### "Illustrator is a fun and easy way to build and create new images, logos and unique illustrations."

May 18, 2018

5.0

Being a creative is fun when it comes to illustrator, it provides you with enough information to get started. But also holds back enough so that you have time to explore new opportunities within the product through searching on the web. When you find something new in illustrator it's like finding a hidden key that you never knew existed, like a kid in a candy store! I greatly appreciate this product and all it has to offer!

Pros

The drawing tool is my favorite, I use it for personal projects and can create unique drawings by being precise and using the points to move things around if necessary. The guidance within Illustrator is incredibly helpful when you're a new user, but also as you get familiar with the product. Learning more about the tool is very easy with the trainings and additional help tools that individuals have created. Creating in general is fun and simple when utilizing illustrator, we utilize it on my team to create small illustrations for our software site quickly and easily. It's also simple to know sizing for specific illustrations if you want to create something similar.

Cons

I would love for a more advanced guidance to be put into the product as well. For maybe 1 year after you have been utilizing the product, show the user the new features along with advanced features that you can use. Illustrator sometimes requires a little bit of googling to figure out how to do something, but the trainings that adobe provides are super helpful.

### "Adobe Illustrator for Graphics/Photography"

November 30, 2018

5.0

I use Illustrator secondary to Photoshop to complete all projects in my photography business. It picks up the areas that Photoshop lacks. Put the two together, and you'll never need other software in the context of photography. I'm not aware of any other program that does everything that Illustrator does in vector based art.

Pros

As a photographer, I occasionally use Illustrator for design projects alongside Photoshop. Here are pros: - It is probably the most powerful tool that exists for creating and working in vector based art. - It carries over well to other Adobe products. I sometimes jump back and forth between Illustrator and Photoshop and the transitions are always smooth. - When working with vectors in Illustrator, the resolution is unlimited, so you don't have to worry about how your end product will look on screen or in print.

Cons

\- Illustrator has a steep learning curve. When I first started using it, I thought it would be a breeze due to my extensive knowledge of Photoshop and other Adobe programs. But I found Illustrator to be more difficult to "get the hang of" despite my fast-learner abilities with these programs. - The interface is almost too complex. There are multiple ways/tools to perform the same task. I wish that Adobe would clean this up for a smoother experience. - In my experience, Illustrator is a memory hog, so I need to be using a computer powerful enough to handle the program without being bogged down.

### "Illustrator é um bom investimento"

April 4, 2023

5.0

### "An essential tool for any graphic designer"

March 2, 2021

5.0

Rather than having to outsource design work or waste hours struggling with outdated software, Adobe Illustrator has given me the ability to create marketing materials in-house with a reliable, easy to use tool with features that you will never stop uncovering.

Pros

I could not design posters, flyers, business cards, any vector images without Adobe Illustrator. While the software is powerful and complex, the tools are easy enough to understand for beginners and they work very well. If you own other Adobe programs you will be familiar with the layout of the software and the functionality of many of the tools. The ability to manipulate text in any number of ways is unparalleled in any other software that I've used, in fact the program is so complex that you can use it for years and still find something new. The backwards compatibility is also fantastic.

Cons

There are entire college courses dedicated to teaching this software because of how comprehensive and powerful its features are, so it does take some time to learn how to utilize all of the tools available. While some of the tools function similarly between Illustrator and Photoshop, there are certain things that just don't work the way you would expect between programs.

### "Io amo illustrator"

### "THE Industry standard for 2d vector illustration"

June 6, 2022

5.0

Illustrator allows us to create all needed vector 2d files for our projects, share them between users, departments, and even outside our organization with ease. The standard file types it can create (PDF, EPS, SVG, PNG, JPG, etc.) are very useful, as those without Illustrator aren't forced to download a file converter or purchase Illustrator to use the native AI file.

Pros

Virtually every industry professional engaged in graphic design, logo design, marketing, advertising, etc. uses Illustrator and can share and work with the files it can generate.

Cons

The learning curve of working with vector software can be fairly steep. In addition, for those wanting more 3d capabilities, Illustrator just isn't going to get you there.

### "Vector-based powerhouse"

December 12, 2023

5.0

Illustrator is a must have if you're doing anything graphic-design related. Other than Adobe Photoshop, it is the most used program I have. It's very powerful, and I find it very easy to use.

Pros

Two words. Image Trace. The Image Trace tool (live trace to the veteran) is the single greatest tool in the entire adobe creative suite, and it's improved so much over the years.

Cons

I can't really think of any issues worth noting. My main gripe against it is not a problem with the software itself, but the subscription-based model of all Adobe software. It's pretty pricey.

