Its very useful and our company has titled heavily towards using it. Its useful.

Pros

The clean look and simplicity of use. It's fairly intuitive and I am able to generally find what I need. I dont know if its my organization or guru, but I feel like the first page/landing page for us employees when we first login could be laid out better where the new content draws the eye more, right now what draws the eye most is, in my estimation, useless information - highlighted boxes for "Total number of cards " Top verifiers" and "Top Authors" That should be under settings, Who cares,. Should not be the most prominent thing when I login to Guru. A Better layout in my estimation should be a Netflix style gallery of cards - two rows, one row on top 5 most searched cards for easy access, second row 5 newest additions. That should cover about 80% of our searches.

Cons

I don't feel like the search results are the best. They are good, but I do think they could be better.

It has helped me stay informed regarding company methodologies, processes, instructions, etc. all in one place with notifications included when necessary.

Pros

What I like most about Guru is the announcements feature because that way we make sure that important information has been read by everyone and we even get notifications and reminders for that.

Cons

I think the Google suite is better than Guru for documentation but I wouldn't know exactly why. It just feels easier and cleaner to work in Google Docs. It might be the format or all the features that Google has.

Onboarding was amazing - everything is smooth and explained well.

Pros

Prior to Guru, we were using over 400 Google Docs, and the sharing, permissions, and document search were getting out of control. No one could find their docs - even inside their own department. Department Leads would just create a new Google doc when they couldn't find the old one - confusing the people who bookmarked the old one. No one knew how up-to-date the content was in our SOPs. Now, with Guru, everything is organized, data is kept up-to-date, and everyone can find the docs they need via a simple search. We also love the accountability of mass "announcing" new, or changing, SOPs and then holding people accountable to what they marked as "Read".

Cons

We cannot directly connect this to our project management system (Monday) which does create some double work.

It's so easy to use and to adopt with all of your everyday tools.

Hard to say, but I think allowing some form of customization at the user level would be an added bonus.

Pros

It's so easy to write documentation! They make it almost like a game, it's fun! The UI is fantastic

Cons

It has limited text editor capabilities so you can't do any of the cool formatting or design you'd be able to do in Microsoft Word or a different text editor.

Guru allows us to onboard new staff relatively quickly and to share solutions to help new employees get a grasp on our work tools faster, and to troubleshoot their issues quickly, which is essential for a remote workforce where everyone works from home!

Pros

Guru provides us a "wiki-" type of solution, where the team can collaborate on knowledge management and provide valuable information for the team to use on a regular basis. The best part of Guru is the integration with Slack, making it fast and easy to search and bring up relevant Guru cards, and even share and post the same cards!

Cons

It was difficult to find a solution to provide limited access to consumers in our team who only needed to receive and read information rather than contribute to knowledge management, however the Guru team was able to help set up an affordable solution.

Overall, great! Would recommend to others.

Pros

My favorite thing about guru is its search capability. The fact that I can just think of a keyword or specific topic that was on a card allows me to pull up all cards that are relevant to that search. It is extremely helpful to quickly identity the card I was thinking of and needed to find.

Cons

It was hard to find certain editing options when you're trying to update the collection, verification cadence, or where the board lives for a card that is already made. The editing options could be little bit more obvious and user facing.

I first used Guru in 2016 before my then-company deprecated it for some unknown reason. I was delighted when I joined my current company in 2023 and found a super well-maintained Guru knowledge base that showed plenty of UX improvements from over the years. I love it!

Pros

I love that Guru puts my company's knowledge base at my fingertips. The chrome extension, in particular, is fantastic and allows me to quickly search the knowledge base and get full access to the "card" right in my browser and in-context.

Cons

I don't have any complaints, though I'm just a consumer of the knowledge base and don't have any experience managing the content.

I love the ease of use, how quickly it can be opened and deployed, and how I can look up anything about one of our banks or processors without even leaving my current webpage or tab.

Cons

Sometimes it is a pain when I'm on a webpage where I need to enter a lot of data and need to use a Guru card for a guide or reference and the Guru card blocks my view

I've talked to our head of enablement and she's a big fan. It's not as powerful as a Seismic or ThoughSpot, but not sure if that's really an apple to apple comparison. If you need a better way to organize sales material, important internal employee info, (i.e. equity FAQs, or ERG information, etc.) than this is much more seamless and easily searchable way for your team. It will save them time vs. going down the rabbit hole in DRive, Dropbox or Box.

Pros

We use Guru from everything to HR, Finance and Sales. The "cards" are easy to set-up, they're time-stamped so you know they're up to date, and you can give a set of people admin access to make updates. For everyone else, they can leave comments and make suggestions so your data stays fresh and can be crowdsourced. I personally love the Chrome plug in, the search in Guru is really good and I rarely have trouble finding a card for whatever I'm searching for. One thing I also like is you can download the card content to PDF< this comes in handy when the content is customer facing, just 1-click and fire it out off in an email or copy the content and paste.

Cons

Like anything, the cards can get a bit out of control, it can be hard to update and integrations are limited. It's still much easier and simpler UI than just creating a bunch of folders in Drive. I personally like it much more than Concur as well.
