### "Plooto is a simple AP and AR tool that also makes it easy to pay across borders."

March 20, 2018

4.0

I mostly used it for AR purposes across the U.S. and Canadian border.

Pros

It's simple, and that point needs to be kept in mind. The interface is intuitive and it syncs with popular accounting programs like QuickBooks Online. The best part of the program (in my opinion) is the AR function that allows you to set up a recurring ACH payment from clients for a flat fee. Depending on the size of your invoice this could save you some money in credit card or bank processing fees. Also, you can do ACH payment from a U.S. bank and deposit the funds in a Canadian bank account. It is a pretty cool feature that puts them above Bill.com. It also doesn't carry the monthly fee of Bill.com.

Cons

It takes way too long to send money across borders. My experience is with the Canadian/U.S. border. It took nearly two weeks from the time that the client authorized the payment until it was deposited in my account. Also, if you are using Plooto for a foreign currency exchange service much better rates can be found elsewhere. If you are using Plooto instead of Bill.com and need all of the permissions or invoice scanning functionality, don't expect it. However, if you want a simple AP and AR tool with an added bonus of being able to make and receive payments across borders, and you aren't time crunched to make or receive a payment, then Plooto is a great inexpensive option.

### "It's alright, the integration with Xero is a bit iffy."

December 8, 2020

4.0

It's alright. Not great. Not bad. Nothing to write home about.

Pros

It's affordability and versatility. The ability to have people on ACH subscriptions is a large plus

Cons

No option to accept credit cards. The rigidness of the PAD form and not allowing us access to the PAD form in the event that we want to move to a different platform. Not easy to add new vendors without adding an inconvenience to them.

Alternatives considered

[Stripe](https://www.capterra.com/p/123889/Stripe/)

Reason for choosing Plooto

The price compared to Stripe is nicer. The subscription with ACH through using a PAD form put Veem out of the running.

### "It appears to have it all until you use it."

December 17, 2018

1.0

Not Good. Really ambitious to make it work I like the concept but they make it very hard to be a client.

Pros

I like that it can process both bank or credit card payments for receivables. It can provide automation too but unfortunately it didn't work for me. I like the price. And I like that it linked into xero. It appears to have it all until you use it.

Cons

1) Its not easy to use, no introduction. 2) the automation component never worked for me I know I had to get PAD on but I wanted it on for some clients off for others and this was not an easy thing to set. It also doesn't allow me to store the credit card something like Quickbooks online I had in mind but this is a complete oversight to the program. I guess if automation actually worked then this could solve this issue. 3) Ya I was very confused but when my clients couldn't figure it out either, some ended up with duplicate payments pulled from their accounts etc. No help to fix very embarrassing. 4) their live chat is not live. You ask a question and wait. Fine to get started but even in the middle of conversation to deal with issues they just disappear. The conversation is not live. Sometimes they don't even read my questions which makes me think not a real person is helping me. 5) Money holding ridiculous! If a client due date on invoice was 30 days and they paid me next day I had to wait until what my invoice said for due date on payment. Plus when money drops into my account there is no PLOOTO ID on the deposit. Very confusing for trying to reconcile. 6) Plooto reconciled in Xero in its own little account but doesn't reconcile with the bank account. Weird and confusing.

### "Great financial software for small and mid-sized organizations"

December 14, 2020

5.0

We use the software for payment of invoices including external vendors, staff reimbursements, and payroll. Works perfectly for us. Just a few clicks and there are adequate checks and balances features to ensure accountability and security.

Pros

As a small association, with few vendors and accounts payable/receivable, the software works very well for us. While I'm sure it can also be used for larger organizations and may have lots of advanced functions, the core user interface, notifications, integrations and other features are perfect for our smaller organizations. No unnecessary complications.

Cons

I suppose if anything, if you need to reverse a payment already in process it can be a bit of a challenge but have only experienced that once.

Reason for choosing Plooto

Again, no additional products explored. We opted for Plooto over Telpay mainly for cost savings and have been pleased with the product ever since.

Switched from

[TelPay for Business](https://www.capterra.com/p/106811/TelPay-for-Business/)

Simplify user experience and reduce costs. We don't process enough payments to justify the Telpay monthly costs.

### "Great system for small businesses and non-profits."

December 14, 2020

4.0

Overall its a great system and we have moved the majority of our clients over to it. There are some limitations but they just require a work around.

