### "A tool of high quality."

April 28, 2019

5.0

Adobe Illustrator has been my greatest asset in most if not all of my online freelance work. I can’t imagine how crippling it would be to my work and creative flow if it were to not exist. I am constantly growing in my craft and in my profession because of it. Creating is easier and more fun than I could’ve ever imagined. Truly a software of high quality and complexity. It functions seamlessly from any devices and works smoothly with all of the tools I have applied to it.

Pros

The thing I most enjoy from Adobe Illustrator is its attention to details. From minute to the most complicated of details Adobe covers it all. Out of all the drawing softwares I’ve used it provides a high volume of options to get whatever creative functions you desire.

Cons

Unfortunately Adobe’s greatest strength is also the cause of its greatest weakness, in my opinion. Their stellar attention to detail creates a very clustered and complicated user interface. This is usually the case for software that has a multifunctional creative purpose. However it doesn’t help in making the app more user friendly. It’s took me about a week to figure it out as much as I have and that’s not to say I have completely figured it out. I am constantly finding new functions to play with. Not always a bad thing but can be quite upsetting to know an option was the the whole time.

### "Essential for any true graphic designer "

June 24, 2019

5.0

I currently use Adobe illustrator to create designs for my T-shirt business. It's definitely been very instrumental.

Pros

Adobe illustrator is possibly the best tool out there for graphic design. Its precision is applaudable, it is perfect for designs of any scope or size. When creating designs that require exact measurements, dimensions, angles and alignments. It works seamlessly well with other Adobe softwares, designs created in Illustrator can be easily imported into photoshop and edited. Used in conjunction with other Adobe products, imagination is the only limit. Infinite resolution in vector design. This allows you to work with high resolution graphics in a superior way, images are scalable to an infinite degree without distorting image or losing resolution.

Cons

Adobe illustrator can be overwhelming for beginners. With a plethora of features, functions and tools, even veterans sometimes have a hard time when new versions are published.

### "An indispensable application"

October 21, 2021

5.0

It is one of the indispensable programs for all designers, but I find it difficult to find some shortcuts and tools, as Photoshop can rotate the image with two clicks. As for Illustrator, it needs four clicks, I think it should be more smooth.

Pros

Adobe Illustrator is one of the largest programs in terms of the many features available in it. One of the best vector and logo drawing programs. It contains mechanisms for converting 2D fonts into 3D models in easy steps. It can handle its friend Adobe Photoshop easily through drag and drop. I like it a lot because it is one of the programs that I cannot complete my work without working on it every day.

Cons

I think working on it is a bit boring. In my opinion, some tools and effects should have a more simple shortcut and not be complicated. When I have too many curves and lines the program becomes slow on my computer.

### "A place for all your scalable art."

September 19, 2018

4.0

Adobe illustrator overall has helped me and my organization in building a strong creative relation in-house and with my clients. It gives me a creative workspace which helps me for achieving the output that my client needs.

Pros

1\. Adobe Illustrator is one of that software which can't get more user-friendly. 2. I like the UI for the overall experience and it makes my work easy by making me focus on the art I want to create and not on just figuring out the tools to do so. 3. It is easy to export or import data from any other Adobe products. 4.You can easily export individual artboards.

Cons

1\. Tho, an elegant UI, it has a very steep learning curve and needs effort and time to learn illustrator. 2. Very limited Photo editing tools, if using photos in your artwork it is sometimes difficult to manipulate it. 3. You need to be perfect at your artwork, illustrator won't help you instantly get better at your art, it just manipulates your art skills to a more digital format.

### "Fashion Designers, there are much better options on the market for you"

December 30, 2018

3.0

If my industry didn't require the knowedge and ability to work with Adobe Illustrator, I would never ever use this app. All processes are slow and over complicated.

Pros

I teach bachelors how to use Adobe Illustrator in the Arts Univrsity. Adobe illustrator is the standard tool in our industry for creating fashion deisgn flats. All designers are requred to be able to create design flats in Illustrator and if you have this skill under your belt you definitely improve your chances to get hired. The good name of the program is about the only thing that I like about this product.

Cons

This software is extremely NOT user friendly and not intuitive. It takes long time to get used to working with it and everything is made to be complicated. Over the years the new versions add more unnecessary functions, instead of simplifying and improving the workflow. In the Arts Academy where I teach it takes 2 semesters to teach my students how to create design flats with Adobe Illustrator. In comparison, it takes only 4 hours to teach them how to create the same quality of artwork in a competitor program. I hate when simple tasks are made difficult for people and anything a designers need to do in Illustrator requires you to read manuals, watch videos or take courses. You can not manage to use it yourself.

