### "The Best Payroll Assistant I could ask for!"

My overall experience with SurePayroll is positive. Their software is for the most part very intuitive, and reasonably priced. Just be sure to upload any and all IRS letters you get, and reach out to them via Contact Us for any questions. They provide good support!

Pros

My enthusiasm for using SurePayroll can be summed up in 3 words: Ease of Use. Whether you are paying Salaried employees, or Hourly -SurePayroll can work with your needs! They handle the filing of 941's and any other Payroll Related taxes - and make issuing tax related documents to your employees a breeze every January! You are also sent helpful emails when there is a holiday coming up, so you know to run your payroll early! I also get emails when an employee's Birthday or Wor-aversary is approaching!

Cons

I have to say for all my years running payroll, the part I like \*least\* has to be adding a new state to your payroll. This process is going to be a pain no matter what software one uses, but I feel like there could be a more streamlined process in place. Also - I have not tried this in a while, but if you would like to pay a 1099 contractor via direct deposit, and they use a Tax ID number rather than a SS#, you are going to hit a snag.

I find them to spend most of their time on marketing new clients but neglecting to take of the clients once they have signed up for the services.

Pros

Ease of onboarding employees, even during mid-year switch. The process was pretty easy and I worked closely with staff to insure accuracy.

Cons

Their promises to pay rewards for referrals and never follow through. When I contact anyone; I always get the answer "not my dept"

Pros

SurePayroll makes payroll and managing employees a breeze! The customer support is stellar compared to other companies I have worked with, not to mention it being a great value for the money!

Cons

I like the majority of things about SurePayroll, but they are limited as to Simple IRA Roth deductions for employees.

It was pretty smooth initially, however, it seemed that withholding customization wasn't as comprehensive as in other payroll services and customer service was very difficult to get a hold of.

Pros

It was easy to set up and use, especially without prior experience in running payroll. Also, I like that they offer free trial.

Cons

I wish customer service would be more accessible and be able to provide comprehensive answers when finally getting to speak with a representative.

I am very pleased with SurePayroll because it is user friendly. The process to submitting payroll is quick and simple. SurePayroll does most of the work for me in terms of calculating taxes and evem filing quarterly taxes for me! I highly recommend SurePayroll.

Pros

It is so easy to use and there is a team dedicated to help teach you step by step what to do.

Cons

I am a fairly new business, so understanding what they take care of vs. What my responsibilities are (tax info for example), was a little confusing at first, but certainly not their fault.

Disappointing, not a full-service provider, nickel and dime you.

Pros

Low upfront rate or promo. If you refer or get a referral you can make a few $100s.

Cons

They will lure you in with a low rate or promo and then ask for additional money to do the basic tax stuff, such as issue W2s and file and pay yearend taxes. There are also several fees and add-ons they try to charge you. Their customer service agents will over-promise and tell you things that are not accurate, so then you have to deal with another agent to fix the issues.

Pros

I HATE SURE PAYROLL SERVICE COMPANY!!!! No service but Money takers. They will take your money with no better service. They have been charging the monthly service fees till April 2025, even though I called them to cancel the service last year, 2024. I changed the payroll service company to QUICKBOOKS/Intuit, the best company, with no hassle.

They promise a referral program but they dont pay, I waited the 90 days they ask and payment never came. So dont waste your time recommending them any referrals.

I have been using it for several years. We took a break when we moved and didn't have child care. It was frustrating but I came back since the functionality is easy and compared to private nanny tax companies or their competition they are priced right and I have only run into 2 issues in all these years.

Pros

They don't charge for adding or removing people. It's easy to use for paying once you set it up and I have 1 person and it's a weekly pay check.

Cons

I could not get the system to work for us when we moved. I did all the address changes with the govt and it never showed up. I had to start over when we moved to a new state. so moving was not a good experience for me. There have been a few times when payments were not paid on time to the state for quarterly taxes. When this happened, it was difficult to resolve and the support made it seem as if it was my fault not theirs. They do not help you setup your state when you move and so that in of itself was painful and kept me from setting up earlier.

