### " Illustrator, a connection to the past. But what does the future hold?"

September 15, 2020

4.0

Adobe Illustrator scores above average, much more because of its solid foundation than current features. It is a program that, in a way, has stopped in time. (I still expect compatibility improvements) It is a program that you must have, or at least give it a try. There are many possibilities, if your creativity allows it. If you are a design professional or student, you should give preference to AI.

Pros

Writing about Illustrator is very passionate. One of the most important Pros of the program is its solid foundation, built over decades. Yes! Decades. Therefore, the main resources of the illustration industry are here. Shapes, Fills, lines, vectors, compositions. Ease of basic understanding of features. Learning curve, of the basic resources is fast. Numerous editing possibilities (the limit is your creation) high degree of SVG compatibility. These are, for me, the best reasons to use AI since 2011.

Cons

Against the grain, AI presents a high consumption of computer resources. RAM, VRAM, Processor, these are abundantly consumed by the program. The more you have, the more it will consume. With the exception of the SVG format, any non-native format will have serious compatibility problems, causing constant breaks. The learning curve for advanced items is complex and requires more effort than other programs in the same category. However, in my opinion, the X of the question is: Is Adobe Illustrator the program of the future for vectors? or was he stuck in time and his Status Quo?

### "Every Update Makes It Even Bigger"

August 25, 2020

5.0

For more than 20 years of using Illustrator and a whole bunch of other vector drawing softwares, I still use it for my web, print and video usage. As part of Adobe, you flawlessly move your files and graphics from Photoshop, Indesign, Animate, Premiere and After Effects. You get what you pay for, but creativity is not part of this software.

Pros

With every update, Adobe makes Illustrator bulkier and tool rich for daily illustration and design. Looking back to earlier versions of Illustrator, the design process is alot faster when knowing how to use its tools. It's flows alot better with complex drawings as to other versions and effects show better than before.

Cons

It still is a very resource consuming software. You still need a good bunch of system resources to get your workflow on a speedway. If you plan complex vector drawing, you should think in investing on more RAM, CPU and a graphics card.

### "Not so easy to use but with many useful functions"

April 11, 2019

5.0

As part of my work I make photo albums, calendars, etc. and for that I use several Adobe products such as Indesign, Photoshop and of course, Adobe Illustrator to make the elements that accompany my photographs. Although it was a little difficult to handle, it wasn't impossible and today I enjoy making illustrations to complement my photographs. It's interesting to see how all these softwares complement each other and allow us to create and expand our imagination and skills. I like a lot Adobe products and I use them widely in my profession.

Pros

Illustrator is the best when it comes to making graphic elements of different complexity. I like drawing tools, they are perfect and precise. The use of layers is excellent because I can work elements of different scales to maintain the precision of the drawing and work them separately. It's compatible with other Adobe products so I can use several and migrate from one to another for a better finish.

Cons

The learning curve is uphill, you have to make an effort to understand how the tools are used. There're some tools that you can't find them at first glance, so you should investigate and try to use the shortcut keys to speed up the work. I don't see all this as a disadvantage because when it's mastered, the work flows much better, so I think it's an incentive to know the software well to handle it with precision. If you have used other Adobe products, learning will be much faster since the graphical interface looks like it.

### "Top Pros and Cons of Adobe Illustrator CC"

January 13, 2019

5.0

Pros

Using Adobe illustrator CC is good for beginners also for advance users in graphic design world. After using it for few years, I manage to accomplish many goals as graphic designer and also to specialize in specific style of design. Adobe Illustrator gives many options and opportunity to express your design style as a graphic designer. What’s more important it is not so hard for use. There are allot of tutorials and learning material that can help you grow as a graphic designer. The latest version offers better use of vector to graphic designers who specialize in this area. Some of these improvements include: simple Free Transform tool that is very useful and practical if you need to resize an object without a hustle. Also, there are big improvements on other existing tools. For example: The latest version now supports Microsoft's Surface Dial. Next to that, there’s is support for CSV and XML in the Variables Panel. Now you can import multi page PDFs within one project. Also, you can use the software to browse Dropbox files without downloading it. In general, Adobe Illustrator CC vector editing tools are much superior to most other vector graphics software that can be found on the market.