### "It's the industry standard for a reason!"

February 14, 2019

5.0

In my current role, I use Illustrator for everything from creating logos to updating incredibly detailed maps for our interactive way-finding system. I use it to create icons, illustrations, layers for animation, and laying out packaging designs too.

Pros

Illustrator can do just about everything, and it's an integral piece to any creative digital workflow. I love being able to design assets and easily format them for every facet of a campaign. I also love the freedom of building designs with precise shapes, freehand with a tablet, or live tracing and editing my physical artwork. It is 500% worth investing the time to learn this incredible set of tools, because once you get the basics you can expand your knowledge in all kind of directions, whether you end up developing brand identities, writing web comics, creating characters for animation, or designing apps.

Cons

The biggest challenge I faced starting out was the sheer magnitude of Illustrator's functionality. In college I learned to use it passably enough, but always felt a little awkward and overwhelmed. Being primarily trained as a fine artist, Photoshop always felt more intuitive and reflective of a physical workflow. As my design career progressed, however, I became much more fluent Illustrator by necessity. Take the time to explore the menus and learn as many shortcuts upfront as you can!

### "The most powerful tool for creating vector-based graphics"

June 8, 2019

5.0

Adobe Illustrator is one of the most important softwares that i use all the time, this is by far the best in creating vectors and it contains all the tools you need that other softwares does not have. from printing materials to web ads, i use Illustrator for all types of design work.

Pros

Adobe Illustrator is the most flexible tool for creating vector-based graphics that allows you to design anything from scratch. It communicates and integrates smoothly with other Adobe’s softwares. Adobe Illustrator is definitely my go to software to create large format graphics. Adobe Illustrator makes it very easy to undo mistakes that you have made. It also works with both Mac and Windows.

Cons

Illustrator has so many features, so this tool is not suited for beginners who don't have prior experience with Adobe's softwares. There is a learning curve for this tool and it requires a lot of training and practice to get the most of it. when working with heavy graphics, Illustrator will eat up most of your computer's RAM and CPU and tend to crash, so you're going to need a powerful computer to run it correctly.

### "A Review from a Novice AI user"

June 23, 2018

5.0

I was able to teach myself a few things when I worked with various graphics. I'm not a graphic designer and a pro may have another solution to recommend. As a novice I enjoyed learning Illustrator which does a good job of presenting a lot of training clips to teach you how to use it.

Pros

There are a million options to use with Adobe Illustrator and it's a lot of fun to play with. I mostly used Illustrator to adjust vector graphics I received. This review is for novices. I'm not a graphic designer with experience to use this product to its fullest potential. My work in Illustrator is very basic. I'd take vector graphics and adjust colors, move objects, work with layers, rasterize fonts, add fills, resize. I did purchase a course to learn how to create my own logo from scratch in Illustrator but I never completed it because it wasn't an urgent priority compared to other skills I need to keep up to date. It's a cool enough piece of software that I wanted to learn more but my work doesn't require that level of expertise. If you're a graphic designer you're already well versed on the horse power behind Adobe Illustrator and are able to continually up your game to produce amazing designs with it. I decided to cancel my subscription and I want to give a big credit to the customer support agent who handled my request. I wasn't put through a painful extraction process to keep me on the subscription. I was offered a free month in the interim if I wanted to change my mind. That agent did a fine balance of encouraging me to stay on without crossing that line where I could get frustrated. Kudos.

Cons

If you're a novice like me and don't mind spending the monthly subscription to use Illustrator have at it. I decided it was time to cut the cord for something I not only rarely used but don't have the skill set to use the sheer force behind all the tools it has to offer. I can't compare it to other graphic design solutions, though there are some free options that I will be taking a look at to address my super basic needs.

### "Go to software for illustration, icon design, and vector graphics"

July 6, 2021

5.0

Pros

From my experience Illustrators path workflow and functionality is superior to other vector software out there. If I was going to stray from Illustrator as my go to vector software the competition would need to beat Illustrator in that feature space. Illustrator allows you to have advance control and accuracy with paths, grids, guides, snap to guide, etc. Also, exporting quality SVGs is very important and the competition doesn't measure up in that space from what I have seen.

