Substantially cheaper than some of the other nanny share cloud accounting services out there. Pros We have found SurePayroll very easy to use for paying our nanny and dealing with nanny taxes. Cons We have never been able to get auto-pay to work, I have to login every week to issue her stub, but all other aspects of the software have been easy to use. Reason for choosing SurePayroll Care.com HomePay and SurePayroll were the two services most friends and coworkers we knew used. Care.com HomePay is extremely expensive by comparison and didn't seem to offer any additional features. From the sales person to everyone else I have dealt with. They are all knowledgeable and helpful. Pros The ability to download reports into Excel. The flexibility of the pay periods. The watchfulness of your processors. Someone actually called me because they saw what they thought was a duplication and indeed it was. That is amazing!! Cons There could be more helpful information in several places. One example, when you are setting up a new employee in California, it would be helpful to have a note when you go to select status that says "You must use New Hire if you want us to send a form DE 34 to California". I know that may be obvious to you but when I was setting it up, all of our "new" employees have been with us for a long time but as independent contractors so I did not think of the as a new hire. I also think that you should not have to pay the $5 monthly fee if an employee is inactive. Instead you have to terminate them which makes no sense. January 15, 2020 2.0 Being a very small client with a very minimal payroll, I found the service to be a little too challenging, inflexible and expensive. Pros At first it seemed like a good decision. Transitioning from do-it-yourself payroll was a must. Cons When issues did arise, I would get "passed around" to departments that could not resolve the problem. Personnel vacations and changes seemed very frequent. Cons The security feature is annoying that I can't text anymore, I always have to be called with a password and I have not had the time to get it fixed after office hours. Pros I liked that it was easy to use. The price was nice, too. They are part of PayChex which is a much bigger company and cost a lot more to use. Cons Surepayroll made a mistake in filing withholding reports for my nanny. They acknowledged that they were at fault, but failed to correct it. I became alerted to the issue when I started receiving tax notices - 4 months after their initial mistake was made. It has now been over 2 months that I have actively been trying to get them to fix it to absolutely no avail. They are certainly affordable but you get what you pay for. The process of running a payroll is seamless and easy! Pros Easy to input payroll hours, gratuity and add other Hourly rates for my employees. I like the fact that they deduct Federal and State Taxes, as well as they provide Direct Deposit so I don't have to worry with paper checks being cut and mailed. My financial planner recommended SurePayroll and ADP. SurePayroll beat ADP on all levels...sales, pricing and customer support. So glad I chose SurePayroll as I appreciate the easy access to support; everyone knows their product and has answered my questions quickly and clearly. Pros I found the software easy to use and the support is exceptional. Cons I can't think of anything that has been a problem. I have been placed on hold a few times - and held longer than convenient, but once the tech support person came on the line, we resolved all issues. Pros Management and Payment of Employment Taxes and 1099s Cons Inability to completely void out a payroll check that was incorrectly issued, and instead I had to issue a negative amount the next week in order to make the adjustment for the end of year 1099. Cons The app does not work for us, you have to use the website to perform the weekly payroll, even though we have the default payroll set up. Thanks! Pros This has made payroll very easy for my four caregivers assisting my parents to be able to stay in their own home. (Father is 99 and Mother is 96).
