### "Plug and Play and Get Paid"

April 3, 2026

5.0

I am please with being able to have an ecommerce store that works so I can concentrate on marketing and new product development.

Pros

Not only is it free to set up, but the fact that I was able to easlity create an ecommerce site to sell my products in literally in hours was great. The multiple payment options and integration with my bank and paypal allowed me to receive funds quickly. Adding products and chaging pricing - also easy to use.

Cons

Seems I am always updating the plug-in, and I worry about security. (Although it hasn't been an issue). If I was not super savvy on web design/Wordpress, I might have found it difficult to set up.

### "A Highly Customizable Ecommerce Solution for WordPress"

January 26, 2026

5.0

Overall, WooCommerce has been an excellent ecommerce platform for our business. We use it as the core ecommerce engine for two websites and it has allowed us to customize nearly every part of the store experience, from checkout and shipping rules to product logic and customer flows. We primarily use WooCommerce-developed extensions when possible, but we’ve also had strong results with reputable third-party plugins. If you want a flexible platform that can scale with your needs, WooCommerce has been a great fit.

Pros

We love how easy WooCommerce is to set up and manage, while still offering a high level of flexibility and customization. It integrates well with WordPress, and the plugin ecosystem is huge and there’s a solution for almost every use case. We’ve been able to tailor several WooCommerce plugins to match our exact business needs, and overall the platform has been very reliable. WooCommerce support has also been great whenever we’ve needed help.

Cons

The biggest downside is plugin management, especially when you run a larger store with a lot of extensions. Keeping track of plugin subscriptions, renewals, and which account they’re tied to can get confusing over time. We’ve occasionally had to reach out to support to merge or clean up subscriptions, but support has always been responsive and helpful.

We switched from Shopify because we needed more flexibility to support complex product configurations and workflows. At the time, Shopify couldn’t accommodate several of our requirements without heavy workarounds, and it became a bottleneck as we scaled. WooCommerce gave us the customization and control we needed.

### "If you are just starting out or need Wordpress, woo commerce is your main option, otherwise if you can move to something better"

February 4, 2026

3.0

I needed to use woo commerce but it's an old platform that even if has been made "modern looking" it is still too clunky.

Pros

It is free, easy to setup (at least at the beginning) and you can start getting payment right away with a plethora of payment gateways

Cons

It is very hard to customize or adapt to your own business model. A simple thing like removing some fields from the checkout can be a painful process even with plugins

### "WOO WHO WOo"

March 18, 2026

5.0

We might have preferred a nicer look to the product listing but this works. We have never had a glitch and enjoy the simplicity of the program

Pros

They do a great job of keeping the software updated and installed properly. Fee structure is in line with other software and often less in that there is no per transaction fee. Setup was easy, making new products or variants is also really easy.

Cons

Freight setup is complicated but this isn’t really a problem of WOO, freight is complicated. We use a third party for freight pricing. The store adds the freight but we don’t actually use WOO for freight.

### "Great free plugin and easy to use once set up."

February 2, 2026

5.0

I enjoy working with it. While it takes a bit to learn, at times it's absolutely worth the time to learn once you have the hang of it.

Pros

WooCommerce made it easy to set up our online store, update products, offer different versions of products, and accept different payment types. Any issues we encountered have always been swiftly corrected. The core plugin is free, so the value is in it from the start.

Cons

Learning to set up products isn't entirely user-friendly, and takes a bit of effort to understand all the different components to it.

### "Great For ECommerce"

January 12, 2026

WooCommerce is our go-to platform for ecommerce. It's compatible with a ton of plugins and there are always addons that we incorporate.

Pros

WooCommerce is an easy to use platform for ecommerce. It has a lot of plugin options and is user friendly.

Cons

While it's easy to use for a website agency, it's not as easy for clients who want to manage their own websites.

### "Good but Easy to get in over your head Quickly. "

August 22, 2025

3.0

I have set up dozen's of business's WooCommerce sites, from very basic items, to complicated setups and subscription based sites.

Pros

WooCommerce opens up the options for selling items on your WordPress website. It's a great free platform for starting a new online shop, and their payment options allow you accept the most popular payment methods online. The one aspect that WooCommerce outshines Shopify on is SEO and that's primarily because of WordPress.

Cons

WooCommerce can get complicated really fast. From variable product types, to subscriptions, every layer of customization beyond the basic shop settings will lead you to having to purchase a WooCommerce add-on. By the time you purchase the add-ons you need, you're looking at the same cost as running a shopify shop.

### "Fantastic app to take your business to another heights"

April 10, 2026

5.0

Pros

What I like most about WooCommerce is how it makes it easy for non-tech people to use it and to actually take their business online. I personally used WooCommerce with my WordPress website and it was flawless. Happy to recommend using WooCommerce to run their business online.