Best price, easy to use the system weekly and they do not charge for adding/removing employees which with a nanny can happen more often than you would like.

I signed up with RM, who is a nice guy btw. I wanted to get set up with their payroll system and also use a time keeping product. I explained what I was looking for in a time keeping product and they referred me to their time keeping system because it could do things like have 3rd party managers approve time. I was told that by the rep, manager and then discovered a week later that I couldn't do it by their implementation team. Ok, I get it, they were wrong. I understand. They referred me to a list of their partners of about 12-15 or so. So I go through that whole list (which takes time btw) and pick one. I'm like "yay!" got one... finally fixed. Then a week later, it is discovered that they actually aren't a time keeping partner even though they referred me to them. And this was already after I spent $1k on setting up with that "partner". So, then I'm like whatever, you guys are clueless, let me think of a solution here. They offer me a free month of service for my troubles. Sweet. At this point, I just want to be able to pay people. I could go on in more detail but have to be brief because I'm running out of space, so here are my highlights...I set up payroll and guess what? like most of their software architecture it didn't work, the people didn't get paid. They were like, where's my paycheck? Same day I called Intuit Payroll and they took care of everything in one hour and got people paid! what a shit show from SurePayroll. Should be called ShitPayroll or unSurePayroll.

Pros

At first it was easy to use. But that only lasted a day. Everything on the back end of their software is crap. Bad connections. Different teams don't communicate to each other. It's a sad case. They should either try to fix it or give up in the industry. I definitely do not recommend them.

Cons

Whoever runs this company needs to re-examine EVERYTHING. From your front line reps, to your managers, to your operations, to you Customer Service Team to your engineers or IT staff that develop and maintain your SaaS product. I don't know how a company like Paychex can by SurePayroll and not make it better than what it is. People are nice but pretty much clueless and not helpful.

### "Impossible to get Customer Support or help"

Frustrating.

Pros

Before your purchase the product, they are very attentive. But after you have purchased the product, you can not get to customer service. I just purchased the service Dec 31, 2021 and haven't been trying to get support from that point. I can not not get any customer support.

Cons

When you call Customer Service - you are placed on hold forever. They say "wait time is over 30 minutes" but I was on hold for 2.5 hours, and then the line got disconnected. You call back and you're placed back in line (now "wait time of over 45 minutes"). They give you an option for them to call you back and supposedly you don't lose your place in line. After several hours, you get a call back and you are placed back in a wait line. After 1.5 hours of waiting, after they called me back, I hung up. I do this several times at different days and at different times. I tried to call the sales people that I purchased the product from. They won't call back or email me back either.

Overall, I like SurePayroll but I'm not as big a fan as I once was and not sure the people that do the setup are as knowledgeable as other PR sales staff are.

Pros

For a small business without many benefits to manage, it is a good choice and a cost effective one.

Cons

All things are not intuitive or easily explained. I've worked with Paychex (your mothership) and ADP for many years, the latter being my least favorite, Paychex being the best. But some of your changes are clunky and if you aren't used to the software you may go down the wrong road only to have all the info deleted. Example, you enter payroll and then realize you need to change something (client sends last minute email with a change) and instead of being able to 'save' and make those changes, which in my mind should be able to just update in the payroll info, you lose all your input. That doesn't make sense to me. I think users would have more success if the sales person OR a training person, for new users, had a short session that would go through some of these processes. ALSO, not all customer service people are made the same. For the most part, the people I have talked to have been helpful, but it's been a 50/50 experience. One woman I wanted to hang up on her because she did not have a good attitude. The other problem I had was when a new client was set up. An employee was missed even though the 941's & DE9C's were forwarded - my client was charged for adding that missing employee and when I asked on several occasions, HOW DID YOU BALANCE (which you couldn't have since you would use the 4 qtrs of reports) I never got an answer. I asked that the charge for corrections be shared and the fee was cut in half. In my mind this was an error on your side.

### "Better of the worse - No customer service"

I was with Gusto for one month, and came right back because as the title of my review is "Worse of the worsts."

