Plugins

Based on 377 reviews
Users appreciate WooCommerce's seamless integration with WordPress and the wide variety of third-party plugins available. They find the platform highly flexible and customizable, allowing them to add numerous features and functionalities to their online stores. Additionally, the availability of both free and premium plugins makes it a cost-effective solution for many small businesses and startups.

Online store creation

Based on 234 reviews

Users find WooCommerce to be a cost-effective and user-friendly solution for creating online stores. They appreciate the extensive customization options and the variety of themes available, which allow them to tailor their stores to specific business needs. Moreover, the platform's scalability and ease of use make it suitable for both small home-based businesses and larger enterprises.

Pros

  • This solution is highly customizable in comparison to other SaaS solution, easy to get and installgreat community to ask for help, many extensions to improve its capabilities.

  • The best of WooCommerce is it helps me to see my insight quarterly, monthly, or even yearly. Also, WooCommerce allows me to send a note to my customer with order notification best feature.

  • The fact that it is free is the biggest advantage it has over other applications. It helps small companies look like big Enterprises.

  • And you have a lot of complementary plugins that works perfectly. You can have a really nice E-commerce website thanks to WooCommerce.

Cons

  • WooCommerce has so many external extensions that are poorly coded, with so much bloats. This sometimes break your site may cause it to crash.

  • The only thing I dislike about WooCommerce is that it does not seem possible to add multiple images to a product listing. Of, if this option is available, it's not intuitive.

  • The worst is when a update happens and then you have to go and find out all the issues that were caused and have to go back and figure out how to fix them.

  • The setup process is really confusing and clunky, and those new to WordPress etc will certainly struggle.

"Arguably the best eCommerce platform for beginners"

Pros: I love two things about Woocommerce the most. One is how easy it is to use. Unlike Shopify, a complete beginner can set up an e-commerce website rather quickly and without problems. The second thing is the community. So many people are using woocommerce, so if you ever face a challenge, there is already a fix online.

Cons: The fact that you need a plugin for every single custom thing you want. I'm still building a woocommerce site and I already have like 20 plugins, because some basic options are missing from the default WooCommerce.

Alternatives Considered: Shopify
Reasons for Choosing WooCommerce: Shopify was too complicated for our abilities.
Reasons for Switching to WooCommerce: Shopiko's customization options were lacking.

"Good if you have wordpress and time to fine tuning "

Overall: The overall experience is good, we managed to do a really good looking store with top features at a really low cost and full customizable

Pros: Is really easy to install, integrate really well with wordpress and lot of plugins available

Cons: It could get slow as wordpress is heavy and this add more load, but if you are smart doing layers of caching you should be ok

Switched From: Shopify
Reasons for Switching to WooCommerce: Cost and the price of the needed customizations , wordpress has a lot more options

"Freemium ecommerce that racks up quickly."

Overall: For simple ecommerce setups, WooCommerce is smooth and easy to use. Again, if you have any sort of custom (even conventional) shipping, coupons, or store setups, you're stuck paying for extras that add up pretty quickly.

Pros: For the most basic of ecommerce setups, you can't beat free for Woocommerce. It's made by the same people that make WordPress, so it integrates very smoothly.

Cons: If you want to do anything of any complexity at all, you're stuck either writing a bunch of code yourself or paying yearly fees on their plugins.

Alternatives Considered: Shopify
Reasons for Choosing WooCommerce: Woocommerce itself is free and works within the confines of your own site, while Shopify forces you into its infrastructure, for better or worse.

"A good platform but I would pick a cloud solution."

Overall: I've been managing a WooCommerce store for a major outdoors venue in Italy handling subscriptions and event bookings for the last 5 years. During the load-heavy season a one-server LEMP stack is not enough and I highly recommend to switch to a separate database server. For smaller projects and on a tight budget I would recommend WooCommerce.

Pros: Very good for starters. On a more advanced level it offers you great flexibility and customization options but you need development skills.

Cons: If you do not perform proper server optimization it could be very heavy to handle.

"Best open source platform with over 60,000 plugins"

Overall: It is far easier to use out of the box while still allowing control and customization than any other platform.

Pros: Legible code, easy to understand and customize

Cons: Frequent updates forcing constant development of customized code to ensure compatibility. To be fair, this is largely due to outside influences like hackers and cyber crooks targeting wordpress as a whole.

Alternatives Considered: Magento Marketplace, Joomla and Shopify
Reasons for Choosing WooCommerce: Ability to control the core code and make changes as needed.
