### "The best (and only) truly free ecommerce plugin"

June 30, 2026

5.0

Whether you have a web development background or not, WooCommerce can be a great place to start selling if you have an existing WordPress website.

Pros

It's overall the best bang for the buck ecommerce Software available. It allows more technical users to be able to customize it using code, as well as less technical users to add on features through the WordPress plugin repository.

Cons

Websites with a lot of products can experience site speed issues, however, this sometimes can be dependent on the hosting environment. Integration with 3rd party shipping platforms can sometimes be difficult.

Reason for choosing WooCommerce

### "Plug and Play and Get Paid"

April 3, 2026

5.0

I am please with being able to have an ecommerce store that works so I can concentrate on marketing and new product development.

Pros

Not only is it free to set up, but the fact that I was able to easlity create an ecommerce site to sell my products in literally in hours was great. The multiple payment options and integration with my bank and paypal allowed me to receive funds quickly. Adding products and chaging pricing - also easy to use.

Cons

Seems I am always updating the plug-in, and I worry about security. (Although it hasn't been an issue). If I was not super savvy on web design/Wordpress, I might have found it difficult to set up.

### "Ehh, looking for better"

June 23, 2026

3.0

Ehhhh… it’s not special. It’s fairly simple to use, and there are plenty of upgrades that make it more usable - and costly.

Pros

It’s a basic plugin that allows simple commerce via transactions in limited platforms, doing what it claims to do.

Cons

Limited options for connecting platforms for payment methods, and missing some that are important for many clients.

### "WOO WHO WOo"

March 18, 2026

5.0

We might have preferred a nicer look to the product listing but this works. We have never had a glitch and enjoy the simplicity of the program

Pros

They do a great job of keeping the software updated and installed properly. Fee structure is in line with other software and often less in that there is no per transaction fee. Setup was easy, making new products or variants is also really easy.

Cons

Freight setup is complicated but this isn’t really a problem of WOO, freight is complicated. We use a third party for freight pricing. The store adds the freight but we don’t actually use WOO for freight.

Pricing was the basis but once we changed we discovered ease of use was significantly better

### "A Highly Customizable Ecommerce Solution for WordPress"

January 26, 2026

5.0

Overall, WooCommerce has been an excellent ecommerce platform for our business. We use it as the core ecommerce engine for two websites and it has allowed us to customize nearly every part of the store experience, from checkout and shipping rules to product logic and customer flows. We primarily use WooCommerce-developed extensions when possible, but we’ve also had strong results with reputable third-party plugins. If you want a flexible platform that can scale with your needs, WooCommerce has been a great fit.

Pros

We love how easy WooCommerce is to set up and manage, while still offering a high level of flexibility and customization. It integrates well with WordPress, and the plugin ecosystem is huge and there’s a solution for almost every use case. We’ve been able to tailor several WooCommerce plugins to match our exact business needs, and overall the platform has been very reliable. WooCommerce support has also been great whenever we’ve needed help.

Cons

The biggest downside is plugin management, especially when you run a larger store with a lot of extensions. Keeping track of plugin subscriptions, renewals, and which account they’re tied to can get confusing over time. We’ve occasionally had to reach out to support to merge or clean up subscriptions, but support has always been responsive and helpful.

Switched from

[Shopify](https://www.capterra.com/p/83891/Shopify/)

We switched from Shopify because we needed more flexibility to support complex product configurations and workflows. At the time, Shopify couldn’t accommodate several of our requirements without heavy workarounds, and it became a bottleneck as we scaled. WooCommerce gave us the customization and control we needed.

### "If you are just starting out or need Wordpress, woo commerce is your main option, otherwise if you can move to something better"

February 4, 2026

3.0

I needed to use woo commerce but it's an old platform that even if has been made "modern looking" it is still too clunky.

Pros

It is free, easy to setup (at least at the beginning) and you can start getting payment right away with a plethora of payment gateways

Cons

It is very hard to customize or adapt to your own business model. A simple thing like removing some fields from the checkout can be a painful process even with plugins

### "Great For ECommerce"

January 12, 2026

WooCommerce is our go-to platform for ecommerce. It's compatible with a ton of plugins and there are always addons that we incorporate.

Pros

WooCommerce is an easy to use platform for ecommerce. It has a lot of plugin options and is user friendly.

Cons

While it's easy to use for a website agency, it's not as easy for clients who want to manage their own websites.

### "Very adaptable, especially for small business requirements."

July 31, 2026

5.0

WooCommerce is a fantastic value for money and is particularly beneficial for a small business to establish an ecommerce platform without incurring large amounts at the outset. It's not flawless there's certainly a learning curve when it comes to more advanced things, but it's scalable and flexible to make up for it. When we have needed it, customer support has been responsive, which is reassuring when there are tight deadlines.