Pros

SurePayroll has been around for a long time. I used to run payroll for my company with over thirty employee, back in 2004. The portal had always been user friendly and full of features I needed like multi-state filing etc. Now, I use the portal to conduct payroll for just myself.

Cons

SurePayroll has been charging me $55 per month for payroll. Their website (SurePayroll.com/pricing) clearly states $29.99 per month + $5 per employee. Since I use QuickBooks integration, that is additional $4.99, which should bring my bill to $40 per month. I have been unable to get this issue corrected. The support emails go to this black hole with no tracking, as there is no Inbox built into the portal. They try to resolve issues by calling you back at their schedule, which may not be convenient to you. Calling them back and finding a human to talk to, is almost impossible during the tax season. Most issues like mine can be simply resolved over an email exchange. Support used to be great during the original \[SENSITIVE CONTENT HIDDEN\] time. Since PayChex took it over, the support has gone down the tube. I won't be surprised if PayChex's end game is to merge the product with PayChex Flex. The company address still says Glenview IL, however, the letters sent to this address are being forwarded to PayChex's corporate office in Rochester NY. Don't expect a reply from there. There is a guy, \[SENSITIVE CONTENT HIDDEN\] at SurePayroll, who always responds to a negative review. I even sent him an email to ask the correct corporate address. He never responded.

### "Surepayroll DEVASTATED my business. DO NOT USE if you care about compliance"

We are trying to navigate the remote working situation as many business are I imagine. It is a grey area which state to tax employees in as the company is based in California and some of our workers decided to reside in other states. One employee decided to stay in New York, so we decided to amend his returns to reflect his NYC residence, seemed like the right thing to do. Surepayroll charged a large fee for this amendment. I then received a $27,000 fine from New York for not having workers comp insurance. Now the NY website says teachers don't need workers comp, which makes sense as our tutors teach on their computer in the bedroom and have no chance of injury. However as an out of state business it turns out they require it for all employees. Surepayroll gave NO guidance on compliance whatsoever. Once I received the fine they did NOTHING to help me resolve it, other than send an insurance salesperson my way. All decent payroll firms help with compliance, switch to Gusto they force you to be in compliance before you set up an account. This fine is forcing us to close our doors in New York. The entire reason I pay a payroll service is to help navigate situations like this. Using this service is probably the worst business decision I've ever made. I now owe $27,000 to NY which I absolutely don't have and don't expect to have anytime soon. This has been devastating. Surepayroll made it clear that they could care less about resolving the issue.

Pros

Somewhat easy to use, though the website is really cheap looking.

Cons

They do not assist with state compliance at all.

I have realized that payroll can be far cheaper than I initially thought without going with a company who has no backing from a larger institution. Other than this, Paychex acquainted me with most aspects of payroll prior to signing up.

Pros

I liked the price point for my sole proprietor small business without losing the connection to Paychex. It was far less expensive than SurePayroll while being in the SurePayroll family. The customer support and user experience were both excellent and made it easy to handle payroll. They also assisted with compliance needs which was expert and helpful

Cons

First there is a bug in the software for remembering a specific computer re: two factor authentication. However, the larger issue is the inability for PayChex to get on board with recommending or at least not badmouthing the product. I was approached numerous times to try and poach me back from SurePayroll and I was told SurePayroll would not be a solution that would help me when I closed my account with Paychex. That was truly disheartening but didnt stop my move due to the price point. That said, I felt that I had my money stolen from me by Paychex for not routing me to SurePayroll as SurePayroll covered my needs far more appropriately than Paychex.

