Pros This is the only vector graphics software you need. The pen and pencil tools are powerful for creating smooth vector-based graphics that still look like hand-drawn illustration. I've been using this software for years and it's never let me down! Cons I wish I could do the same thing as Photoshop where you can hide the workspace. That way I could access my desktop easier. I can illustrate, vector design, create documents, and so much more. The amount of detail you can apply to a design is insane considering it's not like its brother photoshop. in some ways it's better and more light-weight. Pros I love its ease of use. I can take a design concept sketched on paper, bring it in Ai, and begin tracing over it to create a digital output. Cons There are some things I tend to do like when I meant to "create outline" on the text and by mistake, I outline the whole design document. creating a weird outline effect. It takes me some time to remember how to get out of that mode. now I know it's command+Y. It's little hiccups like this that frustrate me, but otherwise minimal. Review Source Awais A. Their support is very great as well. They offer quite a few ways to understand what you need to do. Pros I love that they've included background save because it's been easy to switch form one project to another. We really use this product to make ourselves new logos everytime we buy a new truck and to create the graphics to roll out different newsletters each month. Cons Its a bit pricey and only a 7 day trial. I prefer at least 30 days because I'm able to actually have the time to test it out. Their in app troubleshooting rolled out last month and it's okay. It's easier to call or chat with them. Cons This Application needs high-performance PCs. It uses ram a lot. But we don't have to worry this application manages the PC performance itself. However its fast and smooth running. While I spend the majority of my time in Photoshop, Illustrator helps me build out elements that I can't do in Photoshop and being able to use both of them together in unison is really what my purpose of using them are. Is there other software out there that's cheaper? Yes. Though industry standard is definitely Adobe. Pros What I like most about Illustrator (as well as the whole Adobe Suite) is that once you learn the ins and out of one program, most of the keyboard shortcuts and commands stay relatively the same. There's also being able to streamline your creative work considering you can open up documents between programs. Cons The one thing about any Adobe program is that there is a learning curve. I would definitely recommend learning the basic commands and shortcuts to help you speed up your process. Illustrator being vector based means that you can size up graphics without loss of quality. Pros Interface design is quite handy, and software usability is very good as every Adobe products. Tools in program is making easier my work proccess, specially round corners feature makes my job easier, and this software the best in its field. Cons 1) Color errors Sometimes, colors in swatches disappearing. And sometimes they only be black and white. (option grayscale is not checked) 2) Pdf export When i export pdf, every raster image in artboard exports in extremely low quality. That is why I have to save as pdf (not export) every time. After learning the basics of Adobe Illustrator, it is very easy to pick up on. Cons Something that needs improvement are some of the tools. For example, a general problem that I have come across is in the Gradient Panel, if you swatch a color to pull in the gradient, my program crashes. I mostly like the pathfinder, expand and blending options and saving the assets is a best option for saving multiple objects as pngs.