Cons

Sometimes, the Program can crash when you’re working with extremely large object and when large pixel resolution is included. The cost of this software is relatively high, but again, it depends on what you’re planning to use it for. Another frequent issue that occurs on lower-spec rigs is the performance drop when editing, resizing, manipulating and otherwise changing the shape and size of objects. This can be a real drag as it slows down the computer and the entire process

### "Adobe Illustrator: Create beautiful illustrations!"

September 28, 2022

5.0

This software is just great! It allows me to create beautiful and professional illustrations. Everyone is thrilled!

Pros

I use Adobe Illustrator and I can say that it is a really powerful graphic design application. One of the features I like and find really useful with this vector software is that I can have infinite resolution. That means I can work with high resolution graphics. I get an infinitely scalable image with no loss of resolution and clean lines. Is it easy to use? It depends on each person, but in my case, the process of learning and using it was quick because I used the right resources. There are many online tutorials that helped me get started. I also took a course to get more hands-on training. I have been using the software regularly and can now say that I am an expert.

Cons

The software is powerful so it is a bit resource intensive, but users can find the solution by buying the right hardware, otherwise I don't find any difficulty in using this product.

### "Industry Standard for a Reason"

February 23, 2019

5.0

Illustrator has freed me up to be the designer I never thought I could be. It's the place I start for all my projects, and then go from there to other programs. I'm probably not even using all the functionality available or in the "right" way, but it's more than enough to keep me in my job as a designer producing things others are unable to.

Pros

Adobe Illustrator is my go-to application from the entire suite. I probably use it way too much, but I can always find a way to do what I need with relative ease - even if the task is better suited to Photoshop or InDesign. I find that Illustrator offers the most flexibility and creativity for my projects. I can't design without it! Plus Adobe is continually upgrading and improving the software to make it more powerful and intuitive.

Cons

When people want to know how I design amazing graphics, reports, and slides - they're always faintly disappointed to hear that I do so in Illustrator because it means they're unlikely to be able to replicate my results. Yes, it is an investment of money as well as time to learn, and just because you can master the controls doesn't mean you have the instinct or eye of a designer. That's one of the main hurdles and reason I don't recommend going out and learning Illustrator for the casual person interested in design. It is a commitment, and can feel technical at times. But once you have it down, the only limit is your imagination!

### "Adobe Illustrator: Vector Design, Comics & Lettering."

June 27, 2022

5.0

Overall I really enjoy using Adobe Illustrator. Very professional tool with a whole lot of features. This makes it a very versatile tool. I mainly use it for comic panels, lettering and vector design however, it is still a very powerful graphic illustrator. For anyone who can afford it I would say it's definitely worth the price.

Pros

I make use of Adobe Illustrator for vector design such as logo creation. I also use Illustrator when working on comics because it is very useful for text editing and lettering. I is a very professional tool and very user-friendly. There are free software that can do similar things that Adobe Illustrator does however, the price may be worth it because is very professional and offers a whole lot more features.

Cons

This is a paid software so that can be a con especially for indie creators. The load times of files and projects can also take some time at first. It's not the best software for graphic illustrations but it is up there.

### "Adobe's latest Illustrator rocks!"

October 23, 2018

5.0

Couldn't really operate without Illustrator. All of our design projects start with Illustrator and end with Illustrator. Since we print often, we use Illustrator to create, edit, and finish our designs for print. Other designers also send .ai Illustrator files and save these to the cloud for us to download and view. Illustrator s a great tool for designers and I would highly recommend the software to anyone who is in need of vector editing software or if they need software to create print-ready files.

Pros

I've been using Illustrator for over 8 years now, and the latest CC 2019 version is absolutely stellar. They've built in Global Editing now -- ability to edit multiple similar objects and making it a global style, something that was nifty and found in other Vector editing programs but missing in Illustrator. This is a huge time saver for editing multiple objects and saving the style to re-use over and over in UX/UI projects. With the new improvements in Creative Cloud 2019 version, Illustrator's really a butt-kicking solution for Print Projects as well as vector projects.

Cons

There's a pretty big learning curve to using Illustrator. When I first set out to learn it, I was overwhelmed, but it's very powerful and a ton of features. The pro's far out weigh the cons, where some might stick to a program that's easier to pick up. My only complaint would be the learning curve, but once you get over the hump, it's a beast of a software.

### "Steep steep learning curve, but you've got this"

September 9, 2020

5.0

I think the previous two sections give you a good idea about my experience with Illustrator, but I can add that we would be lost without it in our toolbox. Making something that looks great and is able to be reproduced anywhere is crucial for us. Having the level of control you have in Illustrator is really unmatched. Cannot stress enough how important its role is in our agency's day to day work.

