It allows more technical users to be able to customize it using code, as well as less technical users to add on features through the WordPress plugin repository. Cons Websites with a lot of products can experience site speed issues, however, this sometimes can be dependent on the hosting environment. We have never had a glitch and enjoy the simplicity of the program Pros They do a great job of keeping the software updated and installed properly. Fee structure is in line with other software and often less in that there is no per transaction fee. Setup was easy, making new products or variants is also really easy. Cons Freight setup is complicated but this isn’t really a problem of WOO, freight is complicated. We use a third party for freight pricing. The store adds the freight but we don’t actually use WOO for freight. Cons Limited options for connecting platforms for payment methods, and missing some that are important for many clients. Pros Not only is it free to set up, but the fact that I was able to easlity create an ecommerce site to sell my products in literally in hours was great. The multiple payment options and integration with my bank and paypal allowed me to receive funds quickly. Adding products and chaging pricing - also easy to use. Cons Seems I am always updating the plug-in, and I worry about security. (Although it hasn't been an issue). If I was not super savvy on web design/Wordpress, I might have found it difficult to set up. We use it as the core ecommerce engine for two websites and it has allowed us to customize nearly every part of the store experience, from checkout and shipping rules to product logic and customer flows. We primarily use WooCommerce-developed extensions when possible, but we’ve also had strong results with reputable third-party plugins. If you want a flexible platform that can scale with your needs, WooCommerce has been a great fit. Pros We love how easy WooCommerce is to set up and manage, while still offering a high level of flexibility and customization. It integrates well with WordPress, and the plugin ecosystem is huge and there’s a solution for almost every use case. We’ve been able to tailor several WooCommerce plugins to match our exact business needs, and overall the platform has been very reliable. It is awesome if you want to build a giant castle from scratch, but it really hurts when you step on a piece. Use it if you want total control; skip it if you cry easily when looking at computer screens. Pros You can build literally anything. Want a store that only sells left-handed socks? Easy. There are a billion free plugins to do whatever you want, and you actually own your website instead of renting it from a robot landlord. Cons It’s super easy to break. If you click "update" on the wrong day, your whole website might just explode into error codes. It's easy to customise it for what I need and integrates with a lot of other platforms and payment providers to make selling easy. There's a lot of plugin options that range from free to paid to cover what you want to offer all in one place. The app also makes it easy to track sales and update customers on dispatch and posting details etc. Overall I'd 100% recommend WooCommerce. I also needed to move my main website and wordpress with WooCommerce allowed me the flexibility to set up my site and have different plugins depending on what I needed from my site. I also wasn't sure how popular my online store would be and not having to pay a monthly fee with WooCommerce was a more attractive option. Pros The basic Woocommerce platform delivers all the features needed to run a successful e-commerce shop for most industries or niche services. The thousands of specialist plugins that expand on this basic platform make it suitable for any specialisation you can think of. On top of it all, the platform is free and most plugins have a free tier that is sufficient for most situations. All you need to add is hosting, a domain, some WordPress knowledge and time and you can build a powerful ecommmerce store withouot the high monthly rates of competing platforms. Cons You need to invest some time in learning the basics of the platform if you want to build you own store. During the load-heavy season a one-server LEMP stack is not enough and I highly recommend to switch to a separate database server.