Cons

Some updates on how Illustrator handles smart guides and snap-to-pixel has some flaws. It seamed like I had better accuracy in previous versions of Illustrator. No one likes to have their paths splitting pixels or to have to fix that on a regular basis. Some times I don't have an issues while other times new path shapes start on 0.5 pixels when creating them.

Alternatives considered

[Affinity Designer](https://www.capterra.com/p/110533/WebPlus-X4/)

Reason for choosing Adobe Illustrator

I chose Adobe Illustrator over Affinity Designer due to Illustrator being the standard software that agencies and companies use. Affinity Designer look amazing and I still want to try it. Illustrator is still a must have though.

### "I can't work without it"

February 9, 2021

5.0

Overall I can't work without this software and I love using it. It definitely has a learning curve, but it's more intuitive the more you know. It's well-built and rarely crashes.

Pros

Adobe is always updating to add new and better features, and highly responsive to user reports about any glitches or issues to fix. There's almost /too much/ continuously being added... almost like they're making too much money for the amount of work that we actually need done on it... too full of superfluous bells and whistles that are only marginally or rarely useful.

Cons

The old argument - I understand the many reasons why going subscription-based was necessary. But Adobe's software prices are way too high for most of us freelance artists who need to use it. They have a monopoly and they're taking advantage. It's a slippery slope to being hated like the next Comcast. The regular user price should be the "educational price," and the educational price should be free.

### "Leader in Vector-based artwork"

February 7, 2019

5.0

I’ve been using Illustrator since 1992. From prepress printing to print design, production art, and digital design, this vector image application continues to lead the field.

Pros

Shape tool’s editing features are much better. 3-D rendering is amazing for not being a standalone application. Editing PDF pages in multi-page documents is surprising; it saves that page into the original PDF document, instead of having to import it. And good export for screen function.

Cons

Artboards would be nicer of they possessed their own set of layers (maybe a preference setting). I iterate designs on the fly, drag-copying content to new artboards. Unfortunately, the layers are the same across the whole document, so I have to manually create new artboard-specific layers for better organization. Also, printing multiple artboards on one sheet of paper is not intuitive, and is an ‘all-or-nothing’ function. It’d be nice to select specific artboards to print together.

Pros

\- Easy and has all the tools. Request to use for design - It is used in all design works The graphics you want to work with will never lose their quality if they are enlarged or reduced. - Better print output because it doesn't depend on resolution

Cons

I did not notice any significant defects in the program, except that it is large in size, but it is not a major defect

### "Its the best once you learn how to use it"

June 7, 2019

5.0

In general, it is a good software to use for graphic designers as you will be able to create different designs including text, Bezier curves, and geometrical shapes among many others. However, note that to fully enjoy its rich features you may need to take up some training on how to use its tools. But thankfully you can still get a lot of help from online courses and forums if you get stuck.

Pros

As a web developer, I have had to deal with graphics and Illustrator has been a life saver. The software comes with many features including an Action Tool that saves time with repetitive work. Also like that it integrates with Photo shop and this means you can simply import or export an image that needs further enhancement.

Cons

Learning how to use Illustrator isn't a walk in the park (am yet to even know how some tools work). The application costs a lot and only suitable for business purposes. Unlike Photo shop, Illustrator doesn't have a history window and it can be tedious to undo several steps.

### "いつもお世話になっています。"

June 10, 2023

5.0

Pros

Cons

### "Illustrator is to Photoshop, what Legos is to Finger painting"

I love it. It is absolutely necessary for most any graphic designer and I couldn't imagine working without it.

Pros

Illustrator is the tool for developing the building blocks of any brand or design. It is an extremely powerful vector-based program that allows me to utilize mechanical precision. I'm able to stay creative and with a little getting used to the tool gets right out of the way and you're able to just flow.

Cons

Frankly, there are little things here and there I don't like, but none come to mind. It's a great program.

June 30, 2022

4.0

Pros

Out of all the Adobe programs I've used, I have found Illustrator to be the least buggy. The variety of tools makes it viable for multiple types of vector work, from prints to web design. If you need something designed in the best quality possible, one which can be scaled to any size and still looks clean, you need to use a program like Illustrator.

Cons

Could use some more features. could possibly pull some more features from Photoshop. As always with anything Adobe, their support team is one of the worst out there.
