The UI is good, and Adobe releases updates with better and more powerful tools. When it comes to what you can do with this software, the sky is the limit. Cons There is a bit of a learning curve, and it might get a bit complicated to use at times. You may never be able to explore all the features and functionalities of this software because there are just too many! Pros Extremely powerful functionality, hot keys are crucial and when you combine with a wacom tablet, you can produce assets really fast. I've used AI for over 10 years for work and most recently for personal projects. I made a blueprint of my new house and was able to plan out where all my furniture went before we even moved. It was amazing. Cons I really wish there was a lite version for cheap or free, where you could create just simple vector objects for personal projects. For my little blueprint project I had to purchase the full version when I only used simple lines and shapes. November 28, 2018 5.0 I have been using Illustrator for 4 years now and Adobe is my all-time favorite for editing or creating graphics, if you can imagine it, you can probably do it with Illustrator. Pros The thing I like the most is the interoperability between the different Adobe programs, edit something in one program and see the changes happen in the others aswell. The possibilities with Illustrator are endless and it's a must have for every Graphic designer or people involved with web development. Cons There is a high learning curve to find out what each of the functions do. Even when you think you know everything about the program you'll still find out new stuff every time you use it. December 4, 2019 5.0 Sometimes our clients are sending us logos to use on printed material and they're providing image files which are not ready for print. When the logos are more simple we use Illustrator to vectorize them and use on our media for print. Pros I'm not a graphic designer and thus don't spend a lot of time with Illustrator but I've used it countless times to easily take a jpg image or logo from a client and create a vector version of it to prepare for print. Illustrator makes doing this quite simple. Cons I'm not a huge fan of Adobe's move to a subscription based solution rather than having the option to purchase their suite or individual product licenses. I like the simplicity of Affinity Designer now better and use that most of the time. On the other hand, not everything is possible with Affinity Designer yet. So at times like those, I still switch back to Illustrator. Pros I love the fact that Illustrator has tons of features like image trace, and 3D capabilities as well as standard vector drawing and editing tools. I also appreciate how it keeps improving with regular updates. Cons Even though I love the huge number of features in Illustrator, it sometimes feels too cluttered and chaotic when working. Every update seems to be more helpful as time goes by. Pros I like that this program does what it is supposed to do when you're using it to create your vectors, images, art, etc. Anything that you are confused about there are directions on the adobe site that explains. Cons Usually when they update the program, shortcuts and small things can change up, but its not too hard to learn the new shortcut, it's just slightly a bug when you've done something a certain way for so long, and they change the way you get to the option. but we adapt, and I get over it. I have been following the suite since Photoshop (codename Brimstone) in 1992. Illustrator has really taken over most of my day to day though, allowing me to create wonderful images with just a few minor elements, to editing family photos, or even managing some pretty complex creations. It's all about how much you want to put into it. Pros The interface has grown over the years, but has remained "familiar". It takes a while to learn what everything does, so this consistency is really very vital. Whether you are novice, primarily using the eye dropper and paint bucket, or advanced, using Flash integration and CSS extraction, this is a truly great piece of software. Cons I've grown with this software, so it comes pretty naturally, but trying to train it to a friend or family member has been a bit of a challenge. There is a huge surplus of videos online and how-to documents, but it would be good to see more on page training or tours for the novice (so that the advanced can get back to having fun!) It is very pricey if you’re using it every now and then if you’re using on a daily basis and you’re making money off of your designs or graphics then it does come in handy. Pros This software has a lot of capabilities it allows me to make me designs and graphics in very detail. I will say I do enjoy being able to make my designs any size that I would like and not be limited to making a smaller design. Cons I feel like the pricing is a little pricey especially when you have to do all the add-ons for the south where to get the full addition.