Pros

Basically, once you get the hang of Illustrator and its many many features, you can create anything you want. We use it for logos, transit ads, charts, you name it. One of the best newer features is the "Library" panel. This works with most all of Adobe products, and what it does is let you load up your fonts, logos, photos, type, etc. for each client you're working on and it's all right there for easy access all the time. Granted, that's not enough to justify the high monthly cost to "subscribe" to illustrator, but it's one more thing they have added over the years that makes you understand why the price is higher than not. One thing you can say for sure with Illustrator is you're going to get stuck at some point, too. The good news is there are built in tutorials you can refer to for guidance. Or just jump on YouTube where someone has probably figured it out. Exporting to any file type you need is a breeze, and setting up multiple art boards in a file couldn't be easier. Once you're set, get to work and see what you can build.

Cons

If you're on a budget, this is not your friend. The Adobe Creative Cloud does offer a lot, but you pay for all of that, too. I can't say I dislike the learning curve because I've been working with Illustrator for years. That said, if you're new, prepare to have your patience tried and your frustration to rise. That's ok, this gets easier, I promise.

### "Recommend for any user from beginner to advanced "

June 30, 2021

5.0

I've been using Adobe Illustrator since CS6 to recent CC2020. Also I have used similar software in the past but with Adobe I think it's much better and easier to work with. And with updates Adobe makes the Illustrator much better providing the new tools designers required.

Pros

I think what I like most is with the time Adobe was able to modify Illustrator into what the users needed with many new and updated facilities such as freeform gradient, Image trace and smooth tool. Also being able to use the same files through any adobe software software is another good option. Finally adobe stock and adobe fonts are quite good features I like a lot.

Cons

I think if Adobe could improve their OpenGL support that would be good because Illustrator does not support some machines. Also I think it's better if Adobe could extend the basic image manipulation support a bit.

### "Best vector graphics software"

February 2, 2023

5.0

Adobe Illustrator is a very fast and efficient graphic design software if you have a good knowledge of geometry and vectorization. Very practical otherwise.

Pros

Adobe Illustrator is the essential software for the creation of logos, illustrations, to start typography, some simple layouts, or even more recently the 3D which has become quite powerful and easy to use. What makes this software more interesting is that it is accessible on tablet as well as on computer and there is even a demo version for novices to familiarize themselves with the software before jumping into the deep end.

Cons

I like everything about Illustrator except that I find it a bit too expensive for personal use but the subscription is worth it for professional work. The second point that I regret is that it is not as good for direct bitmap drawing where you have to use Photoshop. Without prior knowledge it is almost impossible to use this software for a non initiate.

### "Illustrator is the best design software"

February 7, 2019

5.0

Adobe Illustrator is a very useful app with many possibilities. I have been able to contain its cons and that has enabled me to create wonderful graphic designs.

Pros

•Adobe illustrator integrates well with other Adobe products. I have been using adobe flash and Adobe Photoshop. Once I downloaded adobe illustrator and learned to use I perfectly, I was able to create anything of my imagination from the software. •Adobe Illustrator works with virtually all systems. I operate the software from a creative cloud and I have always been able to us the software from any computer with any kind of OS. •Adobe illustrator enables me to improve the precision of my designs. It is the best app for graphics that are designed with precision. •Adobe illustrator supports multiple page outputs, especially when working on multiple pages of a website. •The vector in Adobe illustrator provides me with infinite resolution hence I don’t have to deal with the pixels in my graphic design. It allows me to work with high-resolution graphics in a superior way.

Cons

It takes a lot of time to learn how to operate the app especially if you are not familiar with any of its older versions. •Adobe Illustrator has limited photo editing features. For me, I use adobe illustrator to design my initial graphics then finish up with Adobe Photoshop. •Although adobe illustrator files are relatively small, they are sometimes difficult to share. •Sometimes I want to deal with pixel art but adobe illustrator will not allow me to do so.

### "Adobe Illustrator is by far the BEST program to use for vector graphics!"

November 18, 2022

5.0

Overall, I love Adobe Illustrator and use it daily for my personal and professional projects.

Pros

I like the ease of use of this program and how it integrates with the other Adobe software products. As a graphic designer, this is my go-to program for creating vector illustrations, logos and 1-page design layouts. It's easy for me to use and does everything I need it to do, and more!

