical about adding another platform when we barely had time to plan, but tracking everything in one place actually saves us hours each week. Honestly, our client communication is way better now since nothing falls through the cracks. For a small team like ours juggling multiple events, it just works. It’s definitely worth the effort to set it up properly from the start.

Pros

Last year, we had a wedding venue confirm and a corporate gala on the same Saturday, it was a total nightmare. Now, Clio's calendar keeps our vendor schedules, client meetings, and site walkthroughs visible to the whole team. Having that contact database means I’m not stuck digging through old emails for caterer details at 9pm anymore. The document storage works just fine for contracts and floor plans, too.

Cons

When we’re on-site doing venue checks, the mobile app takes a minute to load our full event list. It’s not a huge problem or anything, I just make sure to open it a bit before I actually need it.

Honestly, we figured we’d outgrow it in three months, or at least spend half our time fighting with features meant for law firms. Six months later, my business partner and I are using it every day for contracts, invoicing, and keeping the team in the loop. It’s actually worth the money, especially when I think back to the absolute spreadsheet disaster we were dealing with before.

Pros

Invoicing keeps pace with our irregular billing cycles, mineral sales don't follow monthly patterns, and Clio handles that without forcing us into rigid templates. Honestly, the document storage surprised me the most. Having equipment permits, mineral rights paperwork, and supplier contracts all in one place is a relief compared to having them scattered across old emails and filing cabinets.

Cons

The mobile app feels like an afterthought when you're out at the quarry with spotty signal. Some of those legal-specific features take up menu space we'll never touch in mining operations, but honestly, they don't really get in the way either.

The automated features and task tracking save valuable time, allowing me to focus more on clients and less on administrative work.

Cons

What I liked least about Clio is that its pricing can feel high for smaller firms or solo practitioners, especially if you’re not using all of its advanced features. While the basic tools are straightforward, there’s a noticeable learning curve when it comes to mastering automation, reporting, and customization options. Additionally, some integrations require extra setup time, which can slow down the onboarding process.

I signed up for a full year of Clio CRM includes Clio Grow, Clio Manage and Clio Draft and invested a significant amount of time testing and configuring multiple services to see whether the platform would suit my work and workflow. Unfortunately, the system required an excessive amount of configuration. I spent around two months setting everything up and trying to get the platform working in a way that suited my business. Despite this, some of the features I needed were not functioning as expected, and the Clio team was aware of these issues. What was most disappointing was the response when I raised my concerns. Even though certain features were not working and the service was not meeting the expectations based on what was advertised, Clio refused to provide any refund or reasonable compensation. I understand that software can have limitations and technical issues, but customer service should also take into account the circumstances. When customers commit to an annual subscription based on the features and services advertised, there should be a reasonable refund or resolution process when those services cannot be provided as promised. Overall, I found the platform unnecessarily complicated to configure, and my experience with the customer-service team was particularly disappointing. Based on my experience, I would recommend carefully evaluating whether Clio is suitable for your workflow before committing to a long-term subscription.

Pros

Honestly, I could not identify any meaningful pros from my experience. I would recommend looking at other CRM options before committing to Clio, especially if you are considering an annual subscription.

Cons

Overcomplicated system, excessive configuration, and additional costs for multiple services and features. I spent around two months configuring the platform, only to find that some features were not working as expected, including issues the Clio team was already aware of. Despite this, Clio refused to provide any refund. Overall, the platform did not meet my expectations, and the customer service around the refund request was particularly disappointing.

Clio advertisement was attractive but later found that it was false and misleading.

A very robust legal assistance tool that manage contracts, documents and even caseloads. A large firm can justify its purchase.

Pros

This tool has a lot of added features that can be integrated with other legacy applications that you can use to export data.

Cons

The tool is robust and large. It would take a large budget in order to purchase this tool for the legal team.

Overall, my experience with Clio was positive. It is a comprehensive legal practice management platform that helps streamline case management, billing, and daily workflows, although there is a learning curve for some features.

Pros

Clio is easy to use and provides helpful tools for managing cases, documents, contacts, billing, and legal workflows. It keeps important information organized in one place and makes collaboration and case management more efficient.

Cons

Some advanced features can take time to learn, and certain customization options could be improved. The overall cost may also be higher for smaller firms or teams.

Clio is one of the most complete and polished legal practice management platforms available today. It excels in the areas that matter most to law firms: document management, billing, client communication, and workflow automation. The navigation is clean and intuitive, and the platform’s extensive integration ecosystem makes it easy to connect Clio with the tools you already use. Customer support is a standout strength, and the platform’s continuous development means new features and improvements roll out regularly. However, Clio’s pricing can be steep, especially for solo practitioners or firms that don’t need advanced features. Some capabilities — like document automation, custom reporting, and AI tools — require higher-tier plans. Despite the cost, Clio delivers strong value for firms that want a single system to manage matters, documents, billing, and client communication without juggling multiple platforms. It’s reliable, modern, and built with the legal workflow in mind.

Pros

Value for Money: Clio isn’t the cheapest option, but the platform delivers strong value because it replaces multiple separate tools — billing, document storage, client communication, intake, and reporting — in one system. Reviewers consistently note that the real value appears in the Essentials and Advanced tiers, where workflows, integrations, and reporting unlock major efficiency gains. Customer Support: Clio’s support is widely considered industry‑leading, with high satisfaction scores and 24/7 support available on higher plans. Users praise the responsiveness and depth of knowledge from support staff. Ease of Use: The interface is clean, modern, and intuitive. Navigation between matters, contacts, billing, and documents feels natural, and most users report that the learning curve is manageable compared to other legal practice management systems. Document Management: Clio offers strong document management with templates, automation, and integrations with Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, and NetDocuments. Documents can be tied directly to matters, shared with clients, and generated using merge fields. Invoicing: Billing and invoicing are major strengths. Clio supports hourly, flat-fee, contingency, LEDES billing, batch invoicing, online payments, and trust accounting. Many firms report that invoicing is significantly faster and more accurate after switching to Clio. Navigation: Matter pages act as a central hub where everything — documents, notes, tasks, time entries, billing — is connected. Navigation between related items is smooth and logical. Integrations: With 250+ integrations, Clio connects to nearly every major legal or productivity tool, making workflows more seamless.

Cons

Value for Money: Clio is one of the more expensive platforms, and some features are locked behind higher-tier plans, which can feel like nickel‑and‑diming for smaller firms. Ease of Use: While generally intuitive, solo practitioners sometimes find Clio overwhelming because it includes more features than they need. Document Management: Advanced document automation is only available on higher tiers, which increases cost. Invoicing: No built‑in accounting system — you must integrate QuickBooks for full accounting functionality. Bugs and Issues: Occasional bugs appear after major updates, especially with new AI features or integrations. Most are resolved quickly, but they can disrupt workflows. (Inference based on “continuous product development” and rapid feature releases, which often correlate with minor bugs.) Navigation: While generally smooth, the sheer number of features can make the platform feel complex for new or small firms.
