Cons Websites with a lot of products can experience site speed issues, however, this sometimes can be dependent on the hosting environment. With the website creation I prefer to use a builder like emlementor with Woo which gives me really consistent pages across the website. Pros You can cut down on all the most costs by using woocommerce compared to shopify. Great for business now starting off or even if only they have a few products to sell. Cons The setup process and integrations / apps are not as easy as Shopify to setup which leads to more development costs upfront. I have seen it grown for many years. In comparison to Magento and others, Woocommerce is the best. Some of the other open source products break things after updates and one would have to rush to fix everything but Woocommerce is stable for the most part. Updates rarely break things if you have considered stable plugins and eco system. For a business, at the end of the day, they want their store up and running with lots of orders incoming. Woocommerce delivers that! Pros I like the fact that it is open source and how it let's developers customise the product to any extent. With WordPress as a core, actions and filters, it can be customised to any business needs. I've worked with tens of businesses that have massive product catalogue and it never lets me down. Cons Woocommerce has the biggest market share in the world. Despite that, it lacks a basic native feature of inventory logging. Over the past 5 years,, I have been doing the same for clients, including SEO and online marketing of the Woocommerce stores. Pros The basic Woocommerce platform delivers all the features needed to run a successful e-commerce shop for most industries or niche services. The thousands of specialist plugins that expand on this basic platform make it suitable for any specialisation you can think of. On top of it all, the platform is free and most plugins have a free tier that is sufficient for most situations. All you need to add is hosting, a domain, some WordPress knowledge and time and you can build a powerful ecommmerce store withouot the high monthly rates of competing platforms. Cons You need to invest some time in learning the basics of the platform if you want to build you own store. SHopify is a powerful platform but can quickly become very expensive to run, especially when adding extensions. This is especially penalising in the setup hases of the store before the turnover can take care of the platform costs.