Cons

Every time there is a new update, I get the latest version with my creative cloud subscription. This is good, but it seems to reset all of my workspace settings and I would prefer to not have to fix this with every update.

### "A classic Adobe product, the market leader, but a strange tool to use if you have never used it befo"

November 4, 2022

4.0

A good tool, that you have to use.

Pros

It does everything you could possibly want to do in a graphic design tool. There is no other product that matches the number of features that Adobe Illustrator offers. It is the most popular tool, so if you are trying to do something, there is definitely a way and the strong community backing across the internet makes it the most well rounded tool to do everything.

Cons

It is hard to learn, so get ready to be endlessly Googling and watching tutorials. It can also be quirky and for Photoshop users, there is always issues with learning different shortcuts (not sure why you did this Adobe) For a lot of people it is going to be quite expensive, however if you are a professional it isn't really going to be an issue, you just have to accept that you have to pay for it and it helps you to generate much more money. For hobby users, it is too expensive and I would recommend other tools like Affinity Designer or even less complex vector editors i.e. Figma

### "Perfect for Crafting Scalable Graphics and Art"

August 31, 2019

5.0

I tend to utilize Illustrator as my primary design tool. It's the program I am most the most familiar with, and thanks in part to its vector premise I make use of the software to create company logos, web art, icons and background displays. As native Illustrator assets, these elements can also be easily modified and re-used for specific displays or alternate designs. I highly recommend this program for users looking for versatility and the ability to craft crisp designs for any resolution.

Pros

Because the software deals in vectors, everything you create can be easily scaled up or down whilst maintaining perfect resolution. This allows designers to zoom in deep to craft pixel-perfect details for any display, as well as edit and swap Illustrator elements regardless of original dimensions.

Cons

While one can make use of filters such as blur etc., they don't appear as good as they would in a more suited program like Photoshop. The filters can also drag the program's performance down, particularly when trying to drag the screen. The ability to modify stroke profiles is another great feature, though it's sometimes frustrating that such fancy lines cannot be applied to any object you've made into a clipping mask. Perhaps the biggest issue, depends on what one is attempting to create, is the software's lackluster perspective skew tool which forces users to make adjustments in a tiny popup box with no live preview.

Pros

Illustrator keeps the status as professional tool, other softwares dont have all the range of functions. When you create, you want to be able to have the right tools. New 3D effects and AI usage in Adobe softwares is very good.

Pros

Cons

### "The best editing program"

December 8, 2018

5.0

My experience with illustrator has been perfect, it has helped me to do almost all the work I do and today I use it every day for all the design work I have, it's perfect to be able to work with vectors because it gives you that possibility to edit the convenience thing that very few softwares offer to you, and that in addition to it avoids that the resources are deformed when expanding or reducing them, in my opinion a software super recommended and without equal in the area of the design.

Pros

Adobe Illustrator is a born software for graphic designers, perfect to obtain amazing results, what I like most about this software is the ability to work with vectors and the degree of detail that is so great that is achieved, perfect for creating logos, advertising campaigns, brochures, everything that has to do with graphic design, the truth is that it is a super complete tool, the brushes, the edition of colors, the gradients that are achieved, the ability to acquire and work with any source you want, And not only that, but the huge stock of resources already created, both free and payments that can be used.

Cons

In truth in my opinion the only negative could be the price but I think that for everything that the price is well deserved, and also that knowledge and management of the software is needed to achieve excellent results, since for someone inexperienced it can be a little difficult to use it.

### "Illustrator, a designer's spirit guide"

December 1, 2021

5.0

It's been a nice experience, it has allowed me to learn a lot and at the same time it has payed itself since I have gotten a lot of work because of the illustrations I've made on this software. This program is so versatile that a graphic designer could survive only with this single piece of software.

Pros

It makes illustrating simple. Vectors are easy to manage. Software is really versatile, you can do a great variety of projects on it, from illustrations to books. A user friendly workspace. A great variety of tools. Easy converting from texts to vectors.

Cons

User needs training in order to be able to use the program. Some tools don't have keyboard shortcuts, which can make your work rhythm slower. Older versions lose compatibility with newer version works. It doesn't allow the user to edit pictures by itself, you need another photo editing software.

### "De gran calidad"

October 27, 2022

5.0
