Pros

The software is a tremendous Time savings for my position. The accuracy of voting and record keeping is top quality, the transparent for constituents is absolutely amazing and acceptable. The fact that users submit agenda items with attachments if need be is a plus! Capability of making corrections is a big help to me. . Record keeping is definitely a plus! The customer service is quick and knowledgeable. They are very friendly and efficient with concerns and returning phone calls.

Cons

I can honestly say that since day one of using the board docs software we have had no downtime, no issues, and no major problems . I cannot think of any cons with the software. The annual conference is great but could use more sessions for users with more experience. Otherwise, I have no problems or suggestions for the program. We have implemented almost 99 percent of the software options. Thanks for an amazing service!

Overall, a great software for any school to manage their board of education documents, minutes, and agendas. However, the software itself needs major improvements on loading things more efficiently and being more reliable.

Pros

It is easy to view all school board meeting agenda items for each corresponding meeting. All policies, bylaws, and meeting documents are available for each meeting.

Cons

The software sometimes lags when you first open and crashes frequently. Additionally, it takes forever to load meeting information at times.

Pros

BoardDocs (by Diligent) is a specialized cloud-based board management solution designed primarily for the public sector, including local governments, school boards, and special districts. It is widely considered the industry standard for organizations that must operate under public transparency laws (like the Brown Act in California or similar "Sunshine Laws"). Easy to use.

Cons

Dated User Interface (UI) Compared to newer, "sleeker" SaaS platforms like Boardable or OnBoard, the BoardDocs interface feels somewhat like a legacy system. While it is functional, it lacks the modern, intuitive "look and feel" that younger board members might expect. 2. Mobile Experience While BoardDocs is web-based and accessible via tablets, it does not offer the same level of seamless offline reading or annotation capabilities found in native mobile apps of high-end corporate portals. The PDF viewing experience on mobile devices can sometimes be clunky. 3. Learning Curve for Admins Because the system is so powerful and customizable (especially the approval workflows), the initial setup and training for the Administrative Assistant or Board Clerk can be intensive. It is not a "plug-and-play" system; it requires a disciplined setup to work correctly

Pros

One of the best aspects of BoardDocs is how it centralizes all board material is one easy to access location. I love that it eliminates the need for printing and distributing copies which saves time and resources. The searchable archive is the most helpful feature of BoardDocs. It is easy and quick to find past agendas, meeting notes, and other supporting documents. The layout is also very easy to navigate even for the public. BoardDocs is so easy to navigate through. I especially like the search function when I need to find a specific item that has been previously approved. I also like how the user receives policy updates through the Pro version of Board Docs.

Cons

At this time, I do not feel that BoardDocs is lacking in any area and it was actually quite easy to teach to all the other users. While BoardDocs is a great tool, there are a few areas that could be improved. At first when using BoardDocs, it is somewhat difficult to learn especially uploading and organizing the content. It is also isn't as customizable as I would like for our district's needs. That said, once I got familiar with the system, it works smoothly and delivers great value.

My overall experience with BoardDocs has been positive. That said, there’s still room for improvement in areas like system speed, integration with other tools, and overall interface design. Once you’re familiar with the system, though, it’s a powerful and convenient solution for managing board operations.

Pros

The platform is user-friendly and intuitive, making it easy to navigate even for new users. Search functionality makes it easy to locate past agendas and minutes. What I personally like the most is that they provide secure access controls for different user roles.

Cons

Mobile experience isn’t as smooth or feature-complete as the desktop version. what I dislike the most is the occasional system lag or downtime during peak usage.

BoardDocs worked well for organizing board‑level documents and meetings and gave real value in reducing admin overhead. If you’re running a board or committee process, it’s a strong fit, though you’ll want to budget some time for setup and make sure mobile access meets your needs.

Pros

I liked how BoardDocs made it easy to gather meeting materials, agendas and minutes all in one place. It saved our team a lot of time on document prep and the board members picked it up quickly. The transparency it provided helped improve our governance process.

Cons

I didn’t like how the search and filtering features sometimes didn’t let us find what we needed quickly, especially for older documents. The mobile experience still felt a bit clunky. The pricing felt higher than some simpler alternatives.

BoardDocs served its purpose well for us while we had it and we enjoyed using it. We have now upgraded to Community and find it is much easier to use and better updated than BoardDocs. In all, we enjoyed using it until a more updated version came out.