Pros

WooCommerce customization is incredibly flexibly to customize the mode to the particular enterprise needs. As a Software Engineer, I've enjoyed the ease of integration of plugins, or the ability to alter existing plugins to meet client requirements. The variety of payment gateway plugins we've experienced includes virtually every payment gateway we've encountered, and being WordPress enabled, it was very easy for us to create a website despite being a small team.

Cons

It can sometimes be a process of trial and error to set up advanced features. Sometimes, more technical details are not documented clearly, thus taking additional time to troubleshoot or look up forums. I also want, the email notification system for order updates to be more flexible to customize, it requires more code than the advanced platform should require.

### "WordPress: Cool But Why So Hard?"

July 14, 2026

4.0

It's basically the LEGO of the internet. It is awesome if you want to build a giant castle from scratch, but it really hurts when you step on a piece. Use it if you want total control; skip it if you cry easily when looking at computer screens.

Pros

You can build literally anything. Want a store that only sells left-handed socks? Easy. There are a billion free plugins to do whatever you want, and you actually own your website instead of renting it from a robot landlord.

Cons

It’s super easy to break. If you click "update" on the wrong day, your whole website might just explode into error codes. Also, you have to buy your own hosting and handle security, which is a giant headache if you don't know tech stuff.

### "Customization makes perfect. But templates are also great."

June 16, 2026

4.0

Pros

Very decent starting off point and the customizability is the best in class. Payment systems from around the world can be integrated.

Cons

Using templates as is and customizing heavily is sound, but anything in the middle -- not so much. So you have to decide if you want to customize at all because customization breaks templates and needs a lot of attention to fix.

### "Using WooCommerce to sell courses"

December 27, 2024

5.0

I used WooCommerce to sell in-person courses and tickets to events. I also had a small selection of merchandise on the platform. It served a purpose and my clients found it simple to use.

Pros

I simple, clean interface and a variety of display options for my shop.

Cons

You can't link to calendars in the same way you can a booking system.

### "Good product but more free features needed"

January 18, 2024

3.0

It's done the job but hopefully a better competitor arrives on the scene which will include more features for a fraction of the price (price includes for features not included for free).

Pros

The integration with Wordpress which is what we use for CMS. It's quite simple once setup, and allows a smooth customer journey from entering the store to purchasing.

Cons

The issues from updates; always have to backup (good procedure anyway) as well as the security bloatware required in order to setup/use WooCommerce.

### "Woocommerce gives you seamless integration with Wordpress and an excellent ecom experience"

April 22, 2025

5.0

Overall Woocommerce is a very robust versatile ecommerce addon to Wordpress that can transform your site while giving you full control over the ecom experience. If you want to host and do your own sales without 3rd party shop sites then this is the way to go.

Pros

If you are on the Wordpress platform then Woocommerce is the best, most polished ecommerce addon you can use for your website. Woocommerce works well within Wordpress integrating seamlessly and has great ongoing development and community support.

Cons

Depending on which payment merchants you may use you may occasionally get glitches and issues with Order statuses. This isn't anything major but does introduce more manual adjustments required.

### "A solution that works for multiple scenarios"

February 4, 2025

5.0

I've used WooCommerce on most eCommerces I've worked with, recently on a client website we also got in contact in the support team that was amazing. They helped us with optimizing the website, chosing the right plugins and extensions, chosing the right hosting plan...

Pros

It's flexible and fits multiple needs and top customer care

Cons

It can get overwhelming due to the vast amount of extensions so without expertise or support it can be difficult to deploy in non-standard scenarios

I really like WooCommerce because it offers me a complete solution for eCommerce. Also, Woo helps a lot in managing the orders and stocks.

Pros

Importing products is easy and the options are limitless. Even if it was the first time using it it was easy to install and setup. An important feature is the compatibility with the SEO plugins for WordPress, as is important to optimize for search engine each product.

Cons

There are no things I can say I like WooCommerce less. I think is the best solution for a ecommerce website.

### "Quite good software for basic shops"

October 15, 2024

4.0

As a developer, I created many shops for my clients. It is a good software for basic ecommerce needs. There are many free plugins for it, but often there is a need to buy additional subscription plugins. So it appears that it is free, but in reality it is not. So you are left with writing extensions by yourself or keep paying for extentions.

Pros

\- Basic functionality is free - Enough for most ecommerce needs - Easy to set up - Quite good documentation

Cons

\- For more advanced functions you need a lot of paid plugins - Seems a litle bit bloated

### "Highly recommended!"

July 20, 2023

5.0

The customer service and helps boards WooCommerce offers to customers are excellent! There has been quite a few times I’ve needed assistance due to unique setups and every time they have provided a solution and a speedy response.

Pros

From start to finish, WooCommerce really does have it all. Right from the moment you install. And no matter how awkward your own business setup may be, WooCommerce always has a way to accompany it.

Cons

To be honest other than the app, it’s hard to fault WooCommerce. If you are building a Wordpress website, WooCommerce is definitely the choice to go with. But again, the mobile app needs work.