Pros

It is great for tracking the approval process for payments and providing an alternative method of payment for invoices.

Cons

Customer service has been a struggle for us. It is hard to get in touch with someone when we have questions or concerns. It would be nice if there was a way to receive approval for payment but to submit the payment offline. Sometimes payments need to be submitted by credit card or paper check and we cannot use the system for tracking approval for those.

Switched from

[BILL Accounts Payable & Receivable](https://www.capterra.com/p/166559/BILL/)

Bill.com increased their rates significantly and we needed another option for our clients.

### "Value for your money"

March 2, 2022

5.0

I cannot complain! I like it!

Pros

We enjoy the low cost associated with Plooto. As a private preschool we have a lot of transactions per month, fees matter to us. Using Plooto is easy to use and gives us peace of mind we aren’t spending a fortune.

Cons

I can’t say I have enough experience with all its features to list any cons at this point.

### "Plooto is great for the needs of small businesses"

December 17, 2020

5.0

Pros

Plooto is an affordable, easy to use software to manager your payables and receivables. It delivers the checks and balances needed for approval requirements and division of duties/responsibilities and provides built in reminders and notifications on outstanding and completed payments.

Cons

It does not connect well with accounting software such as Quickbooks in that awaiting approvals are indicated as paid when in transit.

great, their customer support is reliable as well and i find the software very reliable in payment processing

Pros

it is very cheap for its worth i think and it is very easy to the eyes

Cons

they can improve their reports i think, and also i do not like the limit on batch approval that gives approver only 10 lines to approve at a time

### "Plooto Experience"

December 17, 2020

4.0

It's a very streamlined and convenient way of tracking and paying our vendors

Pros

It's very useful that our Quickbooks Accounts Payable is synched with Plooto because it makes paying our vendors very easy. The way it aggregates multiple payments to a single vendor to reduce charges is also a nice feature

Cons

I preferred their previous model where you only paid when you made a transfer. However, we are now doing enough monthly transfers that the fixed cost is about the same

### "The cheapest tool to get your invoices paid."

December 14, 2020

5.0

Pros

I've been using Plooto for a little under a year now and it is incredible, it sync's directly with quickbooks and allows me to get my domestic invoices paid for under a 1$ per transaction! The flat-rate fee is a game-changer for me, and means I don't have to pay Stripe's 2.9% transaction fee every time.

Cons

Two downsides: - With QuickBooks recurring transactions, you can't sync a recurring transaction with a recurring receivable in QuickBooks so Plooto marks each recurring transaction as paid, you have to do this manually. - Payment times can be anywhere from 3 - 7 days which is a little slow. Stripe offers instant payout which is a game changer. If Plooto could also offer instant payout for a flat rate that would make this software god-tier.

Fairly good. I would recommend it.

Pros

The integration with QuickBooks Online is good - it is current and shows me bills have be paid that same day as the order goes in. I

Cons

Missing bill payments. Missing an integration to show that my recurring monthly Receivable payments are paid in QBO.

Reason for choosing Plooto

My experience with Plooto has been good. Like how they have both Payables and Receivables.

Pros

the ease of syncing invoices from Xero to plooto Like that Plooto now issue cheque to our vendors that does not want to provide their banking info

### "Plooto - easy, enjoyable - pay and get paid!"

May 6, 2021

5.0

I have not much used the back end of this product - but as a front end user it's been fantastic.

Pros

Love how easy it was to set up to receive a payment. It only took a couple of minutes, and I appreciate the confirmation deposit that is made to make sure the funds are going to the right account!

Cons

I'm not sure of the downside to Plooto. There's a small hassle of getting it set up with your bank account, so it's a little more work than an electronic funds transfer, but it's a small price to pay to make sure everything is going to the right place.

### "Plooto is easy to use!"

February 15, 2022

5.0

The overall experience has been great. When I have reached out to support my issues have always been resolved, although it may take a day or 2 to get a reply. Improvment on the customer service would be nice.

Pros

I like how easy it is to set up clients and send payments. Especially international payables and receivables. The company \[SENSITIVE CONTENT\] likes how I can enter all the accounts payable and he can simply approve the payment. Saves him a considerable amount of time and work.

Cons

The payments take longer than the average EFT or wire. It may take up to a week for the money to be completely transferred.

### "Plooto Bill Payments"

December 17, 2020

3.0

Relatively good, but as I said earlier, reconciling is a nightmare, there is no real way to see what is happening in the back end.

