It was my number one software for a long time. Pros My first contact with Adobe Illustrator was 5-6 years ago and since then I used it mostly for graphic design (print). It offers a lot of features that could help to finish your vector projects (logos, posters, flyers, billboards). Poweful tool which will let you export your work in various formats. Cons In a last few years AI started losing a battle against Sketch App which offers all-in-one product that works much faster and stable. It's not that AI is bad, but it's much easier to use Sketch. Any updates that occur seem to make sense and do not completely overhaul the prior version, making it still simple to navigate. Pros I love the ability I have to access Illustrator and receive the latest version with my Creative Cloud Suite. I also like how user-friendly it is along with the many capabilities it offers. I am able to utilize templates created by professional graphic designers and easily manipulate to various versions needed without having trouble navigating the program. I would not recommend it to new users, though will agree that it is an industry standard. Pros I think what works best about Illustrator is the almost limitless functionality. It can pretty much do anything as far as graphic design goes. I would say that you may need photoshop for a few of the end steps, but for the most part, you can get a project from start to finish using only illustrator. Cons This is a costly software with a monthly subscription attached to it. Additionally, it has a lot of functionality, but these things are more for intermediate and advanced users. There is a hundred and ten days to accomplish one specific type of design, which is nice. The program's update makes it easier for pen tool users as well. Cons The hidden tools in the toolbar, there should be a better way to organize each tool and window option within the software. With the properly laid out tools, functions and options even a new user can grasp Adobe Illustrator very quickly and become and expert in no time. And the performance of the software is so great. And with the low memory usage compared to the similar software in the market, Adobe Illustrator becomes the number one solution for vector graphics editing. August 31, 2019 5.0 We use Illustrator daily, for designing outdoor billboards and also magazine ads. It is flawless in execution. A little difficult to learn, but worth it at the end of it. Will definitely recommend! Pros Everything about the software is just perfect. The artboards based UI makes it easier to browse through multiple pages of design, the linking with Aftereffects makes it a great backend for video graphics. It's great to have it on an iPad too! Cons The learning curve is longer than you'd imagine. It'd take one easily a few weeks to actually start realising the potential of the software. Also, the maximum artboard size is actually smaller than a standard billboard size so you often have to design in illustrator and export to another software like Coreldraw to make the actual sized print files. Pros I've been an avid user of the Adobe creative suite for quite some time now. I use Adobe Photoshop on a regular basis. But I have to say when it comes to creating vector graphics Illustrator will always be my go to. Being an artist myself I really appreciate the image trace feature it provides, wherein I can draw a piece, scan it and with the Illustrator's image trace I can further the artwork in a highly scalable vector image. One other feature I love about Illustrator is the introduction of the Artboard, wherein I can create and compare multiple dimensions of the artwork. Other features include it's seamless integration with other Adobe products like Photoshop. Cons The biggest cons of Illustrator I would say is the learning curve involved in mastering the software. I had a little bit of trouble grasping the concepts even after being fairly proficient in Photoshop in a shorter period of time. Also being an avid user of Photoshop I tend to use Illustrator and Photoshop hand in hand because of Illustrator's limited photo editing capabilities.