Alternatives considered

[Affinity Designer](https://www.capterra.com/p/110533/WebPlus-X4/)

Reason for choosing Adobe Illustrator

The image trace tool is a deal breaker. Affinity does not have some of the essential functions that illustrator offers.

### "Love it! "

May 10, 2021

5.0

I love it! I use it for fun projects, for work, and for consulting. It has so many options and shortcuts, and I'm always learning something new within it. It's made my work for personal use, small businesses, and large companies possible and easy.

Pros

Illustrator is my favorite of the Adobe products! I am a graphic designer so I use it for everything - logos, flyers, apparel design, branding guides, everything! It's easily customizable to your tool bar wants, and Adobe has a million of great tutorials to learn new things.

Cons

The price is pretty high. I get the educator discount, so that really helps, but when I was out of work it was pricey to keep the subscription going, even though I needed it in case I got an interview or contract gig.

Reason for choosing Adobe Illustrator

Ease of use and customization, as well as the Creative Cloud combo so I could also get PhotoShop, Lightroom, etc.

### "AI- Amazing Designing tool"

November 20, 2019

5.0

I make covers, fliers and business brochures from this amazing tool. You can just download any vector from the web and start editing it with no extra tool required to convert formats. I have been using an illustrator since its CS version.

Pros

It's very easy to use, has most of the tools we require while designing, tracing and editing vector files. The most useful feature is a pen tool, you can theoretically draw anything. AI can export multiple formats but not limited to common like .eps, .png, .jpg.

Cons

Newer versions are resource hungry, sometimes they eat all available memory and you can't just use other adobe programs while working within.

Alternatives considered

[GIMP (GNU Image Manipulation Program)](https://www.capterra.com/p/168960/GIMP/)

Reason for choosing Adobe Illustrator

Adobe interoperability with its other products like AE, PS, etc. The designer can easily export or move vectors from one program to another without hassle. It's available on both win and mac.

Pros

Adobe Illustrator is perfect tool for digital art, logos, icones, all the vector tools that you need for your design or you animation on after effects. its worth learning, those tool will make your vector pixel perfect, colorfull and trendy.

Cons

i wish Adobe Illustrator Integration with after effects was smoother, it doesn't support multiple artboards, so the file tends to be a bit messy.

### "2019 Release is Packed With Awesome New Features and Workflow Enhancements"

October 16, 2018

5.0

Adobe Illustrator just got a whole better with the 2019 Creative Cloud update. I'm excited to start using these new feature enhancements!

Pros

The new features in the 2019 release of Adobe Illustrator CC are amazing and have the potential to drastically improve every Graphic Designer's workflow. For example, Global Editing enables a Graphic Designer to edit all instances of the same element by just work on one of the instances. So, if you have a layout with a banner, business card, flyer, and advertise that are all using the same logo, you can modify the logo on just one of the pieces of artwork and the logo on all the other pieces will update with the changes made. You can also customize the Tool Bar on the left-hand side of the interface. You can organize the tools to fit your workflow best. Adobe also made vast improvements to how the artwork can be viewed. They made zooming in faster, enabled a Trim view to see how the artwork will look as printed, an actual size preview, and more.

Cons

I think the only thing that gets in the way when working in Illustrator is that, in many cases, you can do the same thing many different ways. If there was a way to disable some methods of performing some actions to clean up the interface, that would be cool.

Easy to use and does most of my tasks and jobs with Adobe Illustrator.

Pros

Illustrator did everything for me, vector graphics, layout etc. Basically I am using it daily for my work, recreating pixelated images needed for work. I am also using it now for design layouts, proofs and everything which helps me a lot. Tools are very easy to use and understand.

Cons

Because I use it for work, I literally have to bad opinions regarding usage of Adobe Illustrator. A very helpful app.

One of the great software which I am using since my college days. It means I am using this software for the last 14 years. After my college, I used it at my all workplaces. Even when I started my own business my employee and I am using the same. I am Really a Happy Customer :)

Pros

It's an amazing software for designers, graphic designers, CAD, Vector designers, etc. Very easy to use. The shortcuts are amazing, you just need to learn all the shortcut buttons. I am using this software for the last 14 years so I have seen how they keep adding new features and making our life easy and easier.

Cons

It's great software but one thing I don't like about it is - The files don't open in a lower version. And I always face the problem because of it. One more complaint I have, The newest version of Illustrator doesn't support in my old Mac Book :(

### "Adobe Illustrator is my love and my main earning source "

first-time Adobe Illustrator is very difficult to me. but when I know all tool properly then this software is easy for me. ### "Adobe Illustrator is the industry standard for a reason."

March 19, 2018

5.0

The main benefit from Adobe Illustrator is having the Industry standard program at my fingertips and being able to create top quality products without a hitch.