Cons

Honestly, there's nothing I like least about Woocommerce. The purpose of their app was met. They made it very easy for taking anyone's business online, no matter if they're a tech-nerd or not.

I wish I had never been introduced to WooCommerce. I wish I had listened to my mentor and spent the money on a better product rather than be cheap like I was. I lost so many hours of my life using WooCommerce.

Pros

Cons

### "I love WooCommerce!"

August 5, 2024

5.0

I love using WooCommerce. It's the best store platform I've used for a long time. It's easy to customise it for what I need and integrates with a lot of other platforms and payment providers to make selling easy. There's a lot of plugin options that range from free to paid to cover what you want to offer all in one place. The app also makes it easy to track sales and update customers on dispatch and posting details etc. Overall I'd 100% recommend WooCommerce.

Pros

Love how easy it is to set up and how many different plugins you can get to customise it exactly how you need it.

Cons

There is a bit of a learning curve but there are also plenty of how to walkthroughs online to make using it easier.

Alternatives considered

[Shopify](https://www.capterra.com/p/83891/Shopify/)

Reason for choosing WooCommerce

I decided not to go with Shopify because, while it was easier to set up and use straight away, there was a monthly fee to pay from the beginning and I wasn't sure how much I'd use it. I also needed to move my main website and wordpress with WooCommerce allowed me the flexibility to set up my site and have different plugins depending on what I needed from my site. I also wasn't sure how popular my online store would be and not having to pay a monthly fee with WooCommerce was a more attractive option.

Switched from

[Squarespace](https://www.capterra.com/p/143461/Squarespace/)

The pricing for Squarespace kept going up while the features stayed largely the same. I made the decision to switch to wordpress for my site and so installing WooCommerce was a no brainer. The functionality and customisation options are fantastic, especially for the price when most of the things you need to get started are free.

### "Great Ecommerce Tool"

August 5, 2024

5.0

I love WooCommerce. I use it to build my Ecommerce website and those of my clients. Processing sales, marketing using coupons and it’s integration to many email marketing software makes it even amazing.

Pros

I love how seemless it is to use WooCommerce with WordPress. It’s easier to use it to collect payment and easy to use.

Cons

The only cons I have is that you need to buy some more tools if you need to use some advance features but most of those features are just addons.

### "An "easy and free" ecommerce solution"

August 7, 2024

4.0

Generally positive, except in complex projects which require an ecommerce CMS instead of just a plug-in

Pros

Its a fast and free solution to launch an ecommerce, it has a great community and a lot of 3rd party integrations. It is based on Wordpress so should not have a great learning phase.

Cons

Like any module based system, some basic functionalities require a 3rd party module, and it can be expensive if the project has several requirements. Also, if you need to fully customize your store, this might not be your best option.

### "WooCommerce to sell"

June 28, 2024

5.0

Pros

WooCommerce is the best way to transform your WordPress website into a powerful online shop. Setting up the plugin is easy and straightforward. Items management is easy and intuitive. The most important thing at WooCommerce is the compatibility with all wordpress plugins. Increase security, increase website loading speed and the most important SEO.

Cons

A good webhosting (usually more expensive) is needed for a fluid experience.

October 16, 2025

5.0

It's been great for stores when people purchased on computer but not now. My experience has been disappointing when facing account and email template purchase issues.

Pros

An important point is that it is so easy to use and that anyone can use it and integrate it on their site to manage orders. WooCommerce is the best WordPress plugin for getting transactions.

Cons

I don't think WordPress and WooCommerce are suitable for mobile, because today's generation does everything on mobile devices.

### "A good platform but I would pick a cloud solution."

October 10, 2024

4.0

I've been managing a WooCommerce store for a major outdoors venue in Italy handling subscriptions and event bookings for the last 5 years. During the load-heavy season a one-server LEMP stack is not enough and I highly recommend to switch to a separate database server. For smaller projects and on a tight budget I would recommend WooCommerce.

Pros

Very good for starters. On a more advanced level it offers you great flexibility and customization options but you need development skills.

Cons

If you do not perform proper server optimization it could be very heavy to handle.

### "WooCommerce User review"

June 11, 2024

4.0

Overall, Woo Commerce is an amazing platform and a very reliable choice in the e-commerce space. One of it's advantage as a popular system is that it has a large and active community of users and developers that can easily provide knowledge and support.

Pros

I would say that Woo Commerce is very cost effective which is ideal for small and medium business like our company. The order and customer accounts management system is efficient and runs very smoothly.

Cons

At first glance, the user interface a looks a bit archaic and complicated at the same time. I supposed the design of the UI can still be improved. The required regular updates to maintain security and compatibility is helpful but at the same time affects our productivity negatively.