Pros

I really like that I can set up approval tiers, I also appreciate that once it is set up it is relatively easy for my clients to use.

Cons

The reporting features are pretty much non existent and reconciling can be a nightmare if using Plooto Instant especially with my high volume clients. I also don't think that you should charge a subscription fee, especially if the client is doing high volumes as some of my clients do. There is also no partner program or incentives for accounting professionals who recommend and implement it to our clients.

Reason for choosing Plooto

I use both Plooto and Veem depending on my client , this is because of the cost mainly.

### "Very effective to manage account payables remotely"

December 10, 2020

4.0

It’s been great and they keep improving their capabilities.

Pros

We are virtual bookkeepers and Plooto allows us to manage our clients AP remotely. We schedule bill payments and our clients ta release payments by emails sent by Plooto after we scheduled the payments. It’s fantastic!

Cons

Amount of days to get the money processed and deposited to your suppliers bank account can be long (4-5 days). Cannot make payment to credit card accounts.

### "Hook and Sinker"

December 14, 2020

5.0

Customer service is non-existent. I was told that we could have the old pricing structure for the holding companies, never did it. Falling on death ears. Getting overcharged each month...

Pros

I like the integration with QBO, nice and easy.

Cons

We signed up for this software early on, just like QBO (7-8 years ago). QBO granfathered us in, Plooto just jacked up the prices with no alternatives. Very underhanded and not fair. When I have more time I will be looking at alternatives for just that one reason.

### "Great for paying multiple parties at one time."

December 17, 2020

5.0

Payments made to subcontractors and easily processed. I would like to see a quicker turnaround time for the money to hit the recipients accounts (and not require a separate "instant" account).

Pros

This software makes it easy to pay multiple parties at one time. The integration with QBO makes this easy and only takes a few clicks to process payments.

Cons

Banking reconciliation needs to be improved to support QBO. The fees often hit wrong chart of accounts and requires manual adjustments on occasions.

### "I saved hours of work and thousands of dollars using plooto"

February 12, 2020

5.0

Overall I'm very happy with Plooto, will continue to use it and encourage other business to use it.

Pros

It's way cheaper than credit card fees and saves time over cashing cheques.

Cons

Some payment changes can take a little longer than I feel they should. I tried to cancel a payment that was to be debited later that day. It still went through because it was too short notice.

Alternatives considered

### "Transformative to your cloud accounting workflow"

December 8, 2020

4.0

Pros

\- integration with Xero and QBO means no need to enter data into accounting and payment systems separately. This saves time and increases accuracy. - ease of use; the interface is simple and well designed to navigate through. - reasonably priced compared to others given the feature set.

Cons

\- getting clients to accept PADs has been painful. I wish we could have a demo account where we could see the client view, and run through the entire workflow internally to refine the training and communication we provide to clients upfront to make their experience better. We had a couple of clients who just didn't want to use it because they had to provide bank details or have access to their bank card right there and then (most clients were fine though).

### "Plooto Review"

February 12, 2020

4.0

While not perfect, Plooto has been great for us to help clients manage their A/P at scale at fees that are lower than the banks charge.

Pros

I like that it is easy to use, integrates with our accounting system, and allows us to manage A/P for clients at scale without using cheques.

Cons

The 4-day turnaround time to settle payments is the biggest pain-point. The new fixed-fee monthly pricing model is inconsistent with how users are actually transacting on the platform, the previous model was much easier to explain to clients. Customer service is a bit slow and we've been charged incorrectly multiple times, which takes them several weeks to resolve for each one.

Reason for choosing Plooto

Better pricing than bank and accounting software integration.

### "Review on functionality"

December 8, 2020

4.0

Overall, it's the software I would recommend to small business owners since it's much cheaper than other products I've used and saves a lot of time for users and can be easily accessible by users from anywhere.

Pros

I like using Plooto, it's much more automated and inexpensive compared to other products that require a bit of manual adjustments. I love how it automatically records into quickbooks on the day of the transaction so there isn't a disrepancy when I look at the AP & AR.

Cons

As an accountant, there is a manual aspect with foreign currencies since Plooto does not want to deal with foreign currencies which is a bit of a headache. There is a limit for the amount that you can send. However, with an approval system internally it should allow business to send more than 20K.

Reason for choosing Plooto

Plooto is much more of a timesaver