Pros

BoardDocs was great when we were just starting out with moving our Board packets to digital. It made it much easier to manage our meetings and for our Board members to access the materials ahead of time.

Cons

It could sometimes be cumbersome to use and as the coding is getting out of date was hard to get any updates made to it. We also found the search feature to be difficult to use.

Easy for clients to navigate - easy for users and administrators to setup and use with busy schedule.

Cons

It can be tough for 'more experienced' constituents to navigate the site, find the schedules and documents they are seeking. There appears to be plenty of easy to follow training pages.

Greater efficiency and organization

Pros

The features and functionality of BoardDocs have exceeded our expectations and needs and have provided efficiencies beyond measure. The development and publishing of agendas and minutes is easy and hassle-free. Last minute changes are a breeze!

Cons

There is very little that I don't like about BoardDocs, and perhaps one of the only things I would change is the ability to quickly see and manage the "people" list and who is assigned to which committees. As we have a large number of committees, it is sometimes important to be able to see who is assigned to which committees overall.

By using this program it cuts the amount of time literally in half for doing the Board Meeting Agendas.

Pros

I like how you can move things around very easily. If something is in the wrong order or needs to be updated, it is very simple.

Cons

Sometimes it is hard to do charts in boarddocs. But overall I really love using this program.

Reason for choosing BoardDocs

We have been using Boarddocs since Sept 2012 and find it very easy to use. Whenever you have a question, the contact help desk is always on call to answer and help with any and all of your questions. They always figure out what needs to be done. I would highly recommend using this program.

Pros

I appreciate how easy it is to create agendas and to move agenda items around within meetings or between meetings. Also, the search function is amazing. Because we have been using BoardDocs since 2007, and agendas include a large number of attachments, we are able to pull up archived items with just a few clicks rather than searching through file folders and hard copy Board minutes.

Cons

The only drawback I see is the cost. Thankfully, our Board and administration continue to value the investment in this product. It is such a timesaver in my position!

Our overall experience with Boarddocs has been a great one. The few times I have had to call I get a quick response and follow up from them. This is truly a great product that I would highly recommend to anyone.

Pros

Boarddocs was very easy to transition to from what we were previously doing. The training was very well done which helped me be successful in learning the system. The school board members learned quickly as well. Boarddocs is definitely user friendly especially for those not electronically inclined.

Cons

I would say the only con at times is not being able to have 2 people work in it at the same time. My boss and I would like to be able to do this but I can understand why it doesn't allow us to do this.

Transparency, organizational qualities and paperless are the greatest benefits. By largely cutting back on copy paper, this District saved more than the annual price for the software.

Pros

The agenda planning, policies, linking capabilities and running the meetings have been such a powerful method of staying transparent, efficient and paperless.

Cons

I wish I could say one thing that I liked least, but I don't have anything to share in this category. BoardDocs has definitely made our School District a premier district that demonstrates good management, is organized and effective, user friendly and transparent.

Wonderful! My board has 22 regular meetings each year. This has helped us consolidate tens of thousands of documents and saved us thousands in paper each year.

Pros

Easy interface and loads of storage which makes meetings highly functional. Large organizations with voluminous paperwork will GREATLY benefit from this software.

Cons

You will need a laptop or desktop computer, and they need to get a better app. This is still in the development stages.

BoardDocs really was a low pain transition. While we had to force our board to become digital, they've now used it for a few years without any major headaches. It is saved countless trees, saved us time sending out a courrier, and since so much less paper is spread around, information has been more tightly kept. I consider it one of the better changes we've made in a few years, thanks to BoardDocs.

Pros

BoardDocs has enabled us to go paperless for our Board Meetings. We used to need to send out a courier several days of the week, spreading cases of paper around to our board officers.

Cons

BoardDocs, is a bit more classical. The overly nested pages can be less fun to navigate. For our technologically challenged, it isn't as superly user-friendly as it could be, but let's be honest, they have trouble logging in to check their email, let alone a simple web app.

Board docs is a great system except for the two months where I have large agendas. The system lags and causes me great frustration.

Pros

I like that it is a live documents and any updates or corrections are immediate.

Cons

When importing excel large excel charts, it causes the system to lag.