I didn't -- I learned it was connected to Paychex, saw the price, learned they have access to past documents for easy migration, and had a tax/etc. compliance team, and I made the switch

### "Have been trying to cancel for 6 months"

They are associated with RunPayRoll.com, this is just an 'updated' version, same login. Anyways, my business closed its doors at the end of 2021, in January I started trying to get my W-2s out and was unable to login to the site. I kept getting a security error come up and ask me to verify via text or call.. No worries. But they never came in, I tried multiple times. I called their support, waited on the phone for over an hour (it was during peak season but still). Finally I was able to at least get the W2s sent to me and was told to cancel my account I needed to login and do it. Again, can't login because the system was not sending out text/calls to my number. They even verified and confirmed it was the right number. The support person told me to email in to request cancellation, the email back said "Login to the system and cancel from there." I emailed back, saying I couldn't and I'm not going to spend another 2 hours on the phone trying to cancel. That was in Feburary, and since then they've been taking money out of my account each month even with NO employees in the system. Finally I got someone on the phone and they canceled my account once we went through the steps that I'd done 100x by now to try and login. So from Feb-July I was paying for a system that did not work, would not even let me login. I've requested a refund, but yeah that probably won't happen. Stay away, this is really a bad business. Especially when dealing with payroll.

When in business, it was easy to login and approve payroll

### "Best payroll service at an affordable price"

We have a very small dental office (5 employees) and I run the whole business aspect, so I needed a simple, easy to use solution for payroll. We had used ADP and Paychex for years and it worked. But when I moved to Surepayroll just to save money I didn't realize how easy payroll really could be. I love their online interface. Doing payroll takes me no time at all. The W2 reporting has been excellent as well.

Pros

It is very user friendly. I seldom if ever need any technical assistance, but when I have it was easy and the person helping me was extremely knowledgeable.

Cons

My employees have complained that accessing their account online has been difficult. We find that it doesn't work well on a smartphone and it must be accessed via a desktop or laptop computer. This needs to be addressed because many of my employees no longer have a computer at home. They rely soley on their phone or tablet for their computer needs.

I first started with Sure Payroll as a new client was looking for an inexpensive payroll for her one person payroll. When we set her up and ran payroll once a month it was a breeze! I run a small CPA firm and often recommend payroll. This service I can provide using SURE payroll platform without breaking the client's bank.

Pros

I like the ease of use and set up. The pricing is important to a small business and I like the low monthly cost. I like that you can get charged monthly rather than by each payroll run.

Cons

The only con is sometimes the website is hard to navigate if you have a question or problem to resolve. However, if you call the customer service with a help code they usually answer all questions.

Since Sure Payroll pays and files all employee taxes for local governments we were made aware of a situation in another state where the employee should have been paying county AND city taxes that we were not aware of before. By using Sure Payroll and them filing on our behalf saved us hundreds of dollars in penalties and late fees.

Pros

I really like the reminder emails so that I don't forget to enter the information necessary for the payroll to be processed. I also really like that they take care of the necessary filings for all employee withholdings and tax payments. The software is very easy to use and if I have any questions, their customer service is very helpful and willing to assist with any issues that arise. I was not a part of implementing the change of our payroll to the Sure Payroll software so I can't personally speak into the ease of integration. I am not aware of any problems during the switch to the new payroll system.

Cons

I am not able to print the summary reports from the printer icon. It forces me to download the report and then print it. It seems odd to have a feature that doesn't work. I'm not sure if it isn't compatible with my printer or why it doesn't do anything when I click the printer icon.

### "SurePayroll - Best Option for Small Businesses"

SurePayroll is amazing for my small business. It enables us to focus on the work we do, not the administrative task of doing payroll. We do not have an HR dedicated person so being efficient is #1 priority.

Pros

This software has enabled us to free of so much time. We used to do payroll manually and it would take 4-6 hrs. Now, we get it done in a matter of minutes. That alone makes it worth the money!

Cons

Overall, I don't have many cons. There was a bit of a roughness in the beginning but it has all been smooth sailing since.

Reason for choosing SurePayroll

Honestly, we had a wonderful sales person who is no longer with your company. She pitched my husband first and he was the first to test for his small business. It was great for him so that was enough for me to sign up. The price, quality, etc. were in line with our needs.

Pros

Surepayroll is easy to use. The website is very intuitive and on the rare occasion when I needed help, \[sensitive content hidden\] responded quickly and provided great directions. He has always (the 2 times I needed help over the last 15 months) solved my issue on the first contact. Unlike QuickBooks (which is about twice the cost) SurePayroll has been frustration-free!

Cons

Nothing! As stated above, working with SurePayroll has been a frustration-free experience!
