Such a great great program to have in my belt of artistic tools. Pros Adobe has perfected so many over their programs over the last decade and of all of them that I use from the suite, Illustrator stands out among them all. Initially, it can be very intimidating but I learned by using it daily and taking courses offered through other programs, youtube, and adobe's "help" section. Along with Premiere and Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator has allowed me to take my artwork and imagination to the next level. This is one program that once you learn, you can do it all! Highly Recommend! Cons So there is really only two things that I can gripe about that come to mind. First, it is not very user friendly when it comes to those that are just beginning. Even if you are familiar with some of Adobe's other products, this one can be intimidating and frustrating to learn at first. YET, I must say vectoring becomes a breeze when you do learn the basics even. The only other thing that I can really complain about is the pricing. If you are a student of course, this can be affordable but I loved back in the day when you paid a full price once and you had access to it all, and I get the monthly subscription model in 2019, but if it could be a little bit more affordable, it would be a home run! March 7, 2018 5.0 Pros This software is fast and very reliable. It gets regularly updated by adobe where they are constantly innovating new tools and things that the software can do. This keeps the software on the cutting edge. Adobe is great about making sure you know there is a new tool and just how to use it. Illustrator excels in typography and the way you can manipulate test. The creation of shapes and graphics is second to none. Illustrator is an industry standard when it comes to graphics and vector designs. I work as a Media and Communications Minister and I use this software everyday to create everything from social media graphics, to logos, to T-shirts, to branding, and beyond. The possibilities are only limited by your imagination. Cons It is hard to find something to not like about the software so I will say this, there is a pretty big learning curve when first starting the software. It can be quit intimidating for someone who has never used a design software although adobe is good at offering tutorials on how to get going. It is also a bit expensive when you consider wanting multiple different adobe software. The capabilities of of the software and the tools to take you as far as your imagination can go is pretty awesome too. Also the training that is out there for this product is wonderful because it is so widely used, someone before you has most likely attempted to do what you want to do so you are almost limitless with this software. Also the uniformity and consistency within all adobe software makes it easy to learn and use on all their platforms. Cons Updates!! While they are great for new advances and fixing problems (bugs/glitches), they are terrible because they are ever changing. Meaning the way you've done something in the past or for the last 20 years could change at any moment. Sometimes for the better, a lot of times for the worst. In my case at least. With it being subscription based now, I have found, the tools reset upon updates and I spend more time resetting, updating, or learning the new tricks then in the past before CC came around. Also being on subscription forced to pay a premium stinks. Yes it is worth it, but there are rival products out there that are sometimes easier and less expensive for a smaller projects. Además me encanta la capacidad que tiene esta herramienta para crear y controlar las formas de contorno. It has great printing qualities, and you can create anything you can imagine with its available tools. It is an inexpressive software for all the benefits it includes. Pros I love using illustrator for my designs. I specifically use it to design and print my architectural boards, but I love all the graphic tools it has for any need. It does achieve great quality for any size. Cons I am not sure if illustrator has any collaboration tools, but I would love them to add this. Designer Design Used the software for: 2+ years ### "From Logos to House Plans" December 4, 2020 5.0 I was working at Adobe at the time Illustrator was being created and have used it continuously over the years. I use it to create overlays on maps for zoning projects, I have done detailed plans for a house that I built, I always use it for logos, posters, most projects where I want a lot of flexibility with laying things out. Pros The ability to create and control outline shapes. The fact that it has been in existence since the 80s and probably isn't going anywhere makes it worth learning. The things that do change or get added are mostly beneficial and logical additions. Tools like Pathfinder really work well. Masking works well once you get the gist of it. The pen tool is especially great if you know how bezier curves behave. I think they have added a lot of functionality over the years that I'm not even aware of since I never need it to do more. Cons There are a few nits and lice that have always bothered me but I honestly can't say that they don't have workarounds that I just haven't learned about. I wish there were a fast way to create an often used color palette. I end up making little squares on the page with the colors I want and using the dropper to grab them. The artboard is a little cumbersome until you get the hang of it. I often need to fit artwork to bounds (good for creating svg files that don't have weird empty origins). When you look for the Preset page size the dropdown starts with the setting you currently are on - it's not obvious that Fit To Artwork Bounds is above the dropdown list and you have to scroll up! Finding a tool palette can also be hard when you have a lot of them open. You can see that they are open in the windows list but if you select the item it will turn off the item. What would be nice is to somehow flash or bring to front an item so you can locate it. These are minor things but I have noticed them over the years. Reason for choosing Adobe Illustrator Adobe Illustrator was in a league of its own. Other products felt like subsets or not as oriented to giving you full control of creating and editing the bezier curves. Review Source Ushoshi S. It's the software i primarily use and will continue using it in the future. And because of how easy it is use, you can master using it with prolonged use of the software. Would recomend this software to designers and illustrators. Pros I have been using Adobe illustrator for 7 years now. And it's definitely the software i use the most. I am a illustrator as well as a designer, and i do bit of typography. In respect to all these, i find that Adobe illustrator is the best tool. Listing down a few pros of the software It's very easy to use. As someone who works on various Adobe softwares for design, illustrator has the best ease of access. I prefer working in vectors, as compared to pixels. And illustrator allows me to turn anything into a vector. Which also allows me to adjust the size and scale the illustration or creative. It's got some good and usable brushes. Other applications might offer more. Cons One of the cons would definitely be the fact that there are not enough, styling options. Not enough brushes and brush styles. Photoshop offers a lot more. Because it's a vector based application, the size also tends to get heavy. I believe it's fairly easy for beginners to learn the basics, and then you can build up your skills from there. Pros I've been using Illustrator for years, and I always learn new tricks! Overall it's great, and you can do so much with it with great opportunities for continued learning. For me it feels extremely intuitive, and is my favourite of the Adobe suite. However, as I designed more frequently for web & digital projects, laser cutting and engraving I buckled down to learn the shortcuts and functionality. WELL WORTH IT! I overcame the learning curve and mastered the design elements most necessary and now it saves me so much time and effort! I can't imagine designing without it now. Pros I love all of the features, functionality and utility. It is fantastic and essential for any design professional, laser engraver or digital web design. Learning the features and shortcuts is well worth the effort. Cons There is a learning curve and things are not always intuitive. There are so many functions, toolbars and ways to use Illustrator which makes it frustrating for many people. Pros Adobe has been the leader in Graphic Design tools from the beginning and Adobe Illustrator is no different. I have been using Adobe Illustrator for nearly twenty years, starting in college and then branching out on my own with my own Graphic Design business. Adobe Illustrator has so many pro's that they are difficult to list all of them. From a wide array of industry standard output and input options, graphics and color management, flexibility and endless possibilities with the many tools for graphic creation are just some of the many benefits of a software that has been not only setting the standard but has invented many of the tools that we enjoy today. Cons Adobe Illustrator is not an easy program to learn. Luckily, there are various levels of usablity that make it possible to learn the basic tasks fairly easily but the vast majority of the software remains out of many new user's understanding without classes, tutorials and lots of research.