Pros

Illustrator is the industry standard for a reason. Adobe may be known for lacking the innovation that some of its competitors have as they rest on their laurels, but in recent years Adobe has been stepping up their game to stay at the front of the pack and change that misconception. Illustrator is a prime example of this forward change. Adobe could rest of the laurels of having the leading edge products in this arena, but they still are constantly improve. The features included in the newest Illustrator continue to make it the best program out there for vector based illustrations and designs. I have used it endlessly for logo designs, conceptual designs and artwork, and even for print projects and layouts and it never fails me. The tools just can't be beat and the features that help make designing even easier allow newer graphic designers to learn faster.

Cons

Illustrator has come a long way in terms of being user friendly, but my main gripe is with how Illustrator differs from Photoshop in some fundamental ways and although things are changing there are options and shortcuts that don't translate between programs and can be frustrating. However, with practice you get the hang of it and all is good!

### "Illustrator for Africa"

March 9, 2021

5.0

The Adobe Illustrator has served 50 clients so far in my company with 3D logo designs, funeral and party poster designs and music cover arts. Basically, anything digital art, Illustrator got me cover. The tools and colour segmentation are impressive. Recently started using the pen tool more often, and it have been very effective in helping me redesign old logos and artworks for clients.

Pros

The Adobe Illustrator is one of the most effective design tool I have ever come across on a modern display. It gives a great area of workspace to feel free and express yourself in a lot of diverse art works. The pen tool alone contains functions that transforms an image into a lot of different forms. Mostly I use it for recreating old logos. The illustrator is designed for artworks of any kind and design. From basic drawing tools and functions to graphic designing. It makes my art ideas easy to plot.

Cons

From a viewpoint of constant users I have come in contact with and myself, the Adobe Illustrator is not African art friendly. There are increasing number of young Africa art graduates using the Adobe suite for its modern art designs and there experience is great only when the contract is digital. Even though the Illustrator environment gives room for vase level of creativity, there is a huge market opportunity in Africa. Young designers expect some tools that resonate with African basic designs, to serve as an easy start tool. Some sort of African interface.

This is the best tool for vector graphic. You can create a lot of cool stuff by using this software. But the interface is quiet different with Photoshop.

Pros

A lot of features You can create world-class design of characters, magazines, fashion clothes and etc.

Cons

### "Versatile tool for Graphic Designing"

October 22, 2023

4.0

Pros

I like the usability of the software and the support for vector editing as well as other graphic design work. The file size of designs made in Illustrator is also low, yet high quality. The feature to directly edit PDFs is also a blessing.

Cons

The only issue I have with Illustrator is the GPU Compatibility driver issues faced on newer GPU's such as 3050. Since the GPU compatibility causes an issue, it is quite hard to work on large files.

### "Ai is the standard of the graphics industry. "

July 4, 2018

4.0

AI is the industry standard of graphic design. There are no substitutes in the industry. Vector based programs are the best way to create resolution independent graphics quickly and effectively. Ai has creative tools to capture every look and idea you can think of.

Pros

Vector based programs can produce complex graphics at any scale with a small file size. So you can create art for the side of a building or the side of a promotional pen. I work on package design and all the designs are created from initial concept to final printing in Illustrator.

Cons

Sometimes I want to create a simple small document and don't need access to all the effects and pallets and tools . My dream would be to create a custom version that runs fast do if I am opening 20 documents and making edits I can do it lightning fast like a speedy print production mode. Then I want to be able to launch into Design mode to add drop shadows and puppet warps and gradients without any limits. The two jobs in graphic design are Design and Implementation. Why not have two modes?

### "Illustrator 2019 Performance"

December 13, 2019

4.0

The overall experience in using Adobe Illustrator has been good to me since Illustrator version 6. It's very powerful and the tools are easy to manipulate. But how much can you achieve from Illustrator depends on how much learn from it. So continuous learning from basic to advanced techniques is important to users who wanted to jump into this creative digital world.

Pros

It's one of the most powerful vector graphics software in the market, plus that it associates closely with other software developed by Adobe especially with Photoshop. The usage of Illustrator is almost unlimited with professional results. You can work with it for artwork logos, business cards, realistic graphic presentation. I used to draw an internal view of a BMW M3 sports car, no one can tell which one is the drawing and which one is an image. If you are regularly working on a repetitive artwork with the same base graphics, you can save it as a template under .ait. So every time you click on this template icon, the base graphic file opens as a new file, and you can continue it with different designs.

Cons

Illustrator 2019 is a nightmare for every user. It drains up the system resources although my desktop is using 16G Ram, it's been good enough to run Illustrator smoothly when I was using the 2018 version. Unfortunately, there is no sign that Adobe will develop batches to fix this problem. So new users should either go with the latest 2020 version or stay back for 2018.
